It seems to be all steel apart from the desktop itself, which is tan formica or something similar. So let's give you some measurements. First. From the floor to the desktop is about 30" Second, it is about 60" wide and 30" deep, and the knee space between the two banks of drawers is about 25" It has two pullout keyboard shelves, one on each side, three undivded drawers on the left, a shallow center drawe with four small compartments at the front, and two divided drawers on the right. The top one is fitted with a metal business form organizer, and the deeper one below has a single vertical divider that can be adjusted by sliding it forward or back. As the pictures show. It has some overal surface scuffing and scratching, with rust just beginning to show through, indicating it might be time to strip it and upcycle it into something a but brighter or more colorful. Or leave it just the way it is is if you're oging for the used and worn look. We are also including the chair we found it with. Although it is more like a dining chair than a desk chair. Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. This wonderful desk thermometer has a cylinder-shaped glass window. Topped with a brass plate and a brass plate underneath. The brass pieces are held together with three brass pins. The strip of paper that has the temperatures printed on it, has come loose at one end but, the arm is still attached and the temperature gauge does work. The loose end of paper has printed on it, Made in the U.S.A. Renil, Brooklyn, N.Y. There is a conical wood post that sits atop a slightly bowled plate that has six dimples placed around it. The base is also, wood and the outside edge has printed on it, The Canton Supply Co. The bottom has a piece of green felt, that has a black mark on it. There are spots and tarnish on all of the metal pieces and wear to the finish on the side of the wooden base, to the right of the print. Can be stood straight up and down too for using as a display for drawings or artwork. I think it makes an amazing table when its set up flat! It locks down properly, its sturdy, solid, quality built. Vintage All Steel Equipment Industrial Metal Office Swivel Desk Arm Chair, NICE!
For auction is one vintage. 1960s-era All Steel Equipment metal swivel chair in fantastic original condition. It is painted a silvery gray color and is upholstered in green vinyl. The upholstery is in perfect condition; not a stitch out of place and free rips, nicks or stains. There is one faint scratch on the back of the back pad, which you can see in the photos. The beautiful, curved base features black plastic protector plates on the ends, and the armrests are made of the same black plastic. The metal parts are free of dings and dents, and the paint is in excellent condition overall, though there are small scuffs and scratches common to use. Much less than one would expect on a chair this age, however. The majority of the scratches are confined to the area where the armrests attach to the backrest(see photos) All mechanical features function ... moreproperly. I believe this is Oak wood but could also be walnut. Very heavy sturdy solid wood. I purchased this from and Estat e sale for $150 several years ago. This is a very very unique piece This desk folds down into a table and back up into a desk with a drawer and pull out writing area.This desk must have been upper class during the era due to the detail in wood work and hinges. Wooden legs have a nice spindle look. Base writing area pulls ou t for more writing and ha s finger grooves to pull out base. There is a center drawer built in and there are two cubby areas to each side of the drawer. There i s a crack on the back leg of the piece but ... moreis not noticeable when placed against a wall. It can be easily repaired with wood filler. I can repair with filler for an a dditional $10 if you require. There is a numbered mark under the desk#3551. Which may be a m anufactu re number. The number look like military style. So I am assuming this could be a milit ary desk for a high ranked officer possibly. I purchased this from a wealthy estate owner. I dont have much more history to offer on this. But is a very unique item. I dont see any other pieces like this offered on ebay. To ship this item I can remove the legs f rom the base as they are removeable. The desk weighs approximately 60lbs.
