Antique leather jewellery box, silk lined, sliding catch, bellows in base - 7"
Interesting and unusual Victorian box- it has a kind of bellows at the bottom so that it can be expanded to take more items. Both the lid and the base are slightly domed. I think it is probably a jewellery box but I have been told it might have been used to carry a prayer book. The sliding catch is something I haven't seen before- it works just as it should. A wonderful antique Staffordshire fox figurine. This clever fox is standing guard over a captured goose. He measures 4" tall and 5" wide. And is in good condition with no hairlines or cracks, although the base he's standing on has a little glaze flake on the edge(near the fox's hind paw) and the bottom was cast imprecisely on one end. This is a lovely wood box from at least 60 years ago judging by all the notations by the owner inside the cover. The cover reads. California's Year-Round Confection- Yost's Stuffed Fruits- The Wawona- 318 No. San Vicente Blvd. West Hollywood, Calif. This is the only writing found on the box. Inside the box, someone has written safe combinations, birthdates, a note from 1945, anniversary information, etc. This was a loved box by someone at one time. There are two gold metal hinges to close or open the cover. Dovetail construction. Wood feet and wood handles(note photos) This wonderful old wooden box measures 13-1/4" from side to side, 9" from back to front and stands 4" tall. STUNNING LARGE Vintage 1940s Wooden Box with Royal Standard& Tartanware Pattern Description This is a really fantastic and unique old wooden box. It is made of a softwood like pine- and is vintage probably from about the 1930s or 1940s. On stylistic grounds. It is a unique piece and you certainly wont find another like it listed on ebay. The post has been beautifully hand decorated- and I have taken a lot of photographs of it in close up so that you can just see how fabulous all the decoration is- it is decorated to the top. Sides, and also the interior. The top has a very fancy image of the Royal Standard- with a crowned British Lion to the left and a unicorn to the right- the hold up the Royal shield- which has a crown above and topped with a regal lion. There is a decorative border around the lid- with representations of the rose of ... moreEngland. Thistle of Scotland, Leek of Wales and Shamrocks for Ireland. The sides have a lovely almost mock mauchline type tartanware all around- with a wavy banding pattern at the top. Red where the lid meets the base section of the box- and a carefully delineated tartan or checked pattern below. The interior is also decorated with a cute abstract pattern as you can see in my photographs- little carefully pinned in brass hinges- a nice detail. It is highly decorative- and it is certainly a one off piece- it must have taken many hours to decoration his beautiful piece. And it looks just fantastic on display. A nice larger size too- great for storing previous objects in- as a jewellery box. Sewing box or trinket box- It measures: Length 9 inches(23 cm) Width 6 3/4 inches(17 cm) and depth when closed is 3 3/8 inches(8.6 cm) It is in perfect condition- with no damages of any kind- beautiful patination and all nicely waxed to keep the wood in tip top condition. An absolutely stunning writing box or lap desk made in exotic Rosewood. Cross-banded in Tulipwood which is bordered each side with various string inlays.The sloped lid has an original central decoupaged picture of Moses being rescued from the river, there is naturally some wear to the panel but now the entire box has been professionally re-polished, it will now be protected. Either side of the box is a heavy cast brass swing handle.The lid opens to reveal a fitted interior with a leather writing slope with gold embossing, this lifts to reveal a large storage compartment for papers or stationery underneath. Behind this slope is a removable tray(with additional space below) which houses the two glass inkwells and lidded compartments for the storage of nibs, a seal and sealing wax.The box remains in excellent condition with some replacement ... morehand-marbled paper and replacement leather scriver. The jar or canister has a little chip along the rim. All the pieces are wood. The apple box lid matches the bottom perfectly. The apple has it's stem. The apple is in vintage antique condition which means there are some scuffs, scratches, etc. The lid is easy to lift off. The apple is part of a collection we are liquidating consisting of 9 wood apple boxes that graduate in size, as shown. You are bidding on one apple, the third in from smallest in the collection. There is one glaze pop line in one edge which isn't a crack but is vetical and is from time of manufacture. Inside will need a cleaning but will leave that up to you so as not to damage this in any way. Some wear on the bottom edges just from use and age but old wear. mot mew and not sharp to the touch. This is for an original old antique Oak wooden box used for holding a BBC The Crystal Set for Radio. The storage box is about 22cm x 17cm at the base and the box is about 15.5cm high, it is complete with BBC type approved by post master general transfer label to the front, and complete with inside instruction label, the condition of the box is excellent with no damage although the inside divider is missing along with the crystal set, so just a nice original old BBC box in a good condition.

VINTAGE HAND-CRAFTED WOODEN BALLOT BOX. Most likely from a 30's- 60's Masonic Lodge or Odd-Fellows. Elks, Eagles, ETC. there is a"57" scrawled in black crayon inside-but I don't know if that is a reference] The four joints of the box are mitered which would suggest an experienced craftsman. Often many of these were made by members. 6&1/2" across and 14&1/2" from face to handle end. Hand carved marble slot(but it has lost its marbles) The handle would suggest that this box was carried around to the voters as in a lodge or union hall.

A dark-stained wooden box. Deeply carved with foliage on the lid, and with a hidden locking mechanism- the front panel slides to the right, releasing the small bent screw that holds the lid closed. Simple but ingenious, and with a folk art look to it- I think German/ Black Forest ware, and early 20th century in date(any info appreciated! Some signs of age, with a broken corner to the base(front right first pic) and nibbles to the back corner(right, second pic) and wear to the interior. It has been refurbished, though, and is a charming thing- the bent screw fastener is a replacement(the original was broken) and it's been given an wax and polish. Vintage Beautiful Korean Trinket Dresser Box Inlaid Mother Of Pearl Grasshopper
Selling a beautiful vintage box from Korea. Made of wood and beautifully lacquered with a black shiny finish. The top has been decorated with a lovely Mother of Pearl design. Which a grasshopper, two butterflies, and leaves and stems. There are some red dots to give interest to the scene. All four sides of the box have mother of pearl ornamentation as well. On the bottom there are gold letters which say Main in Korea. I don't know if that means painted in Korea. Or made in Korea. The box measures 7-1/2 inches by 4-1/4 inches and is about 1-3/4 inches high. The box has been placed on two wooden feet to give it height which adds to the length. Please see photos for condition! OUTSTANDING ANTIQUE REGENCY PENWORK CARD GAMES BOX c1820
Description: A rare example o an exquisetely decorated Regency penwork octoganal card box. Very charming and personal in nature. It is a wonderfully idiosyncratic example of Regency penwork. The interior sectioned into four compartments with the two center for cards and the two sides I presume carried counters. Origin: UK circa 1820 Dimensions: 8" x 6 3/8" x 2 1/4" Materials: walnut carcass with sycamore veneeers and dividers. Condition: Very good/all original. This box boasts it's original finish. As well as the original baize on the base of the box. A crack can be seen inside/bottom, and there is a very slight warp to the lid, both consistent with a wooden box nealy two centuries old. Old glue on top of the lid where it looks like the may been a label at one time, and these are sometimes found on penwork boxes like this ... moreone. Marks consistent with age. Pen work. Or pen and ink, on boxes in Regency times tended to illustrate people and animals in landscapes and/or stylised motifs of flora, fauna and natural scenes. Much like needlework and sketching, it was often carried out at home in one's leisure and as a passtime by ladies whose social standing forbid paid employment but at the same time encouraged artistic pursuits. The techniques actually used for this decoration are not always consistent. Pen work decoration was often applied on light woods, such as sycamore. in black fine lines on a lighter background, though sometimes this was done in reverse over a lightly gessoed surface; as we see in this example. The box would be purchased"in the white" to be taken home and decorated, subsequently it would usually be returned for it's final coat of varnish to protect the handiwork. Penwork adorned many boxes, but it can be also be found on other smaller items such as screens, chess-boards, card-cases, as well as tables, cabinets and othere larger pieces of furniture. This antique wood file box is approximately 9 by 6 by 4-1/2 inches deep. It has tongue and groove sides and is made by Yawman and Erbe Mfg. Co. Their information is printed on the inside of the lid and also on the outside front of the box. On the outside. It is very dark and hard to read. There is a little gap on the back where the bottom piece is wanting to separate a little bit. It has normal scratches and finish wear due to age, but is generally clean and smoke-free. My Selling Policies: All items I sell come from the secondary market(auctions. Flea markets, yard sales) Occasionally I'll find something in new condition, but most antique or collectable items will have normal expected ... morewear for their age. My home is smoke-free and I try not to get smokey items by using the"sniff test" I clean items before offering for sale- I machine wash, steam clean and clean with alcohol or a disinfecting wipe depending on which method suits the item best. Shaw Walker Oak Library Recipe Index Card File Vintage Dove Tail Edges
Pretty old Shaw Walker file box with metal slide that functions perfectly. I have been unable to find another one like it. The name Shaw Walker is perfect. I show in the last picture a scuffed up corner that is hard to see as it must have been stained over at some point. I guess it could have been done when made but doubt it. It does have some scratching throughout that could easily be touched up but all in all it's a great little box. Measures approx 9" x 5 5/8" x 3" deep. Shipping Continental U.S. Only.
