Rare Vintage Iron Hospital Baby Crib Bed from Mercy Hospital, Authentic Old Crib
This is an extremely rare real(not a reproduction) vintage hospital baby crib or bassinet. It measures approximately 32 inches long by 18-1/2 inches wide by 35-1/2 inches tall. The removable basket which holds the mattresses measures approximately 29 inches long by 15 inches wide by 12 inches high. When the basket is in the crib. It adds another inch to the total height of the crib, making it 36-1/2 inches tall. There are two original mattresses which have the original tags and they are stamped Mercy Hospital Assn. The mattresses are age discolored and somewhat stained and are not sanitary for use with a baby and would need to be replaced or at the very least sealed in a heavy sanitary cover. The bed has been repainted with enamel paint but is otherwise completely original. Underneath the paint, the bed is chrome. I have had this bed for ... moremany years and have been using it to hold dolls and/or linens. It would also be a great outdoor piece for flowers, etc. Really rare item. Antique Wrought Iron & Brass Crib Converted ToToddler Bed/ Day Bed Display Piece
We are pleased to offer to the market this great antique crib. This piece is made from wrought iron and has brass accents on the head and foot rails. It has been converted to a day and is being sold for display purposes only. The previous owner had cushions made to use as a day bed/bench. This piece measures as follows: Height = 41.5" Width = 29.5" Length = 54.5" 16" from floor to top edge of box spring. There is a 3" space between the rails on the end pieces and the side pieces have a 4" space between the rails. The metal box spring is intact with no damage to the springs. Both of the side rails are with htis piece. the fifth picture shows the unattached side leaning against it. One of the rods for attaching the side rails is bent. A second rod has the hook to hold side up broken and there is a very minor bend/sag ... morein the bottom part of one of the side rails. The piece has the original metal to hold the casters but does not have any casters on it. There are age and use appropriate scratches and dings to the paint. Cast Iron Twin Size Bed chic & shabby Gr8 shape Straight Antique original paint
This bed has been the property of a single family for many generations. It is quite the amazing piece as even the white paint is all original to the date of manufacture. There is one noticeable bend in the thin iron of the foot-board. As you can see in the photos. I am positive that it would take no more than a strong arm to bend it back into shape. I can't find any more defects on the piece. But it is being sold as-is with no warranty due sole to the age of the bed. Beautiful antique iron twin bed painted in white with gently scalloped head& foot boards. Exploding iron twirls and fleu de lis caps. Little or no rust on the head and foot boards. The iron railings slip easily into cutouts on each end. The railings have some rust, but this is easily removed. I have only taken one picture of the bedframe b/c it's been raining here all weekend! Many times the delicate iron twirls on these early beds are bent from age& wear through the years, but the iron twirls on this bed are in perfect shape. Primitive Iron Crank Catalin Bakelite Handle? Bed Spanner
Very interesting piece- I have tried to identify it for quite some time and got some help from colleagues on ebay. This is definitely an old authentic crank made of iron fitting(rachet type) and a handle that is butterscotch and possibly bakelite or catalin. It is not plastic and too opaque to be glass so I am assuming it may be one of the other two possibilities. The experts say most likely a bed spanner(term seems to be used more in Europe but not exclusively) The other possibility was an ice cream churn handle- my only concern for this is the handle may be a bit short. It is quite the oddity and due to the unusual handle. It may be more rare. I could not find another like this on any site- auction or otherwise. Measures 3 1.2 inches long x 1 1/2 inches across the metal portion. The puzzling handle is 2 inches long. It is in good condition ... morebut does have a small hairline crack at the point where the wrought iron metal meets the handle of approx. 1/4 inches long- appears structurally sound. Up for bid is a beautiful very old iron bed that we have had in a guest room for about 25 or 30 years. Don't think it has been slept on more than a dozen times. The mattress is much newer. It has head and food board. Drop in locking rails with ledges for slats; slats are included as well The mattress is a super firm mattress, but from just being stored has a frayed section on one side. Iron on materials could cover this and then a mattress cover would protect it more. Other than that, it is in excellent extra- firm condition. No stains. The box springs too is in excellent condition. If you want them you can have them with the bed, rails and slats. Feel free to e-mail questions before bidding. I found this old bed in a little shop here in south Alabama(near Mobile. On the coast) It is solid and the rails fit well, however, it is a little wobly. This bed was being used by an old family! The size is 53" wide and 77" long. It has the original iron rails(hard to find) This is an original antique iron bed from the true south. Shipping: I have shipped these via Greyhound in the past. I would pack the bed in three separate packages and send it to the Greyhound bus station nearest you. Sometimes. I have been able to put both pieces in one package and send the rails separately. This would be expensive. I would recommend freight. Freight is cheap and fast, and they never break any of the items I ship. The cheapest way to send via freight is to send to a freight company or a local business(with regular hours) in your area. Antique 1905 Iron and Brass Double Bed
This beautiful ornate iron. Brass, silver-toned metal and oak double bed was in the home of the eminent and much-loved doctor, Giles Lucas, and his wife, Lucy Jane, when his daughter, who they also named Lucy Jane, was born in 1906 in Van Buren, Arkansas. It stayed in the mansion until 1970, when it was shipped to the home of Lucy Jane Cannon in Florida. The humid environment in Florida over the years caused the paint to peal, and concerns about health issues connected with lead paint led to the decision to remove all the loose paint. The present owners have removed some of the layer of lacquer which obscured the luster of the brass. The iron has had all the loose paint removed, as have the silver-colored metal ornaments at the intersection points. All four casters are in place. The bed is still in great shape, and is beautiful. Because of ... moreits weight it would be better if it were sold locally, in the Seattle area, and picked up here.
