This was in the early years of the industrial age when curves and scallops were incorporated into even the machines of the day. Rusted over when found. Its been power wire brushed to reveal the dark patina of the iron while leaving a nice balance of rust red. The entire piece was then clear matte coated. The bottom of each end of the stretcher has a notch that fits onto a slot on the bottom of the leg. The top of each end fits into a slot at the top of each leg. Then the table top/ work surface is placed onto the legs, sliding a tab on the underside into a slot on the top of each leg. Slipping a lock pin through these last two tabs locks the entire assembly in place. The height from floor to the work surface is 25" The top measures 22" x 15" Each leg is 20" front to back. Up for auction are four(4) cast iron furniture legs from the 1800's. These legs are 24" tall and about 16 pounds each. They have factory holes in the top for bolting to a table top. They are in great condition with no breaks or cracks. These were originally the legs from a milling machine from back when objects were much more ornate. Now they can be turned into a beautiful and valuable piece of custom furniture. I prefer local pick up(in New Rochelle. Lot of 6 Antique Brass Claw Foot Wooden Table Legs with Rosettes
Here is a set of 6 antique solid wood table legs with rosettes on both sides of each and brass claw feet. They are all in fair condition with some dings. Scratches, and chips of wood missing from all of them, but they are all solid, sturdy, and perfectly useable or repurposeable. The finish on them is a medium reddish brown and is worn off in spots down to the bare wood. In the surfaces that were attached to a table, there are 5/8" diameter holes drilled where wooden pegs had been glued inside to reinforce the joint. On one leg, the two wooden pegs are snapped off inside and new holes will need to be drilled in order to re-insert new pegs. Some have chips missing around the holes and might require some wood filler. They look to have several layers of paint including a top layer of grime. I have a project in mind for these legs, but I often offer my building materials for sale before I start a project. This is a very fine example of an industrial era Hamilton Drafting table from the early 1900's. Manufactured in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. The unit is complete and undamaged, with no broken or missing cast iron pieces. The pine top measures approximately 5 feet across, 39 inches at the widest point and 1 inch thick. The top is solid and undamaged with some ink stains, tape adhesive and pin holes generated over years of use. The table adjustments are original, complete and work properly. The legs and frame are the original black paint, showing the years of patina and normal usage. The table measures 29" by 29" and is almost 26" tall. This table came from the estate of Elmer W. Valo. He was a major league baseball player from 1940 to 1961. He played mostly for the Phillies, also the Yankees, Indians, Dodgers, and the Twins. His name is written on the bottom of the table, maybe he took this table with him on the road.
