There are a few light surface scratches to the finish from general use, but it has been very well cared for, and is in amazing condition. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece. It most likely dates to the middle to last part of the 19th Century. It does have some cracking in the front writing surface of the desk, but these areas are superficial thus far. The desk is made of what I believe is mahogany, and has ornately carved accecents on the vitrine shelf supports which are done in reverse scrolls.

Furniture, prints and so forth, to the Museums and other collectors of Americana. They have been found unnecessary to the comprehensiveness of the Mabel Brady Garvan Collections at Yale. They are in no sense inferior pieces or duplications, but are other examples of types fully covered by the same or contemporaneous makers. Francis Patrick Garvan[1875-1937] was an American lawyer and long-time president of the Chemical Foundation. Garvan graduated from Yale University in 1897(A.B. and from New York Law School ... morein 1899(LL.B. He had a distinguished career as a lawyer. The drawer is dovetailed and the piece has its original hardware. There is a triangular label inside the drawer that reads MADE IN GRAND RAPIDS TRADEMARK REGISTERED GRM. The pulls on the cabinet are push button release. Very unique. The cabinet opens to a large storage area. The front legs have claw feet. The cabinet sits on casters. On the back side ... morethere is a round label that reads NEW ENGLAND FURNITURE CO. SIDEBOARDS AND BUFFETS NO. 1714. There is a ring on the shelf above the mirror and a couple of partial rings on the cabinet top. There appears to be a burn mark on the cabinet top as well. The veneer on the crown is splitting and bubbling. On one drawer the veneer is split in one spot as well. The varnish on the front of the doors is pretty thin. This is antique, it will not be perfect. I do not know the exact date this buffet was made. This piece measures 59 ¼ inches tall, 42 1/8 inches side to side and 25 ¾ inches front to back. Antique Paine Furniture Co. Morris Chair Recliner c.1890 Pick Up Only CT
Description This is a beautiful antique traditional reclining chair from Paine Furniture of Boston. I sent online images to an appraisal company and they sent me the following information: It is an early type of recliner known as a"Morris" chair. It is of oak and quarter-sawn oak and most likely dates to around 1890. The chair was probably made in England judging by the oak used but some of the construction details look to be American so I can't say for sure. The chair is in nice solid condition given it's age. The cushions themselves are original. But the coverings are not. They were recovered decades ago. There are some stains on the seat cushion. The front two casters were removed years ago because the chair was in a young boy's room(in the 1940s) and he liked to go wheeling about, so now there are only two in the ... moreback. Needless to say, in the last 60+ years they have been misplaced. There are holes in the bottom of the front legs for replacement casters if you like. There are some areas of wear along the back legs. Top corner, and bar holder. Please view the photos carefully as they show all areas of the chair and of wear. The chair measures 28 1/2" across the arms at the center and 21 1/4" across the seat cushion. The arms are 21 1/4" high from the ground and the wooden seat is 11" high from the ground. The back is 39 1/2" tall and the seat is 21 1/4" deep. A brass rod adjusts the back to sit or recline in 4 different positions. This is a great opportunity to own a beautiful unique antique recliner. It has been in my living room as I have photographed it and researched it and I have had many comments and compliments regarding it. Due to the size and nature of this item it cannot be shipped. This auction is for a lot of 20 vintage/antique caster wheels. Total they weigh nearly 6# Will be mailed in a flat rate medium box for $12.35. All white porcelain. Few with chips, but nothing that impairs fit or goes through to center( 1 has a crack from one side to other but feels quite stable) I have grouped them in photos by sizes so there are some pairs and sets of 4, then some oddballs. All have pins attached except the caster with 2 wheels on it. All in pretty good shape for their age. some expected rust on metal parts. We did scrub up the porcelain so it is white again, they were very very DIRTY! They measure roughly 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" in diameter. Used for furniture but not really sure which type. This vintage stand was used for many years in my home recording studio here in the Boston area. Frankly not so much as a music stand, but as a wonderful decorative"prop" to display some vintage music sheets that I often kept on it just for fun. The stand is in good antique condition. It is stamped and labeled on the face of its base with the manufacturer's label. The surface shows light scratches and blemishes to be expected of an item of its age. The plate of the stand is covered with real leather painted with gold paint or gold leaf, all-original from the manufacturer. JAPANESE ANTIQUE 80 YEAR OLD TAISHO ERA MINIATURE HINA GIRLS DAY FURNITURE
These are very unique miniatures of a Japanese kyodai(vanity) as well as haribako(sewing box) from the early Showa era(c. 1930) It is made complete to scale out of cryptomeria wood. And then covered with several layers of black lacquer. And a peony and tendril design. Peonies are symbols of wealth and fortune. The kyodai has four drawers and the haribako has three. The life size versions of these chests were used by women to store makeup and sewing tools, respectively. These chests' drawers open and close easily(see picture 12) They have been well used yet well loved and aside from a warm aged patina and two of the small kyodai handles missing(see enlarged picture 2) It remains in very fine condition. The kyodai measures a dainty 4" wide by 6" high by 2" deep(10 x 15 x 5 cm) And the haribako measures 2" wide by 5" ... moretall by 2" deep(5 x 12.5 x 5 cm) A great piece of Japanese history and a very interesting and functional piece of miniature furniture. This very nice antique treadle sewing machine cabinet and drawers. The cabinet is structurally, in very good condition and would be a great for many types of ideas and or projects. The old varnish is just what it is. very old" The machine. And legs are"not included" in this sale The nice. What appears to be Oak Cabinet is in good usable condition. It does show how old it is due to the breakdown of the old varnish finish. The cabinet"closed" measures approximately 34 1/2" long x 19" wide. The top of the cabinet does have some worn areas were the wood is showing through more than others. When the top cover is opened up you will see that it has a couple of ... moresmall gouges in the center of the surface approximately 1 1/2" long but it is not very deep. The top cover(door or table extension) of the cabinet measures approximately 21 3/4" long x 15 1/4" wide and the hinges are nice and strong. Here we have an antique 1940's hard wood TRIANGULAR SHAPE chest of 4 drawers. We were told it is from the late 30's early 1940's. This dresser/ cabinet measures 39-1/2" in height. 24" long across the bottom at the longest part- 1" at the top of the triangle- across the front. This is 17-3/4" wide. Made in Mexico. Has a veil of white overspray on the right side and across part of the front. There are some scratches and a couple of small chips out of the wood. See pics. Use the zoom feature.
