Antique Tlaquepaque Mexican Pottery Vase Extensive Deco This listing is for this large and very early Mexican piece of Tlaquepaque Petatillo pottery. It is most likely from the 1920's. It is a vase form that is approximately 10 7/8 inches tall. Please note that the white spots in the photos are nothing more than reflections. The widest part is a little over 6 inches across. It has extensive elaborate hand painted decorations. It has a unique fine backgraound with a painted decoration that looks like straw. It has palm trees. Fronds, flowers, blossoms and leaves. It is almost an art deco design with the symmetry. This has a ring of blossoms around the top collar of the vase. There are black borders around concentric rings in several places. The condition is quite good with just a couple minor flaws. The black top has some wear to the black. ... moreThere are 2 or three small areas of in the making flaws and a couple of very small flakes to the paint. This is all so minor that it is hardly worth mentioning. There are no cracks or chips to the actual pottery. The glaze is glossy and matte in different areas. Heavy Antique Hammered Copper and Brass Tankard Pitcher Decorated Mexico. This item is in overall very good used condition. I'm not exactly for sure what this is suppose to be. I am guessing some type of pitcher or tankard. It doesn't have any dents. Leaks, cracks or bends. It holds one gallon. it has been partially polished as you can see in the images. About 1/3 of the bottom inside hasn't been polished and it is covered with verdigris. This isn't like the new ones that are thin and light weight. This one weighs 3.8lbs It has been hand made by hammering and the sides are very decorated with what looks to be a scene of someone from an ancient civilization. As i mentioned before it has been polished and some of the polish is still in the small parts of the decoration. The handle is made out of brass and there is a seam where ... moreit was put together. Behind the handle, that appears to have been welded together with brass. You can see this in the images. I am not for sure exactly how old it is. NUEVA HISPANIA TABVLA NOVA(Mexico/ Central America/ California) Issued Venice. 1561] 1599 by Ruscelli& Rosaccio. Printed by heirs of Melchoir Sessa. Fourth Edition, second issue using the re-engraved 1561 plate of 1598. Italian text on verso. A landmark map. Enlarged from Gastaldis 1548 map, and one of the most influential of this region in the 16th century. One of the earliest obtainable separately printed maps of the southern part of America. Here in it's most decorative state with mythical islands. This scarce late issue used the 1561-74 plate(a close examination of minute details reveals this) But for this 1598-99 issues by Sessa heirs(identical plate/map for both editions, just different title page dates) the engraver has added a large sailing ship, more place names in the interior, a long river into central Mexico, and numerous ... moremythical islands in the Pacific ocean(some of which are named- Rocca Parrida" La Anub" S. Tonias" Jada" and a series of islands which are unnamed) The plate was not used again after this 1599 printing and thus this map has no further appearances or printings. A survey of the Map Price Record reveals that Ruscelli maps from the 1598-99 printing are offered much less frequently than earlier printings(1561. 1562& 1574) at a ratio of approx. 1 later printing for every 5 offered from earlier editions. This would appear to indicate the later edition may have been printed in smaller numbers and due to increasing market competition, had a smaller distribution. Clean impression. Faint minor touches of offset, small ink stain at base of bottom blank margin which are in no way visually distracting or displeasing, otherwise entirely pleasing example. Vintage Mexican Abalone Clasped Pillbox Trinket Box made in Mexico Antique
You are looking at a vintage pill or trinket box made in Mexico. The box measures approximately 1 1/2" long. 1" wide and 1/2" high. The lid is abalone, and the base is some sort of metal. It has tarnished, so I cannot be sure if it is silver or brass. It is hinged on one side and has a delicate metal clasp on the other. The bottom of the box reads"hecho Mexico" I cannot completely read it as the bottom has remnants of tape or a sticker on it. This can be seen in the photos above. I do not know any more about it as it was purchased at an estate sale a while ago. I was afraid to damage it. The box shows signs of wear which can be seen in the photos above. A nice addition to any collection.

Antique/ Southwestern Pottery Bowl First. I'm not a pottery expert! This bowl comes from an antique estate sale here in New Mexico. Measures approx 3.5" tall and 4.5" wide. The"paint" around the bowl is raised off the surface and appears subdude or faded. I'm not sure if it just needs cleanded. But it's found and selling as is. I have found NO CRACKS anywhere on the bowl. It does have a little section around the lip that reseambles a pour spout. From the picture it kind looks chipped or have a piece missing, it does not! Up for your consideration is an Antique blanket made in Mexico. This blanket measures 68" wide and 105" in length. It is very long and hangs on the floor when put on my queen bed. The first two pictures were taken inside. Then I hung it over my deck to get pictures of the true color. Sorry about the shadowing. I don't know a lot about Native American blankets. But this one is hand woven. It is made from wool. There are no moth eaten spots or repairs. Where the fringe is on the top and bottom edge, it looks like it is trying to come unloose, but it has not does so yet. Antique Tribal Figural Collar Necklace Turquoise Coral Colored Stones Mexico
This is an antique tribal. Figural,collar necklace of unknown origin. It appears to me to have originated in Mexico or perhaps Peru(judging from the headdress) but is completely unmarked, and therefore, may be too old to fall under trade law, or was not to have been for export. Per the book, Mexican Jewelry" by Mary L. Davis and Greta Pack, Mexican silversmiths in the 18th century built up all types of items in filigree wire-work. And also the pre-conquest indians made filigree jewelry objects. I will not venture a date for this necklace, but do believe it meets the"100 year" definition of antique. The collar appears to have been worn by someone important. As it contains 15 separate figural panels which appear to be chieftains, most in an arms out, supplicant position. All 15 panels are constructed of three-dimensional wirework, ... moreand each figure is crowned by a wire-work headdress. Thirteen panels depict these figures seated, and two panels depict standing figures. The figures and surrounding panels are decorated further in wire-work flourishes, and are embellished by branch coral, or coral colored stones. Additionally, the bottom edge of the panels are decorated in turquoise or turquoise colored stones. The tiny faces of the figures have been carved with features, and while the whole effect is quite primitive, you can see the incredible time and work that went into the making of this collar. The collar measures 33.5" around at the outer-most edge circumference. And 21" on the inner circumference. The panels are all 2" long and approximately 1 1/2" wide at the widest point, with exceptions of the panels with the two standing figures which are longer due to their shape. The metal appears to be mixed, perhaps a brass type metal on the front, and a silvery metal on the back. Again, there are no markings of any kind that I am able to discern. There is a large and sturdy hook closure. There is a loss of one piece of blue stone along the bottom edge of one panel. And there appears to b

If not, they used a very thin thread that is no longer used. This blanket is super super beautiful and is an antique. It also has issues, from holes to more holes. So the price will be fantastic if you want a gorgeous Mexican blanket but please be aware that it has many issues. Thank you.
