Native American Makah Northwest coastal Indian - Three trade baskets
NW Coastal Indian Trade baskets attributed to the Makah I estimate these baskets to be from the 1930's The sizes are; Round 2& 3/4 inches high by 4 7 1/4 inches across. Oblong 2& 3/4 inches high by 4& 6/8 th length and 3 inches across. Rectangle 3& 1/4 inches high by 5& 7/8 inches length and 3& 5/8 across. I've attached plenty of photos that show the baskets condition very well. the rectangle basket had at one time been stained on the bottom and a small spot on the side by an ink well spill. You can tell by the photo that the ink did not go through to the inside. At one time all of these baskets had lids. They all still have some very nice bright colors and would show well in any collection. These baskets have been in a glass show case for the past 25 years. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best ... moreto answer promptly.
3 Tohono O'odham Papago Indian Native American Handwoven Baskets Collection
Here's a bargain. Great for a beginnin g collector of Native American baskets. I'm offering 3 vintage Tohono O'odham( Pa pago) baskets which show the coiled bear grass and yucca feather stitching customary to these talented basket makers. They were purchased from a collector in Arizona. Non e of them came with tags i d entifying the m akers as they were purchased by the collector directly from the craftspeople. Not from a store. The lidded basket measures just under 3 inches tall. As noted. It has the greenish tint to the lid. The bowl measures 6 inches across and 3 inches tall. It has a few discolored spots on the exterior but I can't tell if this is from use or just natural to the plant. The large plate ba sket does show its age. Eit her someone used this over a fire or put a wet potted plant down in the middle. See the ... moredark spot in center of bas ket. It still displays nicely. Particularly if you put the bowl basket in the center of it. This measures 10 1/2 inches across and the rim is approx. 1 1/2 inches Our Native American and First Nation items have been collected from various places-auctions. Estate sales, pow wows and craft stores from our travels. Many of our First Nation items, especially quill boxes, were purchased on Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college, it's time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with others. Please see my other auctions currently running. I'm happy to combine shipping on like items. Unfor tunately. I can't combine book lots with collectible lots. Also, because of the zone shipping charges, I've estimated highest shipping. If you live close and shipping is less. I'll refund the difference. Thanks!

These came from the estate of an Iowa woman who was a coordinator for missionaries in the 1960's. They brought back gifts to her from the various Reservations they visited and she dated. Tagged and stored them. She must have continued to collect because there were newer items also. These were not tagged, I have no idea of the tribal affiliation. Antique VTG Miniature Native American Indian Baskets Limited Beadwork Florida
Estate found.five miniature antique/vintage Native American Indian baskets with limited beadwork. Very possibly a Florida tribe? I am not knowledgeable in Native American artifacts other than recognizing that they are Native American crafted and have age to them. Any help from experts is always appreciated so that I can give proper attribution to the tribe. All baskets are in what I consider excellent condition.no holes. Tears, fraying etc. The weave is tight. All appear have a patina. There are no missing beads. The baskets measures between 4" and 1 3/4" tall with the diameters being between 3" and 2" I do not know what material(grass, reed etc.these were crafted from, but, the largest basket with handle appears to be woven of pine needles. The purple/mulberry dyed basket has a*fringe* edging with beaded design. One other ... morebasket has this*fringe* edging with beaded design. The basket with all yellow beading had a lid with beaded handle on top. Please refer to all photos closely, ask questions(I will answer them as honestly and accurately as I am able) Again, any help with identifying the tribe would be greatly appreciated. International buyers, please ask for shipping quote before bidding. No shipping to Italy. Thank you!
Basket Set: Two Colorful Hand Coiled Lidded Native African Knobtop Baskets
Up for auction is a pair of well-crafted round coiled grass baskets made by one of the tribes of East Africa. The weavers of this area are renowned for the fineness and attractiveness of their weaving. And have raised their basketry into a true art form. These basket are coiled in the traditional East African styles, with their rounded bodies and lids with a knob top finial. Each basket has a deep shape with an attractive pattern of colorful lacing around the perimeter. I love the warm and vibrant colors the weaver chose for her creations. The lids have an inner lip so that they fit snugly to the body of the basket. This attractive and symmetrical basket set makes a very nice display. A nice set! The baskets are a nice medium size for these coiled African lidded baskets. The larger measures 5" across. And with a nice deep shape, about ... more4½" deep to the top of the finial. The smaller is 4" in diameter and 4¼" tall. These attractive baskets are in really nice condition. If you look carefully at the underside of the larger basket, you can find a single loose end of one of the wraps, but this is the only exception. Aside from that one flaw, neither basket has any breaks, stains, or any other damage. See photos, as they give a true picture of the baskets' features and condition. A very nice and well-crafted native tribal basket set from Africa! Additional Notes: I will be happy to provide discounted shipping for multiple items. Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions. And please take a look at my other auctions I'm listing today to see some more great vintage baskets. to take a look at my other listings. to read my eBay guide on Indian baskets.

Baskets set of two hand woven Tarahumara native indians Mexico
These is a set of two small baskets. 6"h x 6"w. And 4"h x 5"w. I displayed them in my home office decorated with my collection of Southwestern, native American and other handmade crafts from Mexico, Peru and the American southwest. More items will be listed soon. I bought these baskets in one of my Mexico travels in 1997. Soledad. A young woman then, beautifully dressed in her handmade, colorful Indian dress, was sitting by the side of the dirt pathway, weaving and selling her baskets to the tourists. Her husband was cultivating the parcel of land next to their small adobe house. Getting the soil ready to plant corn an beans. I bought several baskets and asked her to sign them for me. The Tarahumara Indians don't normally sign their wares. They are modest. And everything they make has a utilitarian purpose. The Tarahumara ... moreare beautiful indigenous people of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. They are related to the Yaqui and have links to the southwestern native Americans in USA. They cling to their indigenous culture. They are hospitable. Hard working, and the men are the best endurance runners known. The Tarahumara women wear the traditional brightly colored clothes they are famous for. These women make and sell handmade items, including hand woven baskets.

baskets vintage native american sewing basket small handmade
I am selling all 4 baskets together one price. I have tried to show the flaws in the sewing basket. The inside lining is faded but in good condition. The basket weave is very dusty but i will not try to clean. The buttocks basket is 24 inches round. I am calling this basket native american due to the shape. The twig handle and the grass woven into the weave. The long narrow basket might have been a cracker basket. It has a wooden bottom that had something glued to it at one time but is now gone. There is one broken stick in the weave at one end but other then that it is in very good condition. The small basket is a really cute handmade basket.
Vintage 70's Era Native American Hand Woven Cornhusk Baskets
Up for bid are two exceptionally made cornhusk baskets created by hand by a Native American artisan in Indiana in the 1970's. The baskets were woven by a woman named Esta Fehrenbach who was the only Native American artisan featured at a national Folklife Festval in Washington DC in 1976. The baskets are in great condition and are both round with a cornhusk woven handle. One basket measures approximately 6" in diameter by 8" high. And the second basket is approximately 8" in diameter by 9" high. Along with the beautiful handmade baskets, I have a newspaper article highlighting the artisan and the history of these Native American baskets that date back to the early colonial days. These baskets are replicas of ones made and used by Native Americans and early American colonists. The newspaper article is dated October 22, ... more1979 and is yellowed and torn. The baskets are in great condition and are very well made! From a smoke free home! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Posted with

Antique NATIVE AMERICAN COILED BASKETS 2 UNKNOWN TRIBE 1900 HORSES nice
These are early and nice. I'm sorry I do not know from which tribe these are from. The condition is good. The color of the horses is better in the smaller basket as I think the smaller basket was inside the big basket for a long time. On the big basket there is wear on the top in 3 or 4 places and the small basket there are 2 tiny places. Both sturdy. Color is red and green. Big basket measures about 51/2" x 8" at the top and the small about 41/2" tall and 6" at top. NOTE: the photos were taken in different rooms but the truer color is in photo#2.
2 NICE VINTAGE WOVEN NATIVE AMERICAN PAPAGO PIMA INDIAN BASKETS
Hand made set of two baskets. The lidded basket has a tag that was attached that has a weavers name of Tresa McGee-Santa Rosa written on it. The lidded basket's handle is broken but can be repaired easily. The other basket had a tag attached that says it was made by the Pima Indians. Both of these baskets were inherited from a great aunt who traveled the southwest during the 50's and 60's. Both as in great shape considering age. Please look closely at the photos.

Makah Northwest Native Basket and Possibly Yokuts Group of 5 Baskets
Offering here a group of baskets that came in last week. There are 5 in the group. I first thought that the one with the standing men pattern was Yokuts from California but I am not sure. I also recognized a Makah or Nootka tribal lidded basket that has duck and bird motifs on it. It is small at 3" across and@ 1 3/4" high. The basket with the men motif is about 8" across. The others in the group may not be Native I do not recognize and so cannot identify them. You may recognize them and feel free to write me if you have an opinion. The family collected many things and lived on the East Coast as well as in California. I am putting an opening bid of $100 on the whole group which I think is a fair price for the Northwest coast tribal basket alone. So take a look and if you collect baskets consider this group. Over the centuries these baskets have evolved artistically as well, and many people now consider them to be among the world's most beautiful, sophisticated, and cherished art objects.
