Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony. The desk is a reproduction made by the Maddox Table Co. of Jamestown, New York. This desk comes right out of the New England estate. The desk has those wonderful features most folks are looking for, such as all-wood drawers with dovetail corners, and clawed feet. The hardware and locks are the originals that came with the desk, not replacements. The desk was in my family for around 60 or so years, so the desk dates to at least 1950, and it may be older than that- I'm just not sure. The desk is the slant-front style, hinged at the bottom, so it opens up and the front lays flat to become the writing surface; the desk front can be locked. When the desk front is opened and lowered into the writing position, two arms come out automatically to support the writing surface. Inside the desk there are 3 small drawers, and holders for stashing letters and so forth. In the center of the opened desk, inside, there is a closed compartment with no lock; the compartment door is scratched. There are 3 drawers below the writing surface that extend almost the full width of the desk, and each one of them can be locked. These drawers have a graceful bow front(see photos) Above the desk itself is a prominent feature, a bookcase with 2 shelves covered by hinged glass doors that swing out and can be locked. The bookcase doors do not line up 100% vertically when closed, a common problem with these desks. Meubles RINCK" is an entity specializing in high end furniture inside the RINCK group. The desk is 52" wide x 27" deep x 30 1/2" high. The underside is stamped with the maker's mark by M. Rinck and the seal of"UNION NATle INDUSTRIE FRANCAISES DE L'AMEUBLEMENT" The 3 drawers all lock with a deadbolt and each have their own key. The two outside drawers measure 10 1/2" wide X 20" deep X 3" high with the middle drawer measuring 15 1/2" wide X 21" deep X 3" high. This desk was my father's pride and joy. My earliest memories of it date back to the 1970s when we lived in NYC and it was in his private study. It is in excellent condition with signs of use on the burgundy leather working area on top which also has a couple of stains. A competent furniture restorer can easily replace this leather piece but I would order a replacement directly from Rinck to preserve the desk's heritage. The following information was supplied by Rinck in reply to my recent email inquiry regarding the desk's provenance: Dear Sir, I can confirm that desk is coming from our company and Parisian work shop. I can not be more precise about the year. Because all client's files are archived, but: It is a Louis XV style desk, traditionally manufactured with a solid oak structure, with mortaises and tenons joined, hand dovetail joins for the drawers, black lacquered finishing, ornate with sand casted, chiseled, and ormolu set of bronze. The round UNIFA stamp on the underside of the desk is there to assure the desk has respectability and was constructed to the standards of the Professional Union. The UNIFA stamp also confirms your desk is from the period between 1960 and 1980. Because after it would have been stamped"Groupement ébénisterie d'art" As Rinck at this period was only working on

The three adjustable shelves each measure 9” in depth and 41 ¼” in width. This is truly one of the most beautiful Victorian Secretaries of its kind that we have had the privilege to offer. You will notice that there is some faint writing on the back of the piece(see the e-Bay photo) that probably indicates either the maker or the person for whom the piece was made. From what we can see it is signed M. Hall, Hannibal, MO. The details on this Secretary are absolutely wonderful! This beautiful Secretary is constructed of mahogany. And flame mahogany over a secondary wood and the details are exquisite! Antique leather & wood travel countertop cubbyhole secretary desk vtg
This interesting old countertop travel desk or secretary is in fine shape. It measures closed approximately 15 x 10 x 9 inches. When opened it is 16" tall. I don't think it was ever used. The wonderful leather is a deep reddish mahogany color with brass handles on the sides and hinges. The bottom drawer and 2 other drawers easily pull out. Drawers are lined with a beige material as is the bottom. Leather straps snap onto 2 upper pieces and there is a buckle with snap on top. There is a small 1/4" mar on top and a bit of leather weakness where prong goes into hole on leather strip. Otherwise very minor wear to leather. Weighs about 7 pounds. Out of USA buyers. Antique French Provincial Style Secretary Drop Leaf Desk Writing Desk Mahogany
Antique/Vintage 1920's Style Half Secretary Drop Front Writing Desk in Mahogany. The desk has beautifully carved fluted front cabriole style legs and simple rear legs. The full drawer has 2 ornate brass pulls which have decorative cutout pulls and pull plates; the bottom side of the drawer carved in a serpentine design. This serpentine cut is seen again on the sides of the drop front panel. The panel also has a beautiful scrolled leaf motif on the center. The drop front is secured to the desk by 1 extension bracket and 2 hinges. Which are all in excellent working condition. The inside of the desk has 4 raised slots and one small drawer. The top of the desk has a carved back gallery. This is the perfect antique desk to decorate a small space. Whether it be in a hallway, entryway, living, or family room. This is an amazing Slant top secretary writing desk in great condition! It is antique white painted over genuine mahogany and gold painted edges for added detail! This Chippendale secretary desk has such details and charm as well as quality made! The overall paint color is a creamy white and in some areas you see the mahogany showing thru. There is some very minor paint loss at the bottom and some around the edges but in think it adds additional character and charm to this piece! The hardware is an antique look and dark brown almost black in color. The drawers are dovetailed at the edges which is a stronger way to connect the ends together! Has turned legs with a slant front desk top that lifts up and a secretary style top with doors that open and cubbies inside. Not sure of history of this piece. We obtained it from an estate sale in Johnston County, North Carolina. One of the most interesting thing about this desk is that in the upper corner of the right door there is a piece of paper taped inside that lists the presidents of the United States and has 24 of them with Woodrow Wilson being the last one and the date listed is 1893. This piece looks like perhaps the top may have been added later, not sure, and also where the slant top is looks like it was altered at one time as well. An amazing piece, all pegged. Unusual Antique Wooden Sewing Box Roll Top Cabinet Secretary Desk Dollhouse
Unusual wooden Antique sewing box in the shape of a roll top secretary. Very nicely made with warm wood patina and hand edge decoration made to look like inlay. It measures about 6 3/4" tall. 5 1/4" wide and 3 5/8" deep. The top lifts and the doors open to reveal a velvet lined thread storage area. The writing surface slides out and the roll opens simultaneously. The inner area here is lined with blue silk. There is a brass decoration which looks like an animal with a woman's head. The bottom compartment does not seem to open although perhaps I just can't figure out how to open it. There is no key. Part of the velvet inside is missing. And the satin inside is worn. There are two tiny feet on the bottom which are missing. This would also make a nice secretary for an Antique dollhouse. Guaranteed as described. Here is an terrific mid-late 19th century flame mahogany column step back secretary with fold out desk. Turned legs and glass door bookcase or storage& display cabinet above and three large functional bureau drawers below. I've detailed the restoration work this lovely piece will need to bring it back to it's former full value in my detailed description of condition above and in my multiple photographs included to accurately represent the design, quality, condition and construction as well as the overall beauty and potential of this marvelous old piece of mahogany furniture bargain priced as a restoration project. It has had a few small professional repairs to the veneer previously. This wonderful cabinet travels easily in two pieces and stands 68 1/2 inches tall by 42 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches deep front to back. The top ... morebookcase section measures 33 1/2 inches tall by 42 1/2 inches wide at the bonnet by 12 3/4 inches deep front to back. It has 12 panes of glass in it's upper cabinet doors and three small drawers run across the bottom within the top cabinet just below the two display shelves. The bottom bureau section measures 36 inches tall with a 35 inch tall flat surface height when the desk is closed and a 3/4 inch recessed space along the back for the upper bookcase to rest in. SECRETARY Vintage Secretary Desk or Dress about 60 to 90 years old in my opinion. It has a pull down top for a desk but my son broke it so it does not stay down properly. It has the 2 nails that hold it down when it is pulled down that my son broke. He pressed to hard on it and the nails broke through. PROBABLY CHERRY WOOD- DOVE TAIL DRAWS. But the rest is in good condition. I have the key for the top and the rest of the piece is like a dresser so you could use only as a dresser if you do not want to repair. Antique Secretary Desk/bookcase Liberty Co Ltd. Circa 1900
Up for sale is an antique Secretary/bookcase made by Liberty Co. Ltd of the U.K. All appears original with a possible exception of the hinges on the drop-down desk. The drawer pulls are hammered copper. Overall it is 36 inches wide. And about 51 1/2 inches tall. The secretary desk area is about 26 1/4 inches wide. The fold down desk supports are 10 inches in length and the drawer is about 21 by 13 inches. The name plate for Liberty Co Ltd is on the inside of the drawer at the front. I have no keys for the locks. This was made about 1900 and the style is late nouveau or early arts and crafts. All is in excellent condition. Please view the pictues.
