Art Nouveau Cut Glass Dressing Table Jar With Silver Plated Lid
On offer is a gorgeous cut glass jar with a silver plated lid. Dating from the Art Nouveau period. The glass has been moulded with a band of ovals and a floral decoration cut into it. The lid also bears a repeated floral design to match the glass and is stamped EP NS I/0 OX. This signifies that the lid is electroplated nickel silver of normal thickness and is oxidised. There are no makers marks but this type of marking is very common on WMF. But there is nothing to confirm this. Sterling silver 3 piece dressing table set, Broadway & Co, Birmingham 1939
A three part Sterling silver dressing table set of hand mirror. Hair brush and clothes brush, made by Broadway& Co of Birmingham in 1939. The silver casing is plain and the hallmarks are B&Co in an oval. For Broadway& Co, the Lion Passant for Sterling silver, the Anchor for Birmingham and'P' for 1939. The set has been well used and has numerous dinks and marks and the casing of the mirror is split. The brush bristles. Which are all intact, are embedded in wood. This is a truly vintage set that still has life left in it and needs a good home! The overall weight of all the items is just under 500grams. The P&P cost includes postage. Tel: 01432 357753 Description: This is a rare original"Ercol" limed elm and oak"Tavern Oak" early to mid 20th Century linen fold Tudor design single drawer dressing table. The dressing table retains its original Ercol reliability label verso with the Ercol Lion and bears the design number"2638" The dressing table is made from elm and oak having a deep distressed limed oak finish standing on moulded square legs to the front united by an"H" stretcher to the rear above which are the very decorative scrolled spandrels with a carved rail and carved drawer front with chip carvings and original turned oak knobs. Above this is the solid oak top with a raised gallery back again with deep distressing with raised ... moredowells and a deep limed oak finish. The dressing table is of classic traditional joined construction with mortise and tennon dowelled joints. The drawers have elm drawer linings with dovetail joints with an oak veneered drawer bottom. A beautiful piece of Ercol furniture. We have dealt with Ercol furniture for many years and this is the first time that we have come across the"Tavern Oak Range" and consider this to be a very rare piece of Ercol furniture. This is the most fabulous dressing table set I have ever seen. Silver decorated with white guilloche enamel set with a pierced 9ct gold flower studded with garnets& set with a central genuine pearl. This set has never been used. The bristles on the brushed are like brand new. The condition of the enamel is mint on every piece apart from the corner of one brush- see the photos. Full hallmarks for London with makers initials TP, sadly I can not find out who this is.
