100 yr. Old Painted Desk We have several old antique items to sell at my folks old house that I thought would best be liquidated here on Ebay. This oak secretary or writing chest is absolutely wonderful and is so much more attractive in person than the pictures. Every authentic antique painted piece of furniture of this nature is original unique and of its own beauty and this one is no exception. Green color is rich and deeper green in person than with camera flash. The green is likely an old oil based enamel or lead paint. The top surface is glared in a couple pictures appearing a different color but it is the same green color as the rest of the cabinet. The paint is not flaking or pealing but is still very strong adhering all over. Loads of character and charm. The whole piece is solid as a brick and not rickety or wobbly. I don't see ... moreany repairs or cracks etc. Typical wear that would be indigenous to this period and stature. I took a close up of damage on interior of the door around the drop hinge arm. Drawers function well and door closes nicely. I particularly like the shaker style going narrower to the floor as seen in the side profile. The detail in curvature of the drawer fronts is unique as well. There has been no back on the cabinet for many years. I have seen hundreds of secretaries in my days but have never seen this particular style before. This little cabinet is simply divine and could be used in so many rooms of a home to suite your taste. Here is one original Victorian Trade Card. This is from Allentown Pennsylvania and for the Dorney Furniture Company on Hamilton Street. This trade card is embossed and die-cut for added appeal. The colors are still sharp and as true as the day they were made due to the optimum storage conditions. The card has a bend mark on the right hand side which is visible from an angle. While the card was obviously at one time bent. It has been stored flat for most of it's 100-year existence. Pictures are of the actual item you will receive. Right down to the Curtain Rods and a Box of Chocolate.The bed even has a soft mattress and I love the Pink Shag,Solid wood casing with plexi-glass top and front.The right molding on the box is missing but the Glass stays in place and slides off for viewing.All pieces have been glued to the carpet on the bottom of the feet of furniture but could be removed if desired.Wood on all sides except top and front. 11' tall 14 1/2' wide 11' deep The furniture is not miniature ... more~ Standard size.
