Here is a powerful occult tool of Tibetan Lamas that dates back to time immortal. It has many occult uses by Tibetan Shaman's to protect and defend oneself against negative forces. This Phurba has the traditional Three headed Deity at the top with three more Namaste Deities above the head. In the middle is the Vajra Dorje of Padmasambhava. On the end is the three sided blade representing the three poisens emerging from the head of the litinal crocodile. It measures 12" long. Material is wood. A Phurba or Phurwa. Sometimes called a"magic dagger" is a tantric ritual object used to conquer evil spirits and to destroy obstacles. It is utilized in magic rituals by high level tantric practitioners. The word Phurwa is used primarily in Central Tibet, while the word phurba is used more often in Kham, Amdo and Ladakh. This is drum is used by the Tamang Tribe Shamans who live in the Himalayan mountains between Kathmandu. Nepal and the Tibetan border. It is a rustic version of what they use in the Tibetan temples, but it’s use is much more occult. This drum is used by the Shamans to induce trance and call the local deity into your body. As a channel for the village deity the Shaman can answer questions and perform healings. There’s a great article in the fall issue of“Shamans Drum” magazine about the Tamang people and the rituals around this drum. It’s an authentic piece coming directly from the tribe. The pommel has 3 different representations of the deity Vajrakilaya, intricately carved to each side as a symbol of protection, surmounted by a snow lion at the terminal. please see pics. 17th Century Tibetan Nepal Hindu God Riding Dragon Wood Book Cover. All original. This measures 7 x 23 1/2" and is approx. 1" thick. This has very nice patina. A detailed Hindu God sitting on a dragon. The wood is dense and heavy and blackened in areas from age. It would have been rectangular and have the same border that shows on the bottom and sides at the top. Was probably about 9-1/2 to 10" high originally. There is faded colors on the wood. Where this at some time must have looked amazing. The patina is on all edges so the break must have happened long ago. A rare original piece. This is a large hand carved old wood Tibetan ritual mask. Acquired at an estate auction. It was later appraised by an independent source to be an original, no older than 100 years. My main concern leading to the appraisal was that the black paint seems to be flaking off in several spots but I was told not to opt for restoration since these items were"crafted to be used in religious festivals and were not meant to last" The mask has two hooks in the back to be hung. It is in fairly good condition and shows very minor damage other than the paint abrasion. There is no breakage and no missing pieces. Antique 4.25" Tibetan/Tibet Burl Wood Jah-Phor Tea Bowl w Silver Lining Up for sale is a wonderful. Rare antique Tibetan Jah-Phor or tea bowl made of burl wood and with a silver lining. It's 4.25" in diameter and 2" tall. The bottom is 2.5" in diameter. The side of the wood has a natural burl wood imperfection as seen in photo#3 which was intentional and not a flaw. The silver lining has little dings from age and wear. I purchased this at an estate auction. I've done nothing to treat the wood so there are some lighter places of color as in the 2nd photo that would be restored with some polish-but I wanted to leave the care of the piece to the buyer. I'm not certain of the exact age of the piece but I believe it to be 19th century. These bowls were too costly and not accessible to the ordinary Tibetan citizen ... moreand were used by the wealthy and connected. It has the patina of having been used for its intended purpose and is a terrific piece. BUDDHA:Antique Tibetan Temple Sized. Gilded.Polychromed Wood.1800's, 21.5" Tall This is a venerable and impressive image of the Lord Buddha carved from wood. Gilded and polychromed, most likely in Tibet sometime in the 1800's. He may be earlier, but I always think it best to be a little conservative in dating. The previous owner thought he came from China but I believe a Tibetan origin is more probable. This is large and substantial figure measuring 21 1/2 inches tall. 17 inches wide at the bottom of the simple plinth upon which the Buddha sits and 14 inches from to back front of the later. He retains much of his original gilding and colors of his original paint, although there are some small losses. Our Buddha sits in Padmasana. The full lotus or adamantine position, which is an asana or posture usually reserved for images of ... morethe Buddha after his enlightenment. He holds his left hand in an elegant variation of the Vitarka Mudra. The mudra. Or gesture. Of giving instruction. The mudra is also sometimes called"Closing the circle of the Law He holds his right hand in his lap in a combination of the Vitarka Mudra and the Varada Mudra. The mudra of compassion. Benevolence and boon granting. This is a powerful combination: Enlightenment and Compassion. He has the three rings at his neck which mark him as an individual of deep spiritual wisdom. And in the middle of his traditionally dark blue painted coiffure is another round shape. Which symbolizes the power and wisdom which emanates from him. I particularly admire the wonderful carving of his face. His expression is not only one of peace and calm. But also seems to me to bespeak a cheerful attitude. He is in very good condition with age appropriate wear. There is a loss to the inside hem of his right sleeve and another on the back of the plinth. On the whole. First a disclaimer: When bought at an auction some decades past. The items presented here were said to be an antique Tibetan tea service. No date was given but it was supposed by the seller to be late 19th century. We are not Tibetan either ethnically or by professional interest. The items have never been professionally authenticated, so we are selling the set as is. We make no claims as to anything other than what can be seen in the accompanying images. With that in mind. This is a beautiful little service. As you can see from the later images, the teapot is about six inches by three inches. The teacups are small as well. The teapot is hand worked burl wood. There are lathe marks on the bottom of the teacups, but not so on the teapot. We don't know what type of wood was used. The wooden bowl of the teapot is enhanced with a silver metal ... morecollar that looks to have been hand tooled. The bowl itself is covered with a metal that looks like it was a sheet of metal pounded into the shape of the wooden bowl. The collar is a silver metal that appears to be hand tooled. The images look to be aquatic. Turquoise and coral colored stones were worked into the metal to give the teapot a very simple. Pleasant overall design. The lid continues the collar design. It looks to be an intricately intertwined dragon. The lid and handle are both enhanced with the turquoise and coral stones. The foot of the teapot is a silver metal scallop design. Enlarge the last image of the bottom of the teapot and you will see a mark stamped into the metal. The foot is attached to the wood bowls foot with tiny tacks. The cups are the same basic make as the teapot with a silver metal insert on a hollowed out piece of wood. There are different characters worked into the bottom of the cups' bowl. The tea cups do not have a collar. They do have a silver metal foot to hold the wooden cup. The feet are attached to the bowl with tiny tacks. The set is in great shape. The metal tarnishes like silver and has been hand rubbed twice in the thirty years

B3159 Rare Antique Tibetan Prayer Books Hand Written n Wood Block Print
You are looking at antique Tibetan prayer books. They looks like to have 3 sets. 2 of them were hand written and one was wood block print. I don't know how many pages in total, but I can tell you, they are probably 4 to 6 pages more than the quantity showing on picture#1. I don't want to count for they are too fragile and I don't want them to expose to the air too long. I would guess these prayer books are from 18th or 19th century. I think the paper were made by the Tibetan. I don't know anything about Tibetan stuff, but I can tell the calligraphy is beautiful and those prayers are signed. The size of wood block print prayer is 8"L x 2-3/4"W and the hand written prayer book is 6-1/2"L x 2-7/8"W. Most of the prayers were writing on both sides. Among these loos pages prayer book, It has a little book of ... more6 or 7 pages binding together. All these prayer books are wrapping on a violet and yellow silk prayer wrapping cloth. The cloth is from 20th century. This is a rare find of Tibetan artifact and preserved very well.

This is a very rare and sacred item that came from a Buddhist monastery in Tibet. These urns were carved from wood and decorated with a variety of copper ornaments. Fitted with turquoise and coral cabs, depicting different spirits and figures.The urn that I have listed would have been used to store spice offerings intended for use as an offering to a deity. Late 1800's This is a venerable and charming statue of the Lord Buddha carved from one piece of wood and painted in Tibet sometime in the late 1800's. He may be earlier. But I do not think he is later. This Buddha stands 9 inches tall and holds his hands in Namaskara mudra, the gesture of greeting. Prayer or devotion. It is similar to the Indic Anjali mudr a or the Indian Namaste. The joining of the palms expresses the congruence of being and the totality of the One Mind and can be understood as an honoring of both the self and the other as the gesture acknowledges the divine in both the practitioner and the recipient. Our Buddha sits in padmasana. Or the full lotus position, which is usually reserved for images of him after his enlightenment. He has an urna. The red ... moredot, on his forehead, which symbolizes a kind of third eye with which he is able to see past this universe of suffering, samsara. Into the world of enlightenment. But the rest of the"story" here is the beautiful painted surface of this image with its many pentimenti and layers. His outer garment is a light blue and his inner garment. A rich burnt sienna. There are. Of course, many abrasions and a few lacunae and many pentimenti. But besides this, the surface is completely stable, with no flaking or chipping. The beauty of the painted surface is crowned by the ineffable peace and calm of the Buddha's face. With his raised eyebrows and downcast eyes. I find this a most affecting image. Or the full lotus position, which is the posture usually reserved for images of him after his enlightenment. Shakyamuni is a title given to Prince Siddhartha after his enlightenment. It means. More or less, The Holy One of the Shakya Clan. Our Buddha sits with his hands clasped together in what looks like a Praying gesture.
