Antique Desk Lock + Keyhole No Key 1790-1810 Secretaire Restoration Hardware
I have an Antique Desk Lock. With Keyhole insert that came off of a 1790-1810 European Secretaire. There is no key included. It's made of brass and has Patent stamped on it and and upside down"R" with a mark that looks like a two toed dog paw. Measurments are 2 9/16 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 1/2 inch thick, not including the key pin. These are as removed from the furniture and have not been cleaned or altered in any way. I cannot attest to whether the item operates correctly, without a key, but inspection reveals nothing out of place, worn out or missing. Items sold as is. I have the side latches. A FINE QUALITY 19th CENTURY ROSEWOOD TRAVELLING CABINET You are viewing a stunning very fine quality 19th century Victorian rosewood 7 draw er trav elling cabinet. With a mo lded top. And a mirro red hinged lockable door below. W hich has an intricate fretwork border. Internally there are two short top drawers and f o ur large draw ers(some with partit ioned co m partments) Where the lower drawer contains a removable hinged writing slope with orig inal valour lining. See photos 6, 7& 8. The top moulding at the top reveals a s mall secret drawer. See photo 4. The drawers have litt le bone knobs which differ very slightly in size. Please take time to study the photographs to gain an appreciation of this unusual and very col lectable cabinet. The rosewood grain and colour looks rich in real life. Flash photo graphs do not do this cabinet ... morejustice. I believe this cabinet is all original including the brass hinges and lock which is in working order with replacement key provided. The con dition of th is very unusual and rare piece is quite exceptional considering the age with no major damage. Cracking, warping or restoration work, I bel ieve that it has not been touched(repaired/ items replaced) since the day it was made. There is a slight piece of missing ven eer to the top rear corn er(see photo 12) and a small crack in the base of the writing slope(see photo 8) Please see all the photographs for overall condition. This attractive large wooden cigarette box is inlaid with thousands of tiny pieces of bone.Mother of pearl and wood,many of them coloured. Incredibly every piece is still intact and in perfect condition. It opens to reveal four wooden shelves.Each of which holds 10 cigarettes. The wind-up musical movement plays when you open the box. Possibly to alert the owner if somebody tries to steal one! There are four wooden feet to prevent the key hitting the surface on which the box is standing. The overall measurement is 9ins/23cms by 8ins/20cms and it is 4ins/10cms high. It weighs 1200 grammes. I do not know the exact age but would think it to be 1960.S

This eight-sided 18th Century tea box is called the Williamsburg Octagonal Tea Caddy as produced by the Kittinger Co. in the 1950s or early 1960s. The old Kittenger Colonial Williamsburg catalog number is AP 101. The Williamsburg Tea Caddy is a copy of an English Chippendale portable tea chest of 1760.It has 25 separate hand-assembled mahogany wood sections. The hinge& handle are brass. The interior is foil lined and the brass key and lock still are in working order. All original components still intact including handle, hinge, escutcheon, key and lock. These boxes were designed to hold tea but can be used for tobacco or jewelry. Size is 5 1/2 inches high(to brass handle) and 6 ¼ inches diameter. Up for your consideration is this nice old English Lap Desk.This item does show signs of age and rightly so has it is old.On the inside there are 3 small wood lids that are missing also the small lid pull on the lid between the ink bottles is missing along with a missing key.If you look on the bottom you will see 2 cracks running side to side.This is most likely due to the age of the wood.There is some minor veneer work that could be done here and there but in my opinion its best left alone.There is also a few very small chips on the glass ink bottles.The Solid brass caps on the ink bottles have writing on them that reads,PATENT LONDON along with a Raised Crown.The felt on the inside looks to be all original. Beautiful Russian lacquered box. Please see tag for identification(if you can read Russian) Nice red lining! Some minor scuffs and nicks on edges. Front top edge and bottom, and what looks like a label line in the lacquer on the sides was noticed. No bubbling or cracking noted. On very close inspection a very light scratch was noticed running from the wrist to the feather but it is only observable in certain lighting and was not prominent enough to be picked up on the picture. CONDITION: The condition is good for it’s age and remarkably it still has it’s key! Lock still works fine although the key is slightly bent. A couple of small bits of the veneer are missing– see pics. A round repair to the veneer can also be seen on the lid– about the size of a 5p piece- see pics. The brass handle is held in by two brass eyelets– these are both loose and want gluing in place. The interior compartments are not complete– see pics. Its original brass hinges are intact and the lid closes nicely.
