The left pedestal has another pull up tambour door to reveal cabinet space. It is a large 55.25" by 32.25" executive size desk w. Overall height is47.75" high with the writing desk top at a standard 30" height from the floor. It has a blind front oak panel where the center drawer once sat but for some reason the previous owner chose to do away with the drawer and make a blind front oak board. The original drawer guides are still intact and you could easily add a drawer box to the panel to have a top center drawer again. Very nice tiger oak grain throughout with a natural oak finish on the wood. It un-assembles into 3 parts for transport, Two side columns and desktop with tmabour and, desk top and cubby space. Meubles RINCK" is an entity specializing in high end furniture inside the RINCK group. The desk is 52" wide x 27" deep x 30 1/2" high. The underside is stamped with the maker's mark by M. Rinck and the seal of"UNION NATle INDUSTRIE FRANCAISES DE L'AMEUBLEMENT" The 3 drawers all lock with a deadbolt and each have their own key. The two outside drawers measure 10 1/2" wide X 20" deep X 3" high with the middle drawer measuring 15 1/2" wide X 21" deep X 3" high. This desk was my father's pride and joy. My earliest memories of it date back to the 1970s when we lived in NYC and it was in his private study. It is in excellent condition with signs of use on the burgundy leather working area on top which also has a couple of stains. A competent furniture restorer can easily replace this leather piece but I would order a replacement directly from Rinck to preserve the desk's heritage. The following information was supplied by Rinck in reply to my recent email inquiry regarding the desk's provenance: Dear Sir, I can confirm that desk is coming from our company and Parisian work shop. I can not be more precise about the year. Because all client's files are archived, but: It is a Louis XV style desk, traditionally manufactured with a solid oak structure, with mortaises and tenons joined, hand dovetail joins for the drawers, black lacquered finishing, ornate with sand casted, chiseled, and ormolu set of bronze. The round UNIFA stamp on the underside of the desk is there to assure the desk has respectability and was constructed to the standards of the Professional Union. The UNIFA stamp also confirms your desk is from the period between 1960 and 1980. Because after it would have been stamped"Groupement ébénisterie d'art" As Rinck at this period was only working on

This desk and chair set is in amazing condition complete with inkwell and sliding cover and pencil groove! Both the desk and the chair feature adjustable black cast iron bases in very nice shape and working condition. The desk adjusts from 17" to 22 tall" and the seat adjusts from 9" to 12" inches high. The desk top measures 18" wide x 12" deep. The seat measures 10" x 10" the back rest measures 10" high. The Cast Iron base of the chair is marked" CHANDLER" along with the patent dates. It also features 6 holes around the base for securing it to the floor if desired. The set overall is in extremely nice original condition with some minor dings and scratches and no major damage or flaws. a very nice and unique antique child's desk set!
