I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. In the very top center it has a router carved lion style or dolphin head. This has wonderful claw and ball feet at the floor area. This is 77" tall. At top center, in other words a taller cabinet than most other ones found. This is 40" wide, 14" front to back. The lattice china cabinet china door is 17 3/4" wide, 13" tall. The beveled glass mirror is 15 1/2" wide, 17 3/4" tall. The shelf above the china cabinet for setting items of choice is 21" wide, 9 1/2" front to back. The routered carved drop front secretary lid is 17 3/4" wide, and 15" front to back. When you find these secretary the interior cubby hole drawers are usually missing or just have one. THIS ONE HAS 2! They are 8" wide, 16 1/2" front to back and 2" deep. This has 3 bowed out drawers with the original brass pulls. Here is some antique hardware from a secretary i removed from a farm house here in Penna. Unfortunately it was stored in the basement and its legs had damage so i been piecing it out. These parts were at the top front of the desk that the door was attached to and the slide arms measures 7 inches long from top to bottom straight across not measuring with the curve then the button latches measures 2 3/8 inches long from bottom to top. Vintage Cylinder Desk This is a fantastic vintage cylinder desk. It is a Mid-Century Danish Modern piece. It was made in Sweden. There is actually a label on the bottom with a maker's mark. Which we have been unable to identify. I have provided a picture of it- I believe it is a combination of the letters M S and I. It is also marked"No. 58747" and"528" The original hardboard back was marked"valnot" which means"walnut" in Swedish. We had to replace the back so this indicator has been removed. We are not sure which parts of the desk are composed of Walnut. Most of the desk surfaces have a gorgeous veneer. The star feature of the desk is the perfectly curved cylinder top. All of the drawers are 1 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" deep. The top and bottom drawers are 8 7/16" wide, and the center drawer is 12 5/16" wide. There are also 3 drawers below the writing surface, each of which measures 4 1/8" tall, 16" deep and 31 3/16" wide. This is in great condition overall with some general signs of age or use. There are some chips in the veneer on the bottom/front portion of the bottom drawer. The cubby and small drawer structure on the interior of the desk is slightly bowed. The upper section is about 200 years old lined in Original Wallpaper. The glazed cabinet has a single glass door with nine panes. The glass is exceptionally wavy. Inside are three shelves for books or your favorite primitive smalls. The top is flat with double molded crown. It is made of Southern Heart Pine. Walnut and Poplar hand planed wood. I am not able to pack this chair myself for safe shipping. I'm very pleased to offer this gorgeous finely crafted and painted antique Victorian chair. That is all original. It is believed to have been made in the time period from late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. I have never seen one quite like it before, and believe it to be a rare find, especially in such great condition. It appears to be made of cherry wood and decorated with a beautifully painted floral on the seat. On the center back of the chair, there is a graceful lady dancing hold a hand-mirror. The frame of the back of the chair also has hand-painted delicate flowers adorning it. I'm not sure if you can see it in photos, ... morebut the front of the legs have a small amount of floral hand-painting on them, as well. The back of chair appears to be hand-carved with elegant detail having a hole that fits 2-3 fingers to lift and move the chair. While adult size, it is small in stature, possibly having been a vanity or dressing table chair for the lady, or simply a decorative side chair suitable for nearly any room. We are pleased to be offering today this true Victorian burl walnut secretary bookcase desk that dates from the Eastlake era of the 1870s to 1880s. This desk is truly Eastlake as it has the circular dove tail that was used for a short period of time and really pin points the date range of the desk. It came out of a pretty nice estate on the east coast. It appears to have been refinished years ago in a medium walnut stain finish. It has all the hardware intact. All the burl walnut panels are intact. The only thing we did was replace the felt on the pull out tray as the other one was stained. The desk comes with the original wavy glass on the bookcase glass doors top. Three adjustable shelves that appear to be true original shelves, the doors have burl panels on all four sides with ... morerosette covers and even comes with a key. It has a crown molded top, beautiful burl walnut center and the pull tray. The base cabinet sports three graduated drawers with the circular round Eastlake dove tail and carved columns coming down both sides and lots of burl walnut. The overall size is 40 inches at the widest point, 23 inches deep, 31 inches high to the writing surface and 87 inches high overall. One thing I would like to add is that these desks usually have white wood sides or non walnut sides, but this one is truly all walnut as you can see in the numerous pictures. The original backboards are all in place. The desk is a nice original desk. The more I look at it, it appears like they just put a clear coat of shellac on it to brighten it up back years ago. There are lots of scuffs and scratches, some water marks and bubbling on the inside backing and the right top part needs to be nailed down better. The mullion on the right side is held in partly by duct tape but can be easily fixed with a small finishing nail. The rectangular upper section with tambour slides flanked by simulated tambours opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of drawers and valanced pigeon holes fitted to and set back upon the conforming lower case with hinged lid opening to a baise lined writing surface supported by lopers centering a pair of aligned thumb-molded short drawers above a pair of serpentine tambour slides flanked by demilune simulated tambours, the case raised on square tapering legs with string inlay outlines. SIZE: 45" h x 38" w x 20-1/4" d. CONDITION: Desk retains original surfaces with overall minor cosmetic veneer repairs. Brass hardware appear to be later period replacements. INCREDIBLE IN BOTH DETAIL AND CONDITION. We are pleased to offer this EXQUISITE. Antique, French, Louis XV, petite(Bonheur du Jour) writing desk/secretary. This is a 2 piece unit, with the hutch sitting freely upon the desk. The pieces are Mahogany or Kingwood and feature intricate, inlaid veneer of Rosewood or Tulipwood. Both pieces feature EXTENSIVE, ORNAMENTAL BRONZE MOUNTS AND TRIM. The detailing on the bronze is quite elaborate, especially the crown on top top of the hutch and the trim around the desk perimeter. The bronze is fashioned into shells and flowers and it is simply superb. There are very large bronze, acanthus leaf mounts on the upper sections of each leg and the feet have bronze mounts as well. The two lower drawers on the hutch feature a rope/twist bronze trim. There are 4 Sevres porcelain plaques/mounts on the unit as well. ... moreThere are large, courting couples" on the hutch door fronts, and floral medallions on the desk front. The porcelain is finely painted and gilded. The larger plaques are signed"Geo. Rochelle" The doors and desk are locked with the original key present. The hutch has several storage compartments. The desk has partitioned storage as well. The desk has a beautiful leather covered, slide back compartment with extensive gold gilding on the leather perimeter. The interiors of the units are in extremely nice condition and don't appear to have been used much at all. The back of the desk is plain. Not decorated, and the piece is meant to be against a wall. The desk and hutch are in remarkable condition for their age. There is very minor, and very common, aging to the veneer with just a couple of minor nicks on the cabriole legs.
