ANTIQUE TIBET MONGOLIAN NEPALESE TANTRIC BUDDHIST BRONZE SHIVA GANESHA BHAIRAVA
This is an exceptionally powerful and well-cast bronze(brass) depicting Bhairava. A wrathful and tantric form of the Hindu God Shiva, mounted on Ganesha. The piece is from Nepal and was made in the second half of the 19th century. The original base has been replaced with a custom-fitted wooden one. The figure is inserted into two holes on the base and can be removed, should you wish to re-base the piece. Together they stand some 6" in height, while the statue itself is just under 4-1/2" A very powerful piece and a rare subject. Shipping and handling in the US is $18; overseas will vary. This is an original tibetan or northern nepalse Thangka. It was inhereted by me from an aunt who lived in India in the immediate post war period. She left India in 1968. This was given to her in the 1950s. I am unsure if it was new or second hand at that point. The paining is on fabric- perhaps cotton? and has at some point been mounted on some coloured paper. it measures 20 x 14 inches. The picture is hand painted and the colours are still very vibrant- i am guessing the medium is oil? I am really not sure on this. The subject is a familiar one in Tibetan Buddhism. The piece has a central spherical core from which two stylized lotus blossoms issue eight arcing bolts from the jaws of makara heads. It is a stunning piece of Tibetan history and the surviving iron Vajras are becoming more difficult to find in comparison with their later bronze and brass counterparts. Many of the iron Vajras were made with an alloy called"Thokcha" or"sky iron" As they were made from a brass and iron mixture that used iron from tektite meteorites. Iron Vajras(Sanskrit) and Dorjes(Tibetan) were considered more potent by devotees. The Vajra is a symbolic ritual object of Buddhism that is thought to be a representation of a powerful lightning-like weapon belonging to Indra. The god of heaven. This comes from the estate of a TIBETAN gentleman who passed away at the age of 94 and fled his country in the 1950s when the CHINESE OCCUPATION began. For Sale a Tibetan or Nepalese Thangka of a White Tara-Like Bodhisattva. The thankga is mounted and measures 19 3/4 Inches Wide X 29 1/2 Inches Long. While the canvass only measures 16 X 22. In the Metric Systeme the Thangka measures 50.2 CM Wide X 74.9 CM Long, or 40.6 X 55.9 Canvass only. The Condition of the thangka is'Good' Using a grading scale of Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, Fine, and Excellent. The thangka is complete with no rips, stains, holes, nor restoration. The thangka does have numerous vertical creases where there is corresponding paint loss. There is a white stain on the bottom part of the blue border. The back canvass shows some white spotting. The quality of this thangka is Fair to Good- This thangka is provincial in flavor and does not have many details. Huge Mandala Thangka for sale from Tibet or Nepal. It looks Nepalese to me but I am not 100% sure. The painting appears to be 19th century but being more specific is difficult for me to say without consulting with a scholar. This Thangka shows a wrathful deity in the center mandala and is surrounded by four other mandalas in each corner. It is really Huge. And with the mount it measures 45 1/2 Inches wide X 75 Inches Long, without the mount is measure 37 Inches Wide X 55 Inches long. In the Metric System it measure with mount 115.5 Centimeters Wide X 190.5 Centimeters Long. One of the photos shows a person standing next to it to show the scale of the work. The Condition of the thangka is very good- using a grading scale of Poor. Fair, Good, Very Good, Fine, and Excellent. There is one stain but it is located all the way on the edge and isn't noticeable from the front. The painting has no rips, tears, or restoration work of any kind. There is an even wear and tear that corresponds more to a fine painting, however, the gentle darkening of the thangka places the condition more towards very good. This'wear' is not evident while beholding the painting. It is only noticeable when holding the thangka up to the light and looking through the canvass The quality of the thangka is fair to good- the brushwork of this thangka has a provincial flavor and does not have fine details anywhere. However. This is not surprising for a thangka of this size. The thangka was meant to be looked at from far away while hanging from rafters and so fine details would have been hard to pick out in the darkness of a monastery. Antique Nepalese leather belt w/ brass + turquoise chesnee ornaments 33.5" long
Antique Nepalese leather belt sewn with large brass Chesnee coat cover and closers and turquoise stones- 33 1/2" long A magnificent antique Nepalese. Tibetan or Bhutan leather belt 33 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide sewn with 100 year old Chesnee coat cover and closers. Both ends of belt have 3 thongs 6- 8 inches long with clam shell beads attached. The belt is laced along both long sides with leather. It is created in three portions, the center has a piece of fabric under the silver adornments. On this center panel are 5 antique coat closers measuring 2 1/4 inches in diameter, each ornate piece has a center insert of turquoise, coral or carnelian. These are mounted on leather then onto the fabric. Separating these ornaments are 4 turquoise beads. The two side panels each have two smaller 1 1/2 inch in diameter clasps with minute ... moreturquoise centers and five 1/4 inch cabochon turquoise. Connecting the center and the side panels are on one side another turquoise cabochon and two shell beads and on the other an oblong coat closer with a small turquoise center. In addition there are 7 short 1 1/2 inch thongs hanging from the belt with shell or turquoise beads. This certainly is a most sumptuous belt from the Himalayan area. It is in perfect condition.

A very elegant small 18th century offering stand of fine Nepalese bronze. The base decorated with an unusual'lotus' pattern. Lovely natural patina. a stand like this would be used on which to place anything to be offered to an alter or the deities, gods, or Buddha images of a temple, monastery, or household shrine. Almost certainly made in the ancient artisan city of Patan. This is a really elegant and fine example of an alter piece from this period. These were(and still are) used to offer coloured powder, flowers, or grains of rice to the statues or images of deities and Buddhas on their alters or shrines. This drum was used by the Tamang Tribe Shamans who live in the Himalayan mountains between Kathmandu. Nepal and the Tibetan border. The double sided membrane drum Dhyangro is the peculiar, indispensable and one of the most important paraphernalia of the western Nepal shamans. The Nepalese shaman is the bridge, the link and mediator between the real and invisible world. Small metal objects and seeds are hooked inside the drum. The drumstick is named Gajo. The handle of the drum has the same iconography of another'weapon' of the Nepalese shamans, the ritual and talismanic dagger named in Tibetan phurba and in Sanskrit Kila, used to restrain evil entity and harmful ... moreoccult influences. This sword would have been used more as a fighting sword as the sacrificial swords tend to be much wider and heavier. The blade has a thick back side and is sharp on the convex side much like a kukri. Typical disk pommel and guard. Ring attached to pommel(have never one like this see before) Carved decoration on both sides of blade inlaid with red lacquer. 18th to 19th century. ANTIQUE BUDDHIST TANTRIC MONGOLIAN NEPALESE BUDDHIST SCULPTURE
This is a very large Tantric wooden sculpture dating. Most probably, to circa 1920. The piece measures some 11-3/4" in height and bears the red wax seal indicating that at some time in its history it was exported from Nepal, although I am not sure whether the piece was actually made there or in Tibet. Some minor losses, as noted in the photos. The polychrome decoration is original to the piece, which was, apparently, in storage for quite some time. For Auction is an Antique circular box.Tibetan or Nepalese or somewhere further East Most Tibetan Amulet boxes seem flat and rectangular. The cover is Parcel Gilt cast and pierced with mythical birds and moths rising from waves. This is I think applied to the lid. The cover has a turqoise inlaid top. There is a Greek Key pattern around the edges and 2 eyes to suspend it. Also partly gilded. The base shows spots of brassing. Inside has a dull Alloy finish. With the Hindu Symbol on the base. 8.2cms across 3.25ins. Wt 170 grams 4 cms wide to the domed turqoise top. No splits or repairs The box has a Stunning look. Original and Antique.

They are filled with an oil and wick and lighted as votive offerings on temple altars. They are called Dipa and lighting them symbolizes the dispelling of ignorance and illumination of the mind and knowledge. They have a wonderful patina from use polish. Tibetan Nepalese Mongolian or Chinese Buddha Bronze Antique
Height: approximately 4.90 inches An antique bronze Buddha. Finely cast, holding a conch shell in one hand and a mongoose in the other. There seems to be some remnants of red enamel and the interior smells slightly of incense. Not sure of age but appears to have at least 100 years of age. Please see photos for details.
