I can't find a date but these came with other maps from the 1930s in an estate. Condition is very good not excellent. A couple tiny holes where folds join up and edges a little soft. Not falling apart though. They fold out to be pretty large. Better than my pictures show. Resolution and color is better in person. I am also selling other nice paper this week. Orange County California Street Map atlas, 1981, 24 maps, good shape
This is an Automobile Club of Southern California atlas of Orange County. The 38 maps are from 1981. Included are about 30 communities. Such as Capistrano, Corona del mar, Costa Mesa, Irvine, El Toro, Huntington Beach, Laguna, San Clemente, Mission Viejo, and portions of Santa Ana, Stanton, Tustin, Seal Beach. One of the maps includes the El Toro USMC Air Station. By the time these maps were printed, Orange County had already begun to develop and most of the freeways are included on the maps. Still, a lot of changes have occurred in the area in the 40 years since these maps were printed. The final pages include an index of communities and street names. The atlas is complete and consists of 14 plates on thick paper with blank backs containing the 14 lithographed maps which are in excellent shape. Cover is green morocco with gold color inlay and about 19 x 24 inches. Letterpress title-page. Issued as part of the report of the United States Geological Exploration of the Fortieth Parallel under Clarence King with significant historical maps of the silver and gold mines of Nevada and California. The thick cover is well worn at the corners and along the spine. Some bends and scuffing to the green portion too. The first flyleaf has some browning at the outer edge in two place and a nick of missing paper. There ... morebegins a water stain at the top near the spine on the inside cover and fly leaf pages which diminished on the pages as one goes into the book and becomes stronger once again on the last few pages. See two photos of this from the front flyleaf and the last map. Second front flyleaf has less water damage at the top near the spine. Small tear corresponding to the nick of the first flyleaf page and has the imprint of the title page ink clearly visible. All the maps are in excellent shape with no tears or marks. Unfortunately I can't find a date anywhere on the maps. They are very colorful and in excellent condition. One map measures 15" by 10 3/4" It is marked VICINITY OF LOS ANGELES and shows the counties of Santa Barbara. Ventura and Los Angeles. I have included close-ups of different areas so that you can see what towns and cities are noted and the many that are missing. The map ... moreincludes the islands of San Clemente, Santa Barbara, Catalina and San Nicholas in the south and the islands of Santa Rosa, San Miguel and Santa Cruz in the north. The other half of this page of the map contains a partial list of rivers. Towns and cities. The opposite side has a double page map marked Central California. Measuring 21 1/2" by 15" Contra Costa and San Joaquin counties are at the top and Kern County at the bottom. The maps are very clean. With no tears, smudges, etc. The colors used are turquoise green, yellow, orange and pink. I had planned to mat and frame the larger one, as my own city of Santa Cruz is shown on it. However, I found another print that fit my frame perfectly, and these fine maps fell by the wayside. At least a century old. These finely detailed and very colorful maps would look superb framed. This is a set of 41 topo maps(40 different maps- one duplicate) covering much of northern California backpacking country and a few extras. All were bought in the 1970s and were folded for storage and field use. Some were used for backpacking and show light wear as indicated in the photograph. Most look like they have probably never been opened back up after the original folding. The maps in the photograph were simply the top maps in the stack. Let me know if you want a photograph of a specific map and I will gladly provide it. The condition shown is typical for the complete set. As shown in the photograph. Some have rolled/creased edges and some show use and yellowing but all are quite usable. None are about to fall apart from repeated folding/unfolding. You are bidding on a lot of vintage maps of states and territories from a 1911 Britannica Atlas. This lot includes all of the US states(except Texas and Oklahoma) There is also a map of the United States. These are double-sided sheets so all can't be used. These maps. Which were copyrighted in 1911, are all in good shape. Except for some foxing, defects are limited to the margins of the sheet. Each sheet measures approximately 11 x 14. Some of the maps have a smaller footprint.

2 VTG 1946 maps CALIFORNIA Rand McNally frame-able sheet 20.5 x 27.5 RAILROADS
Lot of 2 LARGE maps of CALIFORNIA from an old 1946 RAND MCNALLY large scale size ATLAS that was bound in such a way that the maps are removable for WALL DISPLAY& framing or table layout. These TWO maps show the RAILROADS of a bygone era! There is a NORTHERN CALIFORNIA map& a SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA map i think the scale is slightly different between the two. BACKSTORY: The outer binding of an old commercial atlas oversize book was damaged. Therefore presenting the conclusion of removing the individual maps for individual sale. The large atlas was printed in USA of course. And it's the POST WAR(WWII) printing of this particular publication. The colors on this map are superb! Nice aging has occurred over the years. Presenting an authentic(because it is! as you can see in photo there is a particular yellowing/aging along one margin of ... morethe map. But there may also be moderate yellowing/aging throughout. There is a single fold in this map due to it's large size& the way it was bound in the book. But it is ONE SHEET. The book was bound in such a way that large maps were able to be removed as one sheet. SEE PHOTO ZOOM for details. The photo shows the actual map. In situ. IF PHOTO LOOKS BLURRY due to photographic limitations. Rest assured the actual map is not blurry. The map is rectangular in shape. There may be temporary"rolling" effect from being shipped in tube and this should subside. We are not map experts. And would recommend consulting an experienced collector if you need specific handling/framing/storage/preservation advice. any"stella ragsrose eBay" watermark that may be shown in the photos does not appear on the actual map.
