It sort of has an Art Nouveau look to it. The settee is about 49" wide(seat itself is 42" and 37" tall. Both pieces have the Thonet paper label as well as the stenciled"Thonet Austria" The caning is hand woven not machine made. It would be very costly to have all this caning done today. Not sure if the caning is original but it is in excellent condition; the last picture shows a few very minor breaks in the chair seat. Also at some point somebody added some strengthening screws in the back of the chair(next to the last picture) The arm of the chair might have a repaired split where it joins the chair seat. I think this is absolutely beautiful. All the wood is original. It is a cherry veneer with the inlaid gold wood.The scrolling on it as you can see is very beautiful as well. I have never seen one like it. I bought it at an auction in the 70's. I had it reupholstered and that was all. It is 43 inches in length. It has wooden casters on the legs. Approx 18 inches from floor to seat. For something of this age over 100 years it is in remarkable good condition. It is comfortable to sit in. You would need to make your own arrangements for pick up. I live in the Kansas City vicinity in the Johnson County Kansas side.

The only thing they agree about is that these two pieces were made by the same hand(person) Whoever reupholstered these(looks like 60's-70's) man is that fabric ugly! I was told that reupholstering does not effect value as it's a very common practice and whoever did it was smart enough to leave the underside all original. The settee and chair are hand carved. Hand inlay with many different woods and with mother of pearl! They have hand carved ball and claw feet and very unique shapes. That more then makes up for ugly fabric. They have a folk art feel and are gorgeous! These photo's don't do the beautiful inlay ... moreor these pieces justice! They have original brass antique nails and"rose-head nails" hand crafted by blacksmiths; which can be identified by irregular. Rose shaped heads. Antique Eastlake parlor settee, matching parlor chair, beautiful red/walnut
Absolutely gorgeous circa 1890 Eastlake Victorian style parlor set including settee or loveseat whichever you prefer to call it and matching chair. Very ornate carving done in walnut with an amazing finish for the time period. These pieces may have been refurbished at some time I would almost think they had to have been or someone loved them very much because they are beautiful. Both pieces still have the swivels and wheels intact and rolling although not really that useful because of their small diameter but that was original design. The loveseat has 4 wheel all swivel and all roll and wheels are white in color(appear to be ceramic maybe not sure) but I believe they may be original. The chair has two wheels. Both swivel and roll and are slightly bigger in diameter than loveseat and are black in color, They appear to be pretty old wheels ... morebut if I were to guess I would say someone took them off another piece of old furniture. As mentioned in description when I had it outside it appeared to be a little faded looking just on the two back panels of the couch, if someone were really, really concerned about perfection these two panels luckily would be the easiest thing on the furniture to replace, they are just square flat pieces of material with no pleats or diamond tuck, just place old piece over new material and cut the same and put it back on. Sounds easy but I would get professionally done, the rest is to nice to chance myself. If you have any questions message me and I will do my best to get an answer. This petite love seat was purchased by my mother at an auction in England some time in the 50's or 60's. She had it redone with the burlap and then had it shipped to the USA intending to have it recovered. I believe she was once told that it could be French. This splendid 19th century settee features fabulous detailed carving of grapes& leaves on the triple serpentine crest-rail with highly carved arm supports and a triple serpentine seat-rail with a cluster of grapes at the center with brass casters intact on the feet. This settee measures 40 3/4 inches high from the floor to the top of the back center.With a total length of 66 1/2 inches, seat width of 47 inches and seat depth of 19 inches with a seat height to the floor of 17 inches and this settee weighs approximately 75 lbs. Beautiful day bed or settee. Original frame and finish. Excellent condition. one scratch on back, could be retouched but i did not want to try. see pic. Recovered in a beautiful soft tan and gold with touch of red/rust for accent. The room reflects a gold because of lighting so see the close up of the fabric, or choose your own and recover! Would be perfect at the end of a king bed, or as a linking conversation piece in a large room. I have used it in my dining room for extra seating at large family gatherings. Downsizing and now it must go. Dimensions are 81" long at widest(arms) 30 5/8" deep, 31" to top of arms, 19" to the top of the seat, and clearance of 10" underneath. Pillows not included.
