A limited number of 2 inch bronze medals were minted in Rome, and used as gifts for wealthy Catholic patrons. That medal helped the Bishop(Francisco de Aguiar y Seijas) fund the Building of the new Basilica from 1682-1708; one of those medals from my mother’s collection. And is considered a rare medal as it was minted in Mexico for wealthy Spanish Aristocrats, who contributed to the construction of the Main Altar of the Puebla Cathedral.
