The chair is in very good condition, with only some light surface scratches on it, that are typical of such an old piece. It has wonderful inlays along the top rail of the back. The chair is a smaller size, measuring 35" tall at the center of the back, 35.75" tall at the top of the side rails, 13" wide at the back of the seat, 15" wide at the front of the seat, 14.5" deep, and 17" high at the seat. It is just a lovely little side chair, in great shape, and would be a wonderful addition to any antique collection.

These one-armed parlor chairs were designed specifically for ladies of the time, with lower seats and only one arm, so that it was easier for them sit, and to remove their shoes, without having to bend over too far, and was very useful for them considering the gowns, petticoats, and corsets of the time. The woodwork and carving on this chair is in great condition, particularly considering its age. I am unsure of its exact age, but these types of chairs were made primarily between the mid to late 19th Century. The chair has a sleigh back curve at the top, and gorgeous carved details in the wood.

It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

The back has two slats and the brass tacks at the top of the chair shows that it originally had the carpet attached at the top back. Solid OAK Victorian Eastlake Side Chair Hand Carved,Tiger,1870-1900 upholstered
I found this chair at a local Market. Made of OAK and in some areas"tiger" oak on the back. This is a very solid Chair. It looks to me to have some of the features of both the Edwardian and Eastlake Victorian styles. It has been stripped of the original DARK finish to reveal the beautiful Golden Oak. the upholstery is most likely not original but it is solid and matches without being gaudy the Hand carved Flowers in the head area are wonderful as well as the half circle carvings across the top. the sides facing the front are carved with what looks like scales or stylized leaves or a vine. I am assuming it originally had coasters or wheels but they have been replaced with metal buttons. I am listing this wonderful chair as local pickup only. Antique Victorian Civil War era chair - VERY NICE Collectable
This is a beautiful oversized solid black walnut Victorian parlor or lady’s chair with wonderful hand-carvings. It’s oversized all around. With an extra-large seat and an extra-tall back. It has flared back legs, cabriole front legs and a serpentine solid black walnut skirt, and it has so much detail. The fabric was replaced a long time ago, since the chair dates from the 1860s-70s, and although it’s in good condition and very useable, it could use a nice shampooing to remove some minor staining that is only apparent from certain angles. It’s also easy to replace. The chair itself is in its original dark walnut patina, which is wonderful. This is an old vintage Victorian settee and matching chair. The upholstered fabric is in good condition with no rips. Tears or fading. Some of the pictures make the fabric look yellow-this is just shadows(I guess) from the camera. The fabric is a floral with cream background. There is carving on the oak wood between the two back upholstered sections(see picture) The chair and the settee backs both measure approximately 37 inches high from the floor. VICTORIAN GOTHIC REVIVAL ANTIQUE LADIES CHAIR HAND CARVED GORGEOUS! Hand made nails used Golden colored with floral needlepoint Thick padded back& seat Oriental/gothic influenced hand carved wood Front casters are original This is a very unique style and I haven't been able to find anything like it. All of the nails(including the very large one with the square nut pictured in photo#9) have all handmade heads. Has a black finish which appears to be the original finish. Has these unique finger hooks on the top in the back(see photo#4) Your fingers fit perfectly under them so that you can lift the back and roll it on the front casters. This piece is in really good shape for its age. The wood has finish rubbed off in spots throughout and the chair may need some slight tightening. But tight for the most part and certainly sturdy enough ... moreto use. In photo#3, you can see a small, round, clear spot on the seat. Please see the photos for more details as the photos act as part of the description as well. In photo#9, there is a large bolt head showing in the back of the chair by the seat and the end& nut show on the bottom.it's not like that on the other side. It appears to be hand planed and DEFINITELY hand carved. The black fabric on the bottom is newer and without removing it. I'm not sure what's underneath, but in pulling the sides back a bit, all of the nails are hand made& old. Other than the staples holding on that back fabric, all of the hardware is 19th century. I believe that it had been reupholstered at some point due to original nail holes around the current edges of the fabric. It sounds like it is filled with some straw and under the black bottom fabric, there is what looks like a potato sack type of material. So, I'm thinking that if it were reupholstered, it was done a long time ago. There are nicks and paint missing throughout from use. The overall presence of this piece in the room is just awesome. I can certainly imagine see this in a fine ladies parlor. The casters are brass

This great chair features a Victorian carved rose and scroll crest over a crotch mahogany crest rail. From the back of chair to the bottom floor it stands around 34 1/2 inches tall then from the front part ware you sit down on to bottom around 15 1/2 inches tall. Then ware you sit down front to back around 14 1/2 and left to right its almost 18 inches wide. The back part of chair from top to bottom its around 22 inches tall and left to right its 16 1/2. The needlepoint it self on the bottom part ware you sit from left to right its around 13 1/2 inches and front to back around 14 inches. Up for bid is a set of beautiful antique his and hers heavy dark wood Victorian/gothic chairs. The wood has been wonderfully carved into male and female figurines at the top of the chairs and ornate Victorian designs throughout the rest of the wood. The female chair has a soft cushion backing depicting a queen in needlepoint style and the male chair has a king. Both chairs have red velvet has the seat cushion. The male chair is 53.5" tall and 23" wide. The female chair is 51" tall and 22" wide. Up for sale is this Set of 4 Beautiful Hand Carved Tudor Style chairs. I believe they are oak or Mahogany. But I am not positive on this. This is based on my research of the items. As you can see they are very unique. All chairs are solid. They do have some nicks and scratches as shown in photo which is not surprising for their age. I have tried to show all flaws. Gorgeous Victorian weave work and beading highlight this green. Caned seat rocking chair. The chair and rockers are sturdy. The green paint is worn from age to expose the original wicker. There are 3 places where parts of the wicker are missing: The bottom of the back of the chair in the corners there is a loop that is missing a portion of the design(on the right) and it is completely missing on the left side. This is a beautiful antique hand carved oak platform rocker that has been totally restored. The wood was finished in a satin clear and it has brand new upholstery with all new padding. The fabric is blue cotton velvet with a rose floral pattern. It is a very comfortable chair, and very tight and solid. Most chairs from this period were small and narrow. Not this one. The seat is extra wide, and I padded up the seat to make it sit at normal height for the average modern person. All of the carving is perfect. There are no breaks, repairs, or damage anywhere.just the normal dings here and there and natural aging as with any antique furniture. The person(a high end antique dealer) who brought this to me. Bought this out of the home of an antique dealer in Southern Illinois several years ago. Unfortunately, I live in a very small(but wonderful) community where there aren't many people who are in to this sort of thing. It's a shame too because this is a wonderful antique piece of furniture. It is highly carved with a scene of turtles. Someone once told me that there is a story about these turtles, an ancient fable if you will, but I can't remember the name of it: As you will see in my photos.
