This is a vintage sofa frame from the 1960's. It was re-appolstered twice(so on it's third facelift) It is usable as is or can get another facelift. The sofa is sturdy and strong and very durable. It was in the living then moved to the family room where it saw a lot of use. To such. The arm rest covers are a bit worn, but the arms of the sofa look fine. It's a 3 cushion sofa. VINTAGE 1974 ORIGINAL THOMASVILLE FRENCH PROVINCIAL DESK SOFA TABLE & CHAIR
We are pleased to offer this FABULOUS. EXCEPTIONAL, vintage writing desk or sofa table and matched chair. This is a French Provincial style set manufactured by Thomasville and dated 1974. Both the desk and chair are made of solid oak(no veneer) and have their original, antiqued(golden) whitewashed finish. The desk features beautiful curves and cabriole legs. There are carved/incised details on the legs and a hooved foot detail. The drawer fronts and scalloped apron have raised trim that accentuate the curved lines of the desk. The incised areas have a subtle golden finish while the raised areas have a more natural finish. There are 3 functioning drawers on the desk front and these are adorned with the original, ornate hardware. The desk top is very nice with a tone-on-tone parquetry inlay. The back of the desk is finished in the same manor ... moreas the front and sides. It has a scalloped apron with raised trim. The arm chair is quite lovely and features spindle. Turned wood, accents on the chair back and under the arm rests. The chair has a beautiful, slightly pearlescent, white vinyl(could be leather, but I don't think so) It has a curved top with a shell accent in the center of the back top. It features cabriole legs as well. This is a gorgeous pair. Both are very high end pieces. They are heavy and very sturdy. There is some minor evidence of age to the finish in a couple of areas. It is not severe or distracting and does add to the aged character of the set. The arm chair has more wear to one arm with some loss of the finish and a small. Surface split in the wood(picture# 10) It is not terribly distracting and could be resolved. It does not affect the structural integrity of the chair at all. The vinyl is very good with no splits, cracks or peeling. It is still soft and has not hardened with age. The padding is also good with no sagging. The desk is substantial. The chair is in great shape. The couch has a small rip on the bottom of the black see through material on the bottom. One of the four metal bars has come loose on the bottom of the couch but is still there in the see through black material. Steelcase Chrome base sofa - Probber Vintage Mid Century Modern baughman
Sofa by Steelcase- Circa 1970's- off-white color wool 80" x 32" depth. 28.5" high. Seats 17" Arm rests 22.25" Original latex foam One of three for sale. Almost identical to a Knoll design with it's own touch. Notice the sharp angle of the inner back rest supporting the cushions for a proper comfortable seat. Knoll designers int he 60's and 70's went to work for steelcase and often produced very similar examples. Quality construction and properly performed upholstery at the Steelcase facilities with chrome bar bases that go around the entire sofa. Upholstery covers the whole sofa(except under cushions on sofa) including the back. No tears etc. just some piling on the back. Original metal feet on each leg. Up for auction is a vintage solid wood frames sofa that has been recovered in a tropical indoor outdoor fabric. Still tons of life left in this couch it is sturdy and has been well cared for. The measurements for the sofa are as follows: 86" long 37" wide from the back to front 27" Tall measured from floor to too of back The cushions are loose both on the bottom and the back which is nice. The foam is firm and comfortable. So much so that sometimes we would remove the back cushions to make the seating part wider for sleeping on. Our home is smoke and pet free as well. All of the pieces are sturdy and except for some minor scuffing and small sections of wicker wrapping missing are in great shape. The cushions are as I said original to the pieces and the material is in great condition for something that is over 50 years old. All of the cushions except for three are in great shape without any rips. Two have some minor pulling of the material and a small hole in the other. All of the cushions have zippers in them and do have an offensive smell. They are very soft and probably need to have the cushions inside replaced. The pieces have all of the springs attached(one of the cushions has tape on it. The lady said that was to keep the rough edge of it from ripping the material. This was at one time a beautiful sofa. Manufactured in 1969 in Maryville TN. I am selling this as is. And local pick up only. The cushions are still in good shape only one has a worn spot on the corner. The wood legs are solid and still covered with paper. There is one rust spot on the skirt at the bottom right side. The only problem with this sofa and it is a big one, is the yellow, stinky, smoke staining, and one of the cushions is stained pretty bad. The cushion cover can be removed for washing. I did not attempt to wash anything. I will meet the lucky buyer at a neutral spot if need be. I will contact you first through Ebay and then we can go from there. Couch Sofa And Chair French Provincial Set Vintage Tufted

I am not a furniture dealer so I will describe this set to the best of my knowledge and am glad to answer any other questions you may have. This set was in my grandmothers house since I was very young. I am now 49. That is all I know about the age. We were never allowed to even sit on it back then. So the 3 years at my home, in a room we rarely use are all the wear there is. Minor surface scratches on the wood, and light wear on the fabric. When I got the set, the foam in the cushions was dry rooted. I had the covers dry cleaned and the foam replaced by a professional. The couch spring area in the center, seemed to droop, so it was repaired. Still has all original springs, ... moreetc. everything was held in by nails and some had started to back out. So repair consisted of putting everything back in place. The staples putting the fabric cover back over the bottom are partially new. None of this can be seen unless you look underneath. Very cool piece in very good original condition.This is a quality piece of furniture in clean original condition. Email for more pics or info.I can't find any info about the maker.I don't know if it was part of a sectional or if there was a table between the two pieces but this is how it was when i removed it from the office of a 100 year old company. I prefer not to ship this so it is local pickup but I am open to working something out.
