Sorry the door knob was nowhere to be found. I'm sure you can get a replacement knob and a universal skeleton key. I don't see any reason why the lock wouldn't work. I don't know for sure how old this door is and carbon dating takes way to long. But I would guess it is around 100 years old. It came out of a house that was built around 1904; I would say that is a fair date for the door as well. Condition: There are a couple of nail holes in one side; it looks like there was some type of rack attached to it and a hasp for a lock too. Also on one side the varnish is tarnished. But the door is solid and does not have any signs of rot or cracks. It could easily be sanded down and refinished. They just don't make doors like this anymore folks. Has a beautiful design with the Mother Of Pearl inlay and painted designs all around, lock catch is missing, all as found, still displays well in any collection, and priced accordingly to condition, if it was in exc condition and complete, they sell for as high as $450.00 to $650.00 in value. Natural White Pearl Shell Block Laminate Sheet 4x2
Hi. On offer is this sheet of Thinly Sliced White Pearl Shell Block Pattern Laminate which has been coated with a protective varnish. It would be suitable a multitude of uses including Jewellery Making, Repairing Inlay, Scrapbooking, Luthier Work etc. etc. etc. This sheet measures 4 inches by 2 inches and is 1/3 of a mm thick. This laminate is in a block pattern which can give you long continous strips of shell, although the potential for longer strips is better on larger sheets. This sheet is made from very thin slices of Real Pearl shell laminated on to a resin backing. It is VERY EASY to cut using a craft knife or sharp scissors. Please find for sale a superb looking vintage/ antique Eastern mother of pearl. Carved ox bone and white wood inlaid box having a green silk lining and laced border. In fairly good vintage. Used condition. The hinges have been replaced and the clasp is broken and will need a new catch- This makes the lid stay slightly open on the right hand side- perhaps about 5mm. There are 3- 5 small mother of pearl pieces missing. The silk shows signs of wear and the lace border has been torn in one place. Stunning Antique English Parquetry Inlaid Writing Slope / Lap Desk c.1860
The exquisite work on this Victorian writing box is quite outstanding. Intricate quality work and highly decorative. The box is finished in Walnut with exotic woods used to create a plethora of exciting designs on all sides of the box, a true sign of quality to have this fine work all around. The box does not have a key, the fitted interior would be damaged if the lock was removed. Once opened, you can see that all of the internal brass fittings have been professionally re-polished to gleam and a new writing skiver has been fitted with gold embossing. There is a cut crystal inkwell with a lift off lid(a few rough spots around the interior neck, mentioned purely for accuracy) a removable pen tray and another little lidded compartment for pen nibs and the like. Wonderful Antique Folk Art Wooden Puss in Boots Shoe Bank ~Excellent~
This wonderful antique still bank is in the shape of a dutch shoe. Puss in Boots is line carved and painted on the front of the shoe. The shoe has a lid that swings open and has two small loops that could be used to put a chain and padlock on the bank. The shoe is mounted on a decorative plaque. The top of the shoe has a coin slot and is decorated with carved flowers. The shoe measures 6 7/8" in length and is about 2.5" tall. The bottom plaque measures 7 7/8" x 3 7/8" at the widest point. American Lap Desk late 18th Century
Remarkable does not go far enough to describe this writing slope/slant top desk. It is American. It is grain painted. It heralds from the Post Colonial early American Federal period(prior to 1800) The main wood is yellow pine suggesting an origin from the mid-Atlantic coastal area. It is a survivor and almost totally intact. Missing only the top of the lock latch; the writing boards may be a replacement and the fabric is relatively new. I purchased this out of a private collection(middle Indiana) two decades ago and it has been the center point of a collection of 15 slopes which I am now selling. All of the hinges and side grips are original to the box. The jointery and bottom of drawers clearly are pre 1800. Interestingly. The bottoms of the two interior drawyers are made of scrap wood, entirely consistent with how these items were made ... morein the post Colonial period; finished and planed wood was scarce and valueable. There is a big surprise when you open the box and pull up the lower writing board. Beautifully Decorated Wooden Arts & Crafts Box for Bridge Cards Pewter & Stones
For sale is an Arts& Crafts wooden hinged box beautifully decorated with pewter ornaments with little faux turquoise stones on top and on all 4 sides. I don't think they are stones. They look like glazed pottery beads, but I don't really know. On both sides the central stone is missing. Otherwise all the stones are in the little pewter ornaments front and back and on top. There is wear around the corners of the pewter decorations, some scratches and little dents and there is wear to the corners of the wooden box, scratches and discolouration and it does need a clean. Inside it is covered with purple velvet and divided in 2 compartments. A beautiful box which measures about 15cm by 18cm(6” by 7" and it is about 5.5cm(just over 2" high. Antique Treen - Oriental Carved Wooden Box with Dragon Relief - VGC
This is an old piece of woodenware in good original condition. It is very nicely made and is not damaged but it could do with a light clean to remove some dust. It is an Antique Carved Wooden Box with a hinged lid. I am unsure as to its actual age. I believe it to be hand made with all of the decoration being made by hand too. It has an oriental design and all faces are carved with dragons with the lid having a very detailed refief of some depth. It is lovely proportions being 8 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches tall and it is 5 inches deep. The inside is split into two compartments and they are lined with fretwork panels. The inside of the lid has a crest of initials"MMC" carved into it(or a similar combination of letters) I am unsure as to the relevence of this. Antique Pennsylvania Dutch Box, Handmade Folk Art Box, Bird Flowers .w/ Lock,L&R
Up for sale is a wonderful Antique Pennsylvania Dutch Tole Painted Folk Art Box. It measures 9 1/4" wide by 4" tall by 6 1/4" deep. It has a great design on top of the box with double tulips with a center flower in mustard yellows blue whites etc the outside trim of the lid is decorated in a rolling old blue scrolling pattern. And on the front side where the lock hole is it has a Heart surrounded by 3 red& yellow flowers with green leaves and more blue scrolling. And on the side ends of the box it has blue& red birds with big feathered tails and a cute looking stance. this is a classic styled Pennsylvania dutch box. There is some wear to the paint due to age it has a bit of flaking but its better left alone it really does have more character that way. on the bottom of the box it looks like some one used some nails to ... morefix or tighten up the floor of the box and they also used a few old thumb tacks. Antique Wooden Box - ROYAL POLISH - 1886
We have an antique wooden box from the S.M. BIXBY& CO. New York, for one dozen bottles of shoe polish. Up in the top right hand corner is the no. 86, we believe that to be 1886. The writing is on both ends of the box, nothing on the sides. The bottom has been worn smooth from wear. The box joints- I pictured the worst joint we have in picture no. 5. The corners of the box joints are rounded from handling of the box. It measures 9 7/8" in length, 5 3/8" in height, and 7 3/8" in width. There is one line at the bottom that I almost worn off, and the only words we can make out are the last two"childrens shoes" Shows a lot of wear, a really great old piece- guaranteed antique box. From the Netherlands comes this bentwood box measuring 6 3/8" by 3 1/8" by 2 3/4" tall. A fine quality piece with great color and patina! In good condition.
