Inside Diameter: 47 1/2* 42 1/2 millimeters. 3mm Diameter Round Bronze Stock. Weight: 6.51 grams. Plaque Size: 170* 120 millimeters(7* 5 USA inches) ARTIFACT CONDITION: Good. Intact of sound integrity. But repaired(was broken in half) Moderately light porosity(surface pitting caused by contact with earth while buried) Professionally conserved. DETAIL: A well preserved. Though very simple Roman bronze bracelet circa 1st century A.D. Clearly worn by a child of Ancient Rome(children being considerably smaller than contemporary populations) it would surely ... morefit no-one except for an infant today. The bracelet was recovered in two pieces, which were mended together. Inasmuch as it was fractured once, it would be too susceptible to fracturing again to wear it as a bracelet or even as a pendant on a chain. As is ordinarily the case, the artifact does exhibit some moderately light porosity(surface pitting caused by burial in earth. Although this specimen possesses obvious and unmistakable signs of burial, the piece is not heavily corroded or disfigured. More often than not small ancient metal artifacts such as this are extensively disfigured and suffer substantial degradation as a consequence of the ordeal of being buried for millennia. It is not at all unusual to find metal artifacts decomposed to the point where they are not much more substantial than discolored patterns in the soil. Actually most smaller ancient artifacts such as this are so badly oxidized that oftentimes all that is left is a green(bronze) or red(iron) stain in the soil. Or an artifact which crumbles in your hand. However this specimen is not so heavily afflicted, and certainly has not been disfigured. Relative to the usual condition such a

Though very simple Roman bronze bracelet circa 1st century A.D. Simple as it is, it does sport the fairly uncommon feature of ... morehaving overlapping ends. It would fit a woman of medium build or a man of slender build, and with that caveat, is completely and eminently wearable. The bracelet was recovered unbroken and intact. As is ordinarily the case, the artifact exhibits moderately porosity(surface pitting caused by burial in earth) Unlike so many smaller bronze artifacts which are completely disfigured by corrosion, this particular piece happened to come to rest in fairly gentle soil conditions. The consequence is that though you can see upon close scrutiny clear evidence that this bracelet spent millennia buried beneath the ground, nonetheless to casual examination it is quite pleasant, with the rich, warm glow of ancient bronze. To casual scrutiny it seems simply a primitive bracelet. These slight blemishes are not immediately discernible. Of course in these photo enlargements these blemishes are quite distinct. But in hand, to the casual observer, it simply appears a nicely toned bronze bracelet. Though simple it is sturdy and well constructed, and entirely intact. Despite the obvious signs of burial, the piece is not heavily corroded or disfigured as are commonly most smaller ancient

DETAIL: Ancient Mediterranean cultures(Greek. Roman, Persian, Celt) believed that a garnet could give ... moreits wearer guidance in the night, allowing them to see when others could not. Garnet was also worn for protection when traveling, as garnet was believed to warn the wearer of approaching danger. The ancient Greeks believed it guarded children from drowning, and it was also thought to be a potent antidote against poisons. Often mistaken for alexandrite, and even more rare than alexandrite, here’s an exceptionally uncommon blue garnet of intense hue whose color undergoes a dramatic change to purple when moved from fluorescent(or natural) light to incandescent light. Both color modes. Whether blue or purple, are very rich, saturated hues…not at all pale or washed out. The color under fluorescent light can range from blue to blue-green, but under incandescent light the color is always an intense, dark purple. These fabulous color-change blue color change garnets have only been found in a few places in the world in very limited quantity. Once such find was late in the nineteenth century in Russia, and we managed to secure a small supply of these quite uncommon gemstones during a recent visit to Russia. Like alexandrite and likewise rare Siberian demantoid garnet, the gems

Paleolithic items of adornment have been unearthed that date back 75.000-100,000 years. It is theorized that jewelry originated as a purely functional item used to fasten animal hides together allowing them to be worn as clothing. Findings suggest that jewelry making became more prevalent over 40.000 years ago as mankind migrated from Africa and the Middle East ... moreinto continental Europe. Early necklaces and bracelets were made from readily available materials such as bone, teeth, shells and stone strung together using twine from animal sinew or catgut. The forging of copper some 7.000 years ago allowed metal to be utilized as a material to craft jewelry. The smelting of copper and tin to make the alloy bronze heralded the advent of the Bronze Age some 5.000-6,000 years ago. Excellent Condition. Fully Intact and Unrestored. History of ancient clay pottery. Storage containers. Cookware and dishes were as necessary for ancient civilization as they are for us today. Without much glass and with metal being expensive, clay was a very handy material. Clay was inexpensive and readily available. It is weathered rock that has crumbled to dust. Found in its original location. It is called primary clay. In the Mediterranean region, most clay has been deposited by ... moreglaciers and is known as secondary clay. The impurities in clay give it varying colors. For instance, red clay contains iron. Ancient pottery was frequently made by slaves. What survives is often not high art. Really valuable containers tended to be made of bronze. Silver or gold. However, little of this survives because the metal was reused. Pottery fragments, having no real value, did survive. Despite it being a lesser form than metal-craft, ancient clay pottery evolved into a signicant art form and some excellent creations such as this one still exist.
