Hammer marks abound throughout the sturdy construction(weight, approximately 65 lbs. Unsigned. Circa 1925. Two of the leaves among those constituting the surround to the naturalistic rose at the top of the elliptical element below the mirror have recently been repaired. That is, the iron element representing a plant stem(approximately 1/8" diameter) with the leaves attached to it, was cleanly broken at its original weld point(i.e. basally) some years ago, and is now expertly repaired(re-welded, by a professional ironworker) The piece is 4" long, and both it and its point of attachment on the larger whole are without loss. This re-weld matches the others on the piece as regards size, shape and color. The hat hook on the far left and that on the far right are slightly loose. That is, they swivel on the rods that attach them to the frame. The mirror, held by four metal tabs on the back(one on each side) is not original; a small piece(approximately 1/2" square) of glass is missing in the upper right corner, though the mirror is covered around its edges by the wrought iron, and the missing piece is scarcely noticeable. Its been power wire brushed to reveal the dark patina of the iron while leaving a nice balance of rust red. The entire piece was then clear matte coated. The bottom of each end of the stretcher has a notch that fits onto a slot on the bottom of the leg. The top of each end fits into a slot at the top of each leg. Then the table top/ work surface is placed onto the legs, sliding a tab on the underside into a slot on the top of each leg. Slipping a lock pin through these last two tabs locks the entire assembly in place. The height from floor to the work surface is 25" The top measures 22" x 15" Each leg is 20" front to back. Here is a very nice large sized cast iron doll bed. It is made just like a regular sized old cast iron bed with drop in rails and spring platform. It comes with a newer cloth covered foam mattress that was made for this. Condition is good. There are chips to the paint but no damage to the head or foot board. I think the paint is probably not original since there is grey primer on the edges of the springs only. The head and foot are painted gold. The springs seem to have unravelled at the ends and someone has added some additional wire to reinforce the platform It is about 24" long by 12 3/4" across the width and 12" tall. Vintage Antique Full Size Iron Steel Barcalo Bed Headboard Footboard Rails&Slats
I inherited this full size bed around 1987 from a friend who I have lost contact with so I can not give the exacts on when this bed was purchased or manufactured. My research shows that the bed is a Barcalo bed. Style# 2732 which originally had a walnut finish on it and possibly made as early as 1928. The headboard and footboard are hollow. When I took procession of the bed it had a gold painted finish on it. I altered the appearance slightly by slapping on some brown and black paint on the footboard and headboard to give it a distressed look. The headboard and footboard have moved four times since then so in places the two layers of paint have rubbed down to the original steel finish(I’m assuming it’s steel since a magnet sticks to it) There is one rubber slide. New paint can be easily applied or if you want to start fresh from the original steel, the paint comes off very easily by lightly rubbing with a paper towel and Goof-off. There is no rust on the any of the pieces and there are no dents. This is an original old cast iron bank. It weighs over two pounds. It is 5 3/4 inches long. 3 3/4 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches high at the foot board and 4 3/8 inches at the head board including the bird. The parts were assembled by what looks like forced borings of the old style. See the pictures of the head and foot boards) There are many later copies and reproductions. Some are shorter. Most, if not all, are substantially lighter in weight. Most have thinner solid bottoms rather than the perferations as this one has. You are bidding on one Stanley Number 7 wood jointer plane as pictured. It is marked with"BAILEY" on the front end. PAT'D MAR 25-02 AUG 19-02" behind the frog, No 7" on the back end, PAT 7-24-88 STANLEY" on the lateral lever, B" on the reverse side of the lever cap, and"STANLEY PAT AP'L 19 92" on the iron. And owner"C A K" stamped his initials on both sides. Condition is generally good. The bottom and sides have some patina. But no pitting. The front knob has a variety of dings in the wood. The rear handle is unbroken, but has a splotchy appearance with some of the clear finish worn off, and some of the clear finish now very yellowed. I would guess that the rear handle is a newer replacement. The iron and chipbreaker have some patina, but virtually no pitting, and a previous owner ... moredid some flattening of the back of the iron. Except as noted, there are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly. It would benefit from a cleaning. Wooden Casters Great set of casters and brackets off of an 1880's Victorian walnut bed. The wheels are two different sizes. The two smaller ones were on the footboard. I don't know if they were smaller to begin with or if they got worn down. Brackets are cast iron, the screws do not all match but are the ones that were in the brackets. The casters do not"lock" into the brackets, if you lift the piece furniture higher than the stem they will fall out. Dimensions: Two wheels are 2 3/4" diameter and the other two are 2 1/2" diameter. Stems are 3 1/4" long. Brackets are 3 1/2" tall x 2" wide and they protrude 3 1/8" Condition: As removed from the bed. Very dusty. No breaks. Wheel centers do have some wear but nothing to excessive.
