Neolithic 29mm Width: 11mm Material: Flint Colour: Grey/ Purple Type: Serrated Leaf Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. This is not a reflection on the density of usage of these items but more a reflection of the areas current climate- being very arid it makes it easier to find these items. The Sahara is the world's largest hot desert. Over 9,000,000 km²(3,500,000 mi²) almost as large as the United States. The Sahara is located in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. Its name, Sahara, is an English pronunciation of the word for desert in Arabic. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic Ocean on the west. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on ... morethe south. The Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains(a region of desert mountains and high plateaus) Tenere desert and the Libyan desert(the most arid region) The highest peak in the Sahara is Emi Koussi(3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. The Sahara divides the continent of Africa into North and Sub-Saharan Africa. The southern border of the Sahara is marked by a band of semiarid savanna called the Sahel; south of the Sahel lies the lusher Sudan and the Congo River Basin. During the Late Neolithic period(approx 4000BC– 2000BC) the Sahara had a much wetter climate(sometimes known as the Aqualithic) and was akin to modern day North America. But it still is a powerful piece. Beautifully polished and patinad. Finders name is written on the axe, but is difficult to read. The find date is 1856. Neolithic Danish thick necked axe, Single grave, V-formed type, ca. 2000-1500 BC
Neolithic Danish thick necked axe. Single grave culture, V-formed type, ca. 2000-1500 BC Weight: 79 grams. Length: 12.25 cm. Width: 5.50 cm, height: 2.75 cm These V-formed type axes are from the late Single grave period. This is a beautiful example. The lovely dark brown colour often occurs in axes found in the Vildemose area. This axe has a wonderful patina and shows a really advanced knapping technique. I.e. the zigzag edge. This is a working axe and it has been retouched in ancient times, but that takes nothing from the beauty of the piece. a1.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*3Ad%60%3Ea1%3E-13f9374ce75-0xfb-

This might be a genuine old reworked break or it is just the natural end of the flake, the partly dark color of the flint is part of the patination pattern and not due to a recent damage! ... moreThe left edge has a fine retouch which is partly covered by matrix, Raw-material: marbled gray patinated flint, Preservation: very well. No modern damages, Origin. Site: a famous Paleolithic site in the valley of a tributary of the Dordogne river. Dept. Dordogne, France, occupied by the Neanderthals. 80.000Y.O: FANTASTIC FLINT TOOL STONE AGE PALEOLITHIC NEANDERTHAL MEN MOUSTERIAN
EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description of the Homo Neanderthalensis- the Neanderthal( Neandertal) men from the Mousterian phase about 100.000- 60.000 years ago. It is a borer or a burin with trimmed rear edge! The Mousterian industry appeared around 200.000 years ago and persisted until about 40,000 years ago, in much the same areas of Europe, the Near East and Africa where Acheulean tools appear. In Europe these tools are most closely associated with Homo neanderthalensis, but elsewhere were made by both Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens. Mousterian tools required a preliminary shaping of the stone core from which the actual blade is struck off. The toolmakers either shaped a rock into a rounded surface before striking off the raised area as a wedge shaped flake(see photo at left) or they shaped the ... morecore as a long prism of stone before striking off triangular flakes from its length, like slices from a baguette. Because Mousterian tools were conceived as refinements on a few distinct core shapes, the whole process of making tools had standardized into explicit stages(basic core stone, rough blank, refined final tool) Variations in tool shapes could be produced by changes in the procedures at any stage. A consistent manufacturing goal was to increase as much as possible the cutting area on each blade. Though this made the toolmaking process more labor intensive, it also meant the edges of the tools could be reshaped or sharpened as they dulled, so that each tool lasted longer. The whole toolmaking industry had adapted to get the maximum utility from the labor invested at each step. Tool forms in the Mousterian industry display a wide range of specialized shapes. Cutting tools include notched flakes, denticulate(serrated) flakes, and flake blades similar to Upper Paleolithic tools. Points appear that seem designed for use in spears or lances, some including a tang or stub at the base that allowed the point to be tied into the notched end of a stick. Scrapers appear

Neolithic Flint Arrowhead 28mm - 4000BC (D061)
Neolithic 28mm Width: 13mm Material: Flint Colour: Grey Type: Tanged Triangle Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on the south. ... moreThe Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains(a region of desert mountains and high plateaus) Tenere desert and the Libyan desert(the most arid region) The highest peak in the Sahara is Emi Koussi(3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. British Antiquities, unresearched painted stone pebble find, ancient art ?
British Antiquities. Unresearched painted stone pebble find, ancient art? No reserve auction This was found in the garden of an East Northamptonshire village named Wadenhoe. Within stones removed from an excavation of previously undisturbed clay soil, at a depth of 5ft below ground level, under a small hill, adjacent to a building dating to the 17th century. Stunning Long Retouched Blade used as Burin, Upper Paleolithic Aurignacian
Stunning Long Retouched Blade used as Burin. Upper Paleolithic Aurignacian Description Type: retouched blade used as burin. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Upper Paleolithic/ Palaeolithic: Aurignacian. Dating: approx. 38.000 to 28.000 B.C. Description: Size: length 8.2 cm, weight 10 grams, Shape. Retouch: a stunning long narrow blade with a slight twist. With very interesting distal end, shown in pictures 3 to 8. This distal end has a retouch at one edge and the narrow end, and fine use scars at the other sharp edges, so it was most likely used as burin. But this is NOT a burin, even if the face shown in picture 4 and 5(left part) looks like a burin edge. The burin blow would have been struck from the narrow retouched distal end and would have a small negative bulb of percussion. This“burin blow” is a part of a pattern which already came into ... morebeing on the core the blade was struck off. So, this is, aside of a being great blade which was used as burin, an interesting educational tool for all who want to learn something about burins. The edge itself is very fine serrated, the ancestor of our todays serrated knives. ... moreDistal end of the tool has a natural notch, Raw-material: bright gray patinated flint, Preservation: very well. Fantastic Quartzite Chopper, Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx. 600.000 BC
Fantastic Quartzite Chopper. Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx. 600.000 BC Description Type: chopper. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Lower Palaeolithic. Lower Acheulian. Dating: archaeological research in Western Europe proved that the European continent has been conquested as early as 1.3 to 1,1 Mio years(finds of Atapuerca/ Spain) Early Pleistocene. The assignment of the oldest human finds at Atapuerca to a particular early human species as Homo erectus or Homo antecessor is still controversial. As controversially discussed is the earliest date of permanent colonization of Europe, and good dating of the high gravel terraces of southern French rivers is still lacking. So we suggest an estimated time frame of approx. 800.000 to 400.000 BP. Description: Size: length 9.2 cm, width 10,3 cm, thickness 6,7 cm, weight 790 grams, Shape. Retouch: ... morea fantastic quartzite chopper of wedge shape. With thick butt and thin straight working edge, retouched with broad and finer flaking up to the face of the chopper. What makes this tool so very special are the countless small stepped use-scars along the working edge, as well as some quite large ones on the interior side. Such well defined use-scars are rarely found on old tools, usually it is quite difficult to distinguish between man-made intentional retouch and use-scars. Left edge and butt are cortical, the right edge is broadly trimmed with at least one well defined flake scar. Raw-material: a grey quartzite pebble. The most common raw-material on the Garonne terraces. Preservation: very well: one small flat modern chip on the interior side. Of slightly different color than the old use-scars. There is still some matrix from the original site layer adhering to the surface, a wonderful proof of the tool and retouch being genuine old. Additional Information. Literature: The pebble tools found on the high gravel terraces of the Garonne. Tarn and Aveyron river are among the earliest tools found in Europe. Lit: A. Up for bid are these 2 arrow heads and one spear point. Not sure what happened. But these were found in east Texas, in same area. Neolithic Flint Arrowhead 30mm - 4000BC (D049)
Neolithic 30mm Width: 12mm Material: Flint Colour: Purple/ Grey Type: Tanged Triangle Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River ... moreon the south. Arrowheads are typically collected and traded by the local nomadic peoples of the Sahara. They find them as the sand dunes move and they travel around seasonally grazing their herds.
