This is a wonderful copy of an old desk made by a great craftsman-artist. The desk is over 8' tall and is in show conditon. Never really used as a desk. Looks like brand new. Beautiful original condition leather topped Mid Century Modern late 1940's Edward Wormley for Dunbar desk. The color is a dark shade of green that almost looks bluish. But i think perhaps the pulls are not original. a spot of white paint on the frame of the door is easily removed. and 2 bits of veneer to replace on the desk front. it had casters on the bottom, but they are no longer with this piece of furniture. it is easy to find 4 more. i have not cleaned the dust off this unusual piece. i just got it yesterday. it would seem to have the original finish and save for the pulls( and they may be original as well. it is exactly as it was made. perhaps victorian. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

This is a very nice Chippendale style mahogany secretary desk. The desk is complete and is in good condition with several cosmetic flaws but great structural integrity. This desk is complete with original"Genuine Mahogany" tag(photo#3) 2 paper Maddox tags and a metal Maddox shield(photo#9) The shield reads"Maddox Colonial Reproductions Jamestown, NY. The desk is complete with claw feet(photo#5) and beautiful top decoration(photo#4) There are four large drawers in the bottom part of the desk that work perfectly. The desk is quite beautiful when you put the slant top down into writing position. The writing surface is in nice condition but does have several scratches on it. There are five small drawers across the inside of the desk that are topped by 8 letter slots(4 on each side) an open center space with a door, and two hidden ... morevertical pillar drawers(photo#6) There is some damage around the knobs of the drawers and door, particular the center drawer and door, and something stuck inside one of the letter slots(see photo#7) The glass doors on the top of the desk are in very nice condition with the only visible flaw being some imperfection(retouching? in the finish at the center of the doors(photo#8) There are three shelves behind the glass doors. The top shelf has some paper stuck on three side of the back left corner(I do not know if it can be removed or what the finish looks like underneath it) and a circular scuff mark on the back in the center(photo#10) On the lower portion of both the right and left side there is some kind of residue or damage(photo#11) I do not know exactly what it is or if it can be repaired. Finally, the curved parts that stick out above the first large drawer have some damage from moving(photo#12) This desk was in the living room of my grandparent's house from the 1950's or 1960's until we recently sold the house and moved it up to New Jersey. Victorian Eastlake 1880 Antique Rolltop Secretary Desk& Bookcase. This 1880's Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk has a cylinder roll and bookcase top. Solid walnut with genuine burl panels. The satiny finish is in superb condition on this American made antique furniture. The barrel shaped rolltop has book matched burl and glides smoothly open. Inside are small cubicles and drawers. The writing surface with well worn red leather pulls forward. Lower drawers have original brasses and round pin and cove dovetail joints. The bookcase section is removable and has shelves that adjust on wooden supports. There are small mars at the edges plus various old restorations. Antique 1800s Secretary desk, hidden drawers, hand carved -MAKE OFFER-
I believe This desk was made sometime in the 1800s. It's 100% hand carved. It does not appear to be a replica to look old. It has many makers mistakes hidden inside its drawers and the underneath(bottom) of the desk seems to have much age wear on it as if it has been taken very good care of but still needed some repairing along the way. I wish I knew more of the story behind this beautiful desk but it was bought at an estate sale so I do not. I have too many pictures to post them all so if you would like a video or more pictures please feel free to ask. Very beautiful dark wood and pretty solid for its age. It does look to have it's wear from over the years but it's very solid. The entire top of the desk comes off which I don't know if it's supposed to or not. Plantation 1860 Antique Walnut Secretary Desk. Map Chest. Said to be a"plantation desk" This style of secretary from about 1860 was used to manage a large farm or plantation. The locking drop front secured cubicles and a small drawer for papers and ledgers. The top lifts to a compartment for rolled maps and charts. A drawer below has hand dovetailed joints. Hand chamfered bottom and knobs attached with wooden screws. Delicate wave or waterfall moldings are beautiful on this American made furniture. Antique Victorian walnut secretary desk. In good condition with a few repairs. The drawer bottom has been replaced with plywood on the bottom drawer. Two small interior desk drawers have small round nails, some interior scratches, hinges have been moved on the drop front desk lid, some missing burl veneer and splits on bottom corners of drop front lid, some missing burl veneer on bottom right, a small piece of wood missing on bottom left. The Victorian secretary is all walnut with burl walnut highlights. Incised design on drop front lid, original wavy glass, chamfered panels on interior of bottom doors, original chamfered panels for secretary back. The secretary measures 79" high, 48" wide, and 18" deep. This a very nice quality piece of early Victorian furniture worthy of repair. And priced reasonably.
