Edward Wormley for Drexel Precedent Mid Century Step Tables Probber Dunbar
This is an extremely rare pair of step tables designed in 1947 by Edward Wormley for Drexel and called the Precedent line. He only designed the one collection for them in between separate stints designing for Dunbar. They have a couple issues. One has aline on the drawer front and they both have slight discoloration on the tops(pic#4) and one has marks on the top above the drawer as seen in pic# 7. They both have glass tops which are in good condition with no chips or scratches. Both drawers glide smoothly and have contact paper in the drawers. This cabinet has scratches along the bottom and some scrapes here and there. Not shown in the photos are long vertical scratches along the sides. Motorola FM Stereophonic AFC with the table marked design by Drexel. The table is an octagon shape with rattan inserts and well constructed. We are selling a beautiful dining room set consisting of an oval table that expands with 2 leaves and six matching dining room chairs. The Talavera from Drexel Heritage was crafted in December. 1972(certificate printed on underside of table) and has been extremely well cared for by its original owner, my grandmother. A protective pad and tablecloth were kept on the table whenever it was in use. This is a beautiful used post card for Drexel University and was sent to someone in Warren. Maine in 1908. There is no other message sent. There is an attractive but odd two color greeting from the school. It is in good overall condition. Drexel is a university in Philadelphia, PA and considered on of the best universities in the country. It was established by Anthony Drexel, a Philly financier and philanthropist. Until 1970, for many years it was called Drexel Institute of Technology. When this card was written the name of the school apparently was Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry. The school's attractive emblem or logo or whatever it is called is shown. I read that its great nickname of the Dragons first appears in 1928, in an informal naming. Or one of the largest collections in the United States of high school and college memorabilia, particularly of Northeastern school, especially in Pennsylvania. This unique Mid Century sofa has its original upholstry. Length is 98" Seat height/top of seat cushion from floor is 18"maybe 18 1/4" Top of back from floor is 27"possibly 27 1/4" The label on the underside indicates it was from Heritage-Morganton, divisions of Drexel furniture. I don't know the exact history so I'm assuming it was made prior to the name of the company changing to Drexel-Heritage. It has been under a slipcover for at least 15 years. It is extremely comfortable. There are no stains that I have seen, and I've looked it over as well as I could. The platform under the cushions show no stains and is in good condition.The wood trim is in very good condition. Even the batting under the sofa is in tact. Two mid-century modern chests of drawers made by Drexel. Designed by Edward Wormley. The larger chest is 19" by 32" by 43" and has seven drawers. The smaller chest measures 17.5" by 20.5" by 28.5" and has four drawers. The chests date to around the 1950s. A place for a padlock has been added to each chest. The chests are in good condition. For sale is vintage Drexel Profile Dining Room Set. Included in the set is a table(K48) 6 captain chairs(K65) 2- 12" leaves and the lazy susan. The Drexel Profile line was designed by John Van Koert. The set is made of pecan wood and except for one minor scratch on the top of the table it is in overall excellent condition. The table measures 72" long when the two leaves are put in it and 48" long with the leaves removed. It is also 48" wide and measures 28" tall. Please see supersize pictures for intricate details.
