I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage circa 1860s to 1880s Antique Victorian Walnut DIMINUTIVE SIZE platform rocker. This rocker is a petite size- basically for a woman or smaller framed person. It is lower from the ground to the seat than most rockers of this type and somewhat more narrow than a conventional platform rocker. One of my later pics shows the rocker next to a large Hunzinger Platform rocker and in another pic next to a pair of Victorian Side Chairs- this will help with get an idea of just how big/small this item is. Its almost like what I would call a youth size. More for a petite woman or a smaller framed man- definitely not for any one who is heavy or tall. Here's a sturdy. Mission style, one owner, wooden rocking chair that was one Michael Johnson's when he was a child. Michael, I'm told, is now 63 years old. This is an estate find and may have been reinforced at some point in time. And may also have been upholstered at some time. This rocker was crafted from a beautiful warm. Medium-toned wood. It's 23 1/4 inches tall and the rockers are 19 inches long. The seat is 11 3/4 inches deep and measures 10 3/4 inches across the front and 8 3/4 inches across the back. The back rises 14 inches from the seat. The arms are 13 3/4 inches across the front and taper to 11 3/4 inches across at the back. The seat is 8 1/2 inches from the floor at the back and 11 inches from the floor at the front. The underside is marked on the slats: Mary Evelyn Johnson(with the street address where we bought ... moreit- in Richmond. VA) Belongs to Michael Johnson. Not sure if it was new at that time or given from someone else. The joints are all solid and there are no cracks. You are viewing a beautiful rocking chair. It has Maxwell Original Boone Collection Markings. The lady we have gotten the chair from also removed Ethan Allen stickers off of it. So I am not sure which company it belonged to. The seat is made out of very high quality leather and fabric material and it was hand sewed tight on to the seat. I also will include the back and the seat pillows. VERY VERY durable and usable chair. Shows great craftsmanship and style. This is a great corner piece where you can kick back and relax. This auction is for an original Stickley rocking chair. It has the logo on the back of L&J.G. Stickley Handcraft. This chair dates to between 1907-1912. The chair measures approx. 36 1/4 inches tall 26.5 inches wide 31.5 inches deep. Seat height is approx. 16 inches high. Measurements are to furthest points. This chair is very well made and for the age and being used is in nice shape. The wood looks to have its original finish and really shows just light wear from use. The upholstery on the cushion was added at some point in its history. Could be left as is or reupholstered. I have shipping set up as pickup only but shipping or delivery could be arranged. VINTAGE BENTWOOD THONET ROCKER / ROCKING CHAIR IVORY1950'S SOLID NO CREAKS!
This is a 1970's Thonet-style. Adult size, bentwood rocker finished in enamel paint that was originally an ivory color. After acquiring the chair at an estate sale and cleaning it thoroughly, it is ready to rock. The finish has yellowed over the years, though most of the yellowing could probably be removed with light steel-wool. There are various chips and scratches in the finish-please view pictures carefully. The chair could definitely be re-painted. The chair is incredibly solid! To test. We had a 6'4" 216 pound man try it out and he rocked for several minutes(didn't want to get up because of the soothing nature of the rocker! No creaking or sounds of strain from the rocker! It does not move at any of the joints if one applies pressure to opposing angles. It rocks perfectly without any creaks, squeaks or other sounds of ... morestrain on the frame. The caning is also completely sound, with no sagging or worn spots, nor any stains. The only markings on the chair are on the underside of the seat where"Made in Poland" is imprinted in the rim. I believe that taking the chair apart for shipping. Or possible jarring during shipping, could possibly interfer with the structural integrity of the chair, so the chair is available for pick-up by buyer or buyer's agent(freight company) or, we could drive within 100 miles of Fremont, OH, to deliver it@ $.50/mile round-trip. Sturdy Bentwood Wooden Child Rocker with Pressed Back- early 20th century. Front of seat is about 12" from the floor and approximately 14" wide. Measures about 26" in back from floor to top of the pressed back. Rockers are about 22" long. An appraiser provided the following information: Rocker is a"press back" bentwood rocker. The design in the back was not carved. It was made by the impression of a sharp steel die under great pressure that was rolled across the surface of the wood. The design was literally pressed into the wood. The"bentwood" obviously comes form the way the arms are constructed. The chair was factory made around the turn of the 20th century. Virtually identical chairs are shown in the book"American Wooden Chairs 1895-1908" published by Schiffer. It is a reprint of the catalogs ... moreof the period of Phoenix Chair Co of Sheboygan. Wis. Lebanon. NY Shaker community over 150 years ago. The pressed# 2 on the top slat and the original Shaker trademark date this chair from between 1860 to 1870. The style of the chair is armless with three nicely arched slats. The finials are the typical"acorn" style on finely turned necks. The rockers are fine blades that are slightly tapered towards the back and held in place with nice early nails. The seat is original, finely woven, herringbone patterned black ash splint, with a lovely, subtle curve in the front. Has a small tear in the upholstery I tried to highlight in the photos as well as a minor stain. I've never tried to clean it off so it may not be permanent for all I know. Antique rocking chair in great condition. It was passed down from my father's side of the family and appraiser said it was from 1870's-1890's barrel slat-back made of tiger oak cut wood. It is hand-crafted possibly in Germany. Which is consistent with my great grandparents heritage. Origin can not be certain as there are no markings to indicate who made it. There is a small crack or two on the surface of the cushion that does not go through to the stuffing. The chair seat cushion feels like it is stuffed with some kind of hay or grass? It doesn't feel like cotton. Chair is 49.5" tall and 26" wide and is sturdy. We are asking that buyer arranges shipping/pick up.

Unique 19th Century American Antique Hoop Skirt Rocker With Great Paint DESCRIPTION: Truly a unique piece of antique American furniture. Painted black all over. Then covered with dozens of exquisite, detailed, hand-painted figures including angels, human figures, insects, horses, dogs, ships, etc, in a gold decorated matrix. This one belongs in a museum. Classic design that allowed women wearing hoop-skirts to sit comfortably without the arms of the chair interfering with their dress. I have been told it was probably made in New England, first half of the 19th century. Wood peg construction. Seat height 15" seat is 19" across the front, 14 1/2" across back, and 13 1/2" deep; back stiles 41 5/8" high, rockers 24 1/2" long, front stretcher 17" slats are 11 5/8" across. Most interesting of the miniature ... morepaintings is that of a ship battle rendered on the bottom slat. One ship flying a red and white flag is firing on a ship flying the Liberian flag( Liberia was a country first colonized by repatriated African Americans in the first half of the 19th century. Hence the flags similar design to the American flag. The flag illustrated on this chair came into existence on April 26, 1847, replacing a similar flag with a cross in the middle(The American flag itself had been flown in Liberia from 1837-1845) It could also be a stylized attempt to represent an American flag. In that case it could be illustrating a battle that took place in the American Revolution or the War of 1812. I'm hoping historians can shed some light on this as I have not been able to find a parallel example. CONDITION: Please see photographs. Overall in excellent condition. Structurally sound with no loose joints. Old repair to one of the leg-rocker joints. Seat is firm. Original painted surface with wear to painted figures and other decoration. Here is what I believe to be a Vintage wooden baby/ toddler/large doll rocking chair. A one year old child could fit in this.And a very small two year old. It measures around 16 inches high,11 inches width and 16 inches length of the bottom rocker area.It looks to be homemade,although I am only guessing. It is a beautiful dark wood,and the bear looks to be carved. The rocker bottom has a long crack,and could be replaced or fixed. There are areas of chipping and missing wood on the front and very back of the rocker bottom ends.They could probably be replaced. There is a tiny bit of paint dots inside seat.Please look at the photos very closely,this chair needs the bottom rocker area refurbished.It is a very attractive rocker with the little carved bear,and has little claws on the arms, which are really cute. I haven't seen too many like ... morethis one. It could be fixed up to look very nice.If you're into restoration,this rocker is for you.It needs a lot of TLC.
