Copied from the Internet: Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 THE SOLUTREAN UPPER PALEOLITHIC PERIOD FRANCE. SPAIN& PORTUGAL Estimated 21.000 TO 18,000 YEARS AGO The Solutrean industrial complex appears in western Europe approximately 21.000 years ago. The Solutrean period also brings with it several new and innovative technologies. One of the most important developments during this period involves lithic technology with the production of very skillfully crafted stone tools. These events occur within the last major division ... moreof the Old World Paleolithic called the Upper Paleolithic which dates from 40,000 to 10,000 years ago. The Neanderthals disappear during this time and the basic ideals of what we believe it is to be a modern human are established. It's a time when ghosts and spirits appear to connect with concepts of an afterlife and art in the form of paintings, engravings and three dimensional sculptures appear. The Solutrean people were skilled hunters who were well adapted to a rigorous cold environment. They lived in rock shelters. Caves and open air sites. In lithic technology, their most significant invention was the ability to manufacture thin bifaces in the form of laurel-leaves. During the Upper Solutrean phase they were producing willow leaf, single shouldered, barbed and concave base projectile points. Although the most important Solutrean site is Laugerie Haute the type site for the Solutrean complex is located at Solutre in eastern France. In 1921 R. A. S. Macalister writes, Close to the village of Solutre near Macon(Saone-et-Loire) there rises a prominent cliff, called the Rock of Solutre, in the shelter of which was established one of the most important Paleolithic stations of

7500Y.O: GREAT ARROW HEAD POINT STONE AGE NEOLITHIC FLINT LINEAR POTTERY CULTURE
MIDDLE EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description very typical arrow head( arrow point) from the Early Neolithic Linear Pottery Culture. Dating 5600/5500-4900 bc. The Linear Pottery culture or(German) Linearbandkeramik(abbr. LBK) Bandkeramik, Linear Band Pottery culture, Linear(Band) Ware culture, Linear Ceramics culture, Danubian I culture of V. Gordon Childe, Early Danubian culture or Incised Ware Group is a major archaeological horizon of the European Neolithic(stone age) flourishing ca. 5500—4500 BC. The heaviest concentrations are on the middle Danube, the upper and middle Elbe, and the upper and middle Rhine. The LBK represents the advent of agriculture into this part of the world. The LBK at maximum extent ranged from about the line of the Seine—Oise(Paris Basin) eastward to the line of the Vistula ... moreand upper Dniester, and southward to the line of the upper Danube down to the big bend. An extension ran through the Western Bug river valley, leaped to the valley of the Dniester, and swerved southward from the middle Dniester to the lower Danube in eastern Romania, east of the Carpathians. Danube lands near Vienna, by Johann Christian Brand, ca. 1760The LBK did not begin with this range and only reached it toward the end of its time. It began in regions of densest occupation on the middle Danube(Bohemia, Moravia, Hungary) and spread over about 1500 km along the rivers in 360 years. The rate of expansion was therefore about 4 km per year, which can hardly be called an invasion or a wave and does not offer much support to theories of population replacement. A model of gradual colonization is perhaps most apt. The LBK was concentrated somewhat inland from the coastal areas; i.e. it is not evidenced in Denmark or the northern coastal strips of Germany and Poland, or the coast of the Black Sea in Romania. The northern coastal regions remained occupied by Mesolithic cultures exploiting the then fabulously rich Atlantic salmon runs. There are lighter concentrations of LBK

The Neolithic cultures in Africa existed 4.000- 6,000 years ago(possibly older as some new evidence suggest) throughout regions of the Sahara desert. Before the Sahara was a desert these groups thrived in its vast grasslands and fruitful jungles. Today little in known about these lost people. The sands are constantly shifting moving the sites and artifacts ... moreto different areas. Due to the sand changes, archaeological studies are very slim. Sites shift, tumble and move so there is no layering to study. Collector Grade artifacts are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Kevin Pipes has been in the business of collecting artifacts since he was child and has been selling them for at least 30 years. He is well established in the artifact and knife communities. High Quality Neolithic Flint Arrowhead 41mm - 4000BC (C021)
Neolithic Flint Arrowhead Length: 41mm Width: 20mm Material: Flint Colour: Grey/ Brown Type: Leaf Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara A superior quality beautiful example. I have personally handled over 10.000 of these'flints' during my collecting over the last 10 years. The majority of flints on the market today were found in North West Africa. This is not a reflection on the density of usage of these items but more a reflection of the areas current climate- being very arid it makes it easier to find these items. The Sahara is the world's largest hot desert. Over 9,000,000 km²(3,500,000 mi²) almost as large as the United States. The Sahara is located in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. Its name, Sahara, is an English pronunciation of the word for desert in Arabic. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic Ocean ... moreon the west. The Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the north, the Red Sea and Egypt on the east, and the Sudan and the valley of the Niger River on the south. The Sahara is divided into western Sahara, the central Ahaggar Mountains, the Tibesti Mountains, the Aïr Mountains(a region of desert mountains and high plateaus) Tenere desert and the Libyan desert(the most arid region) The highest peak in the Sahara is Emi Koussi(3415 m) in the Tibesti Mountains in northern Chad. The Sahara divides the continent of Africa into North and Sub-Saharan Africa. The southern border of the Sahara is marked by a band of semiarid savanna called the Sahel; south of the Sahel lies the lusher Sudan and the Congo River Basin. During the Late Neolithic period(approx 4000BC– 2000BC) the Sahara had a much wetter climate(sometimes known as the Aqualithic) and was akin to modern day North America. Arrowheads are typically collected and traded by the local nomadic peoples of the Sahara. They find them as the sand dunes move and they travel around seasonally grazing their herds. Finding and collecting items such as these provides them with a reasonable, stable income. Payment via Paypal onl

22 good, common-grade Sahara Neolithic points and tools
Lot Description: This is a diverse group of 22 good. Common-grade Sahara desert found tools. This lot is composed of a diverse group of projectile point and tools forms. The lot consist of all the main types including stemmed. Triangular, ovate, and unifacial and are mostly from the southwestern Sahara(northern Mauritania/Mali) Th ese tools were used to hunt and process water fowl and other game in the now dried up lakes of the Sahara 4.000 years ago. These tools are of mixed size. The shortest tool is 11/16th inch long(17 mm) The longest tool is 2 inches(52 mm) The condition is good. There are ancient dings to some of these points and tools, as can be expected with working tools. These small tools were used and lost or discarded when they became too small to use; most are complete. See picture for details. The color in hand. Is better than ... morethe picture indicates. The natural light somehow washes out the color or maybe it's my photography skills. These relics are representative of everyday tools. Many of these tools were used until they could no longer function well because they were to small to re-sharpen at which point they were discarded others were lost in the hunt. A nice diverse sampling of Sahara tools! Background information is provided with my 2-page essay on the subject. Which will be included. Neolithic populations living near now dried lakes and rivers in what is now the Sahara desert; used these tools in the hunt for and processing of waterfowl and small game. The end of the Ice Age resulted in global climate changes which stopped the rains and forced these Neolithic(New Stone Age) peoples into new modes of existence. Either agriculture which was just beginning at the end of the Neolithic, or a nomadic animal husbandry mode of existence. The New Stone Age was a very dynamic era giving rise to agriculture, pottery, and permanent settlements, all of which were milestones in humankinds march toward'civilized' life. The Sahara Neolithic lasted from 9,000 to 4,000 BP(years Before Present) I wil

3 x Neolithic Flint Arrowheads - 4000BC (C059)
3 x Neolithic Flint Arrowheads Material: Flint Colour: Various Type: Various Age: 4000BC Area: Sahara 5p(18mm) to give indication of size and not included in the auction. The boundaries of the Sahara are the Atlantic ... moreOcean on the west. Payment via

Exceptional Burin on Long Flint Blade, Upper Paleolithic Aurignacian 35.000 BC
Exceptional Burin on Long Flint Blade. Upper Paleolithic Aurignacian 35.000 BC Description Type: burin on break on blade. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Upper Paleolithic/ Palaeolithic: Aurignacian. Dating: approx. 38.000 to 28.000 B.C. Description: Size: length 9.0 cm, weight 29 grams, Shape. Retouch: a very interesting burin on long blade: it is made on break and has at least one short burin blow at the right edge. The shape of this burin/ working edge is exceptional. It is a Zinken/borer-like tip which is also trimmed at the distal end and on the exterior side. The proximal end is as interesting: it is also a break, the cortical area at the left edge of the interior side is removed with two burin-blow like strikes(pictures 7, 8) The edge is too blunt and thick to be used as burin, but the break looks used and we suspect that the cortex ... morewas removed because it just stood in the way for proper use of the broken end. Gorgeous Retouched Levallois Point, Mousterian Famous Provenance 50.000 BC
Gorgeous Retouched Levallois Point. Mousterian Famous Provenance 50.000 BC Description Type: laterally retouched Levallois point. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Middle Palaeolithic: Mousterian/ Mousterian in Acheulian Tradition(MAT) Dating: the particular site: ca. 55.000- 40.000 B.C. Description: Size: length 6.3 cm, weight 34 grams, Shape. Retouch: a gorgeous Levallois point with fine accommodation retouch at the left edge and significant retouch at the right one. The tip even has a retouch on the interior side. Some technological remarks: this is a Levallois point although point of percussion is not at the bottom end of the long axis of the point. But at the margin of the prepared platform remnant. This is due to the way target-flakes were detached from a core. Often, one target-flake was detached from the center of a reduction face, and ... morethen one was detached left and right. This point here is a right one, the cortical area at the proximal end was part of the core’s right margin, and the faceted part at the proximal end was part of the core’s pepared platform. Anyway, this is not a core preparation flake/ pseudo-Levallois flake! Raw-material: brown flint with some white patination, Preservation: very well. No modern damages, Origin. Site: Le Moustier. Fantastic Quartzite Handaxe, Lower Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx 600.000 BC
Fantastic Quartzite Handaxe. Lower Paleolithic Lower Acheulian approx 600.000 BC Description Type: handaxe. Cleaver-like specimen on flake. Paleolithic Period. Industry: Lower Palaeolithic. Lower Acheulian. Dating: archaeological research in Western Europe proved that the European continent has been conquested as early as 1.3 to 1,1 Mio years(finds of Atapuerca/ Spain) Early Pleistocene. The assignment of the oldest human finds at Atapuerca to a particular early human species as Homo erectus or Homo antecessor is still controversial. As controversially discussed is the earliest date of permanent colonization of Europe, and good dating of the high gravel terraces of southern French rivers is still lacking. So we suggest an estimated time frame of approx. 800.000 to 400.000 BP. Description: Size: length 15.4 cm, width 8,6 cm, thickness 5,8 ... morecm, weight 715 grams, Shape. Retouch: a fantastic and very interesting handaxe. Made on a large flake. Point of percussion is removed, it must have been somewhere at the proximal part of the left edge of the face shown in picture 3. The handaxe is of asymmetrical wedge shape, with a steep back at the right edge of the face shown first, and a cutting/ working edge opposite. The tip is pointed and triangular, with medial ridge on the face shown first. Facial retouch is made with broad flaking, mainly on the proximal part of both faces. The back is worked with broad and some finer flaking, and the thin working edge is wavy at the proximal part where the edge is trimmed, and straight at the distal part where no additional retouch was needed. This handaxe can be classified as cleaver-like specimen(the working edge being the thin long lateral edge) or as pointed specimen because of the very pointed pronounced tip, or as backed handaxe because of it’s thick steep back. Raw-material: a grey quartzite pebble. The most common raw-material on the Garonne terraces. Preservation: very well: two recent chips and some small surface abrasion at the distal part of the left edge of the fac

Female figurine with prominent female attributes. These kind of figurines originate from the old Chalcolithic(also known as Eneolithic or Copper Age) period. The figurine is decorated with circle motifs. Curved and zig-zag lines. According to some experts. These kind of figurines had been used in some cults of fertility, but in same time to emphasize the beauty of the woman. And to celebrate her as a great wife and mother. The figurine is set on pedestal. And complete dimensions(figurine + pedestal) are about 15-6 cm height and about 8-9 cm wide.
ENEOLITHIC COPPER AGE FEMALE ATTRIBUTES BUTTOCKS VASE -CULTS RITUALS MAGIC WOMAN
Anthropomorphic vase with prominent female attributes made of terracotta. It is dated in the Copper-Ag e period and found at Eneolithic settlement in Macedonia. It is decorated with special technique– pitting. Using sharp tools and objects. Which is a specific and very popular technique for decorating in this period. This anthropomorphic vase also has two legs on the lower part of its body. Which are made smaller than the rest of the body and it also has interesting function– to emphasize the rest of the body itself for the importance it has– that the female attributes shown in the whole figure are so important and that it also has a place in the Copper-Age cults. Dimensions: 8.5 x 8 cm/ 3,34 x 3,14 inches. RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2Bf%60%60%3E-13f3d2a32a2-0xfd-
