This fabulous old Mexican made sterling charm bracelet measures 7 1/4 inches long not including the slide in portion of the clasp. The weight is 44 grams. It is marked Mexico and Silver on the inside of the clasp which indicates that it is from the pre-eagle period in Mexico or before 1948. It is wonderful shape with lots of old silver patina and is guaranteed to be sterling. All 20 bells have their ringers and make a lovely tinkling sound when moving. Set in brass. They depict some of the best known symbols of lush Hawaii. There are 5 charms: a sailfish( an angel fish with the word"Hawaii, a sail boat, an ocean scene with two sail boats and perhaps best of all, the Hawaiian crest or coat of arms. Please note: what I am calling a sailfish might actually be something else, like a marlin or swordfish, all of which are found in the fertile waters of the Hawaiian islands. All the charms are detailed and reward close inspection, from the patterns under the enamel on the fish, representing scales, and those on the hull and sails of the larger boat, to the perspective shown in the ocean landscape ... morewith its two sail boats. And in the crest, the detail is really phenomenal. Rendering the coat of arms of Hawaii in five colors of enamel set against black, it is quite regal. The crest is surmounted by an orange enamel crown and centered with a shield shape in green enamel, representing the ancient flag of the Hawaiian chiefs. In two corners there is yellow guilloché enamel centered with the tabu ball and stick, signifying the power and authority of the King. In the other two corners are stripes of orange, white and blue enamel, for the eight islands of Hawaii. And below the crest is the word"Hawaii. So much detail in such a diminutive charm(about 3/8" square) The bracelet measures about 6-3/4" long. Extended and terminates in a spring ring clasp. With my jeweler's loupe.
