This an original antique map of India with an inset of Singapore engraved by Sidney Hall and published by Adam& Charles Black in Edinburgh in 1851. The map shows excellent detail. The map measures 60 cm x 44 cm. 24 inches x 17 inches) The map is in good condition. The map was printed at a time just before colour printing had yet to be perfected so the original colouring is done by hand. The pink represents British possessions, yellow are under British influence and green are independent.

It has attractive colour lining There are 2 water stains in the both upper corners seen in photo 2 and a repair in the lower part of the map seen in photo 3. They do not affect the beauty of the map. There is also some over printing along the heading. The back shows DELL'ASIA. Tavola Decima Antica. And writings in Latin probably the part of the atlas I' m not a dealer. I had bought this map for my collection on ebay a few years ago and have enjoyed having it. I recently got a similar map as a present and so decided to sell this.

This auction is for an original map of Hindoostan and Farther India from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World. By Prof. A.Guyot. This map is in very nice condition given its age. It is in its original unrestored condition. The colors(all hand colored) are still very vibrant and all of the map is still very readable. The seam is very much intact and is in very good shape. I have tried to highlight all these main issues in the pictures. The map has call out boxes for the Ganges and the island of Singapore. These maps were given to me from an estate to sell. I say this for transparency. As I will not be of much help in grading the shape of the maps. However, I will answer any question as quickly as I can. I do have the entire book(covers are in very poor condition) but it has already been split up. I will be posting a few ... moresections at a time but they are in a pretty random order as I don't really know much about which may be more desirable.
