Up for auction is a lot of 3 vintage maps. First there is the black-and-white fold-out"California MOTOR ROUTE MAP. issued by Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles. There is a map/brochure on Route 66, from L.A. to Chicago. It is dated 1960 and features photos of some of the attractions along the famous highway. And there is a Chevron Supreme color fold-out street map of L.A. with a picture of the Civic Center on the cover. The maps have imperfections(please see the detailed description of condition above and check out the photos) but they are in decent shape. The old California MOTOR ROUTE MAP's only significant flaw is that someone marked routes in red; the paper itself is in very nice condition, with minimal wear. The first item is a Softcover book about traveling in Baja California called Baja California Overland by L. Burr Belden. This is the 3rd Edition published in 1968. The book measures approximately 5" x 8" and has about 70 pages. There are a number of black and white photographs. This story is about his 26th expedition to La Paz. Mexico. The 2nd item is also about Baja California put out by the Automobile Club of Southern California in 1985. It measures 8.25" x 5.25" and has 132 pages. I have scanned in the cover and the table of contents for this item. The 3rd item is a Traveler's Map of Mexico showing Baja. California and more by the National Geographic published in 1994. Seems to be in pretty good shape. The 4th item is a hardcover book by Sunset called The Sea of Cortez. Published in 1966. It has lots of photos most ... morein black and white. It has 283 pages. This auction is for a nice soil map of: The city of Yuma. AZ& an Alkali map of the same region. Each map is roughly 3’ x 4’ or more depending on the size of the county represented. The maps are dated between the years 1904- 1905. Each map was designed to be folded to about 5” x 9” and stored in a box of other maps. This comes from a lot of soil maps retired by the University of Minnesota. Each map is in decent shape and any defects are attempted to be noted by the photo. If you have any questions. Please ask. Some maps do have small tears resulting in a“star shape” between the creases of the folding. But this general does not mean any paper or information is lost. Large paperback with original grey wrapper with black title to front and along spine. 101 pages including index. 69 figures throughout text. 39 plates including many maps. Five of the maps are located in the map pocket attached to the inside of the back wrapper as called for. There is an additional map(plate 29) in the back pocket which is listed as being in the main body of the text. Illustrations and maps have been checked and are all present. Paper wrappers dusty. ... moreRubbed and bumped at the edges and corners, slightly creased, and with several stamp marks to the front. The wrapper is crumpled along the spine and opens a bit squint. The wrapper has peeled away slightly from the textblock at the top of the guttering of the first page. The back guttering, between the last page and the wrapper, has partially lifted away from the textblock but is still holding on. There is some slight age toning to contents, it's bit dusty with the occasional dust shadow to page margins. Knocked at the corners so some associated corner creases.
