This rare tin is a retail advertising display tin for Glycerole. A shoe dressing manufactured by Restorff And Bettmann of NY. The unusual design follows the look of a steamer trunk. In 2010 a similar tin was on auction with an estimated value of $250 To $600. I don't know the final price paid. The inside of the top shows a great display ad for the shoe dressings. The brass lock is intact but the key is missing. A great and rare display tin. Size: 13"x 7" high x 9" deep. Antique Vintage NEVERBREAK Small Steamer Trunk Case L. Goldsmith & Son 1900's
Please see below for important shipping information prior to bidding! Up for sale is an Antique Vintage Neverbreak Trunk/Suitcase. This isn't as large as a standard steamer trunk. It's a smaller case. It measures 19 3/4" x 17 1/4" 9 1/2" and it weighs 13 pounds. It's marked on the plaque on top"Neverbreak Trunks Manufactured by L. Goldsmith& Son, Newark NJ" It's also marked on the lock. There is no key included but the clasps work well to open& close the trunk. The locking mechanism does not work. The interior appears to have a newer lining in it; I don't know exactly how old the trunk is but I believe it to be from the early 1900's. The outside shows wear consistent with age& usage. The leather strap/handle has some wear& cracking. The metal parts(like the clasps etc. display ... moretarnish. There are spots of wear throughout the trunk& sporadic areas of damage. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Tray, Lock & Keys
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and 2 keys and original tray. This is a very nice. Clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied polyurethane by Minwax. On this trunk are two new Amish black leather handles and two original latches to keep the lid secure. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. We also attached a new lock with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. What is also so special ... moreabout this hardware is that it still has the patent date of March 1880 noticeable on the hardware. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Remarkably with this trunk there is the original tray in very nice condition. The lid of the trunk also has the original secret compartment. Finding a lid like this is very rare especially the one this trunk has because it still has the original pictures that are neatly in tact. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied polyurethane to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. The bottom also has the original casters in working condition to ease with moving the trunk. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student. It could also be used as a blanket chest. A Ladycomet Primitive Early Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest
Charming Early Primitive Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk Here is a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from the mid to late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 16 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/2 inches. This one is a more primitive style trunk in which there is more wood showing and less fancy metal hardware. This one still has the Jenny Lind influence in which there are the small brass rosettes or buttons on the thin metal banding at the sides. The trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards on the top. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older nicks and dings on the wood in various places. This trunk comes with the original lock which has been remounted ... morewith screws. The lock does not work since the top engagement piece or latch that swings down into the lock is missing. The lock is AS IS since this part is missing. The side handles have some wear, but were in good enough condition to keep. They are brown leather stitched straps. This trunk might serve nicely as a coffee table since it does have a flat top. These trunks can also be used to store collectibles like Civil War items or coins within. A real common way to use a trunk like this is to store clothing and other personal belongings within it, especially in a bedroom at the foot of the bed. Going to the interior, the wood is totally rough cut boards. There was glue residue on these boards which held the paper lining in place. The glue residue was light colored, so we had to stain the interior wood dark to try to cover up the lighter glue areas. The interior is dark colored with some glue areas showing and has rough cut boards. A nice picture of a girl holding her pet cat has been added to the underside of the top. Very rare AUTHENTIC LOUIS VUITTON Steamer Trunk circa the 1800's. Label has a split down the middle and hinge on back is broken. One clasp on front is broken but still fits into holder. This trunk had a flower lining installed about 25 years ago when I acquired it to preserve the trunk and label. But it can be easily removed! The pictures reflect the condition but be assured this trunk is very rare and still is a beautiful piece of history! This item IS FOR PICK UP ONLY! Large Dome Top Steamer Trunk In Central Maryland
This trunk measures approximately 28 inches high; 34 inches wide; and 21 inches deep. I believe it is late 19th or early 20th Century. It is in need of major restoration. The outside is peeling badly. The wood under it seems to be in good condition. The outside strip on the highest point of the dome is cracked. The lid hinges move freely. One leather carry strip is broken. The other is still in tact. The lock is missing. The outside bottom is metal. Three of the four casters are in tact. The fourth is missing. The dome has one large'hat' compartment. The original removable'tray' in the main trunk has three compartments with lids. The compartment at the back of the tray extends the width of the trunk. Antique Victorian Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather ... morehandles on either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. Absolutely gorgeous& rare vintage travel trunk. Made by New England Trunk Co's"Maidrite" Boston, MA. This trunk came from a New England convent and was the most beautiful and well-appointed trunk of a group of about 15. There is a sticker with the Nun's name and the convent on the top. Besides great form& dimensions. It uses a design I've never seen before with rows of rivets down the middle of the top and front adding a very regal touch. Great original condition for it's age. Original or early wall paper is there and in great shape. Original bi-fold drawer is there and in excellent condition. The latches work well. There is no key. Leather handles are there, one is excellent, other is torn in the middle. No typical strong odors inside. This trunk was very well cared for throughout it's whole life. Here is an adorable miniature steamer trunk from the Bassett company. It opens and closes with two working side latches and one center latch. Measures 10" long by 6" wide by 6.5" tall. There is no key and the side leather handles are gone. Which is very common for these old trunks. Interior paper is intact but torn on the inside of the lid. There is wood underneath the paper. The exterior has rust as shown in the photos. This trunk is perfect for a restoration project. Or keep it in its original state. Would fit nicely on a shelf!
