Antique / Vintage Wall Mount Cherry Wooden Map Case
This is a Large Antique/ Vintage Wall Mounted Wooden Map Case. The wood has the warm glow and color that characterizes cherry and we believe the case is predominently made from cherry. But we are not experts on woods and we do not know for certain. There is possible use of secondary woods, and a small repair at each end of the front panel that appears to have been made with small pieces of walnut. The case appears to be quite old but we do not have a specific age attribution as to whether it is antique or just vintage. The only provenance we have is that the person we bought it from purchased it in Minnesota. The map case is a truly beautiful old piece for use simply as part of your decor. Or it could additionally be repurposed for a variety of uses. It be a wonderful display piece for an antique themed restaurant, hotel or lodge lobby, cabin, ... moreor log home. The case is 59" long. Nearly six feet, and the main gallery photo illustrates the large size of the case displayed on one of our fireplace mantels. The overall maximum dimensions including the lid are about 59" x 8 1/4" x 5 1/8" The latter dimension is where the lid extends out; the corresponding dimension of the case is about 4 3/4" Please see the Condition section below for information regarding the hardware and construction. The original instruction label is still in place. It is very darkened and discolored. My assumption is that this is due to many years of contact with the oils in the wood. I was not able to find any maker's mark or other identification. As you can see from a pair of photos. Each map apparently had a rod through it. One end was seated in a hole at one end, and the other was fitted along a channel at the other end to hold it securely in place as detailed in the instructions. IT IS A SCARCE AND RARE MAP AND THE BEST I COULD FIND WAS THAT THIS MAP SOLD PROVATELY FOR NEARLY $5000 IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. BEING SO EARLY AND SO BIG. I CAN SEE WHY VERY FEW OF THESE SURVIVED ANYWHERE. THERE WERE PROBABLY NOT THAT MANY PRINTED. Antique Canvas Map Ancient Greece New Testament School Wall Historical Pull down
Here is an old(antique) Large. Pull down map of ancient Greece(looks like the Pauline age) It does have some discoloration at the bottom- in some of the pictures you'll notice some lines and shading that aren't on the map they are just shadows behind it(sorry bad pictures) the map is in otherwise good shape. There is no date on the map itself but the latest patent date on the pole is 1901 so I'm assuming the map dates around that era. I'm not sure if the coil mechanism works- I have done my best to describe this item and as such it is sold as is.

You just found a very rare 1920 census map of Pennsylvania. It was manufactured by George F Cram Company out of Chicago. This is a true find very rare. It was folded and stored out of the light for over 50 years. The backing is canvas and it was previously hung from the brass holes at the top. Since it was folded. It has fold marks but this can easily be framed and displayed in your home or office. It's a lovely map with beautiful color with no missing pieces. This is the perfect map for that rare map collector. It measures 40-1/2" x 49-1/2" Nice and big to mount on that empty wall! Shipping includes insurance.

One of the most interesting and attractive 19th century wall maps of North America.This majestic work was done in 1854 by Jacob Monk. As the new country was beginning to expand fully to the Pacific following the land gains after the Mexican War. The gold region in California is remarkably inaccurate with Auburn shown well north of Sacramento City and lying between it and the Marysville& Yuba City area. The Great Basin area is also inaccurate and roughly follows the Fremont model. Filled with wagon routes. Explorer's trails, forts, Indian tribes, and so much more. The middle portion of the U.S. is unorganized with only Indian nations named and colored. Much of this area is organized into the Proposed Territory of Nebraska. Minnesota includes Dakota. Which is not named. Out west, only California and the territories of Oregon. New Mexico ... moreand Utah exist. Includes a table of distances and a table of counties and towns with more than 1.200 names. Has a large inset of the World on Mercator's projection. Embellished with an elaborately decorated border and with numerous engraved sailing and steam/sail ships shown in the oceans. Complete with both original wooden rollers and linen backing. Published by Hoen& Company. Hand-colored. Varnished. Wooden rollers attached. 152.4 cm H x157.5 cm W. 60" High x 62" Wide) including decorative border, plus margins.
