Antique Mahogany Vanity Dressing Table Made in England
This is a superb solid mahogany vanity dressing table made in England circa 1900. To the base it has a knee hole or some times in England years ago they used to let the dog sleep in there.They called it a dog kennel, it has the original cut glass handle. The top has the original beveled mirror. And to either side there are two small trinket drawers for jewelry etc. Condition is very good. The top comes of the base so its easy to transport. To the back there are two satinwood panels. Its really a very nice piece of furniture. Measurements are 48 wide. 21 deep, 73 high. Base and the top are poker work. It stands 11 inches high. The diameter of the base is 4 ¾ inches. The top is 2 ½ inches in diameter. I have to say the pix make it look darker than it actually is. I was told when i purchased this that the wood is Dalbergia cochinchinensis which is a form of rosewood. The tradition of making these small sized pieces of furniture dates back many years to when apprentice pieces were made before the full size piece of furniture was then carved. Three Piece Glass Victorian Dressing Table Set with Silver Plated& Crested Tops. A nice little set which I have described as Victorian because that is what I think they may be and the tops as silver plated as they have markings on them which I cannot make our but do not think they are silver and are tarnished so guess the plate has worn through from polishing. The two smaller ones stand about 10cm tall and the taller one 18.5cm. I cannot see any chips or cracks on them. But inside they have some colouring from previous contents. Overall in good condition for their age and I am sure someone who knows what they are doing could clean them up really nicely. A really pretty dressing table set.

Silver(hallmarked) and green enamel dressing table set 1935-lovely condition
This dressing table set was bought by father for my mother as an Xmas present in 1935.The card he wrote is shown and I will enclose a copy if you wish. Unfortunately my parent's house waa bombed during the war and the box shows damaged caused by the blast. However the contents remained safe. The box still offers good protection for the items and of course extra protection will be given for posting purposes. I should mention that there is one tooth missing from the comb and a tiny mark on the enamel at the very end of the mirror handle. The set consists of five peices-comb.mirror. Two hairbrushes and a clothes brush. Over seventy five years old and the bristles are in very good condition as is the whole set. Hall marked L for 1935. A lustre ware dressing table set made by Maling of Newcastle upon Tyne The set is in the"Rosiland" pattern which is a floral design in pinks. Blues and greens with a gold gilded border The tray is 11.5" x 6.5" and has a chip to the underside The candle holders are 2.5" high on a 4" diameter base one of which has been repaired The trinket/powder dish is 2.75" high 4.5" in diameter and has a repair to the lid Makers mark on all items. MALING DAHLIA DRESSING TABLE SET A lovely dressing table set by Maling in Dahlia pattern. Yellow lustre background, both items fit on tray comprises oblong tray. Squat candlestick and a lidded powder/ trinket bowl all have gilt rims dimensions tray 29 x 15cm. Candlestick height 6cm, bowl diameter 11cm in very good condition no chips. Cracks or restoration, minor age related crazing brown Maling base stamp this is unboxed but will be well wrapped and boxed prior to dispatch. This oh so art deco dressing table and matching demi-lune stool is constructed of maple. Stained, and features loads of the design elements that make this period so appealing. This is a large piece of furniture. It has a huge shaped bevelled glass mirror. The base of the dressing table features three barrel-like ... moresections. The two sides having two drawers each, and the central barrel being a cupboard which opens to reveal three smaller drawers. The central barrel sits higher than the two sides. The interior of the cupboard and drawers is constructed of bird's eye maple and the piece has all original fittings, including bakelite handles. The surface of the dressing table is particularly interesting. It features three raised glass sections in semi-circular shape. The central one being mirrored and the two side pieces are black glass. This high deco piece of furniture measures 162cm high and is 134cm wide. Condition is generally very good. With no significant structural issues. There is quite a lot of foxing to the base of the mirror. Almost in a line, and some scratching to the mirrored and black glass panels on the surface. The piece is such a great look, it would be worth a total clean and polish, and perhaps re-mirroring. Silver corners both hallmarked London 1920. Maker H. F. Daltrey and Company, in very good condition with no serious dings, excessive rubbing or missing fixing pins. All items stamped'EBONY' The tray measures 12x7.5 inches and has a couple of minor historic cracks to one side which have long since been polished over, otherwise the ebony is very highly polished and in perfect condition. It is of very good quality with repousse and chased work. I cannot see any rubbed areas showing a different colour of metal bene ath and I cannot fin d any hallmarks. To be sa fe I am selling this as being silver plated and so you will have to make up your own mind. The mirror glass would need replacing and the comb has breaks to the i-vory te eth. Unused carved black horn and sterling silver comb originally made to go with an ebony vanity set. Silver hallmarked London 1924. Maker's mark P&E, no damage or rubbing whatsoever, I think I have just polished it for the very first time for the photograph. The horn body measures 7.75 inches long and is in equally perfect condition. I very rarely come across a comb and I have never seen one with all of it's teeth intact let alone in perfect condition! Edwardian silver Dressing Table Tray by Henry Matthews (24 x 18cm)
Edwardian silver Dressing Table Tray by Henry Matthews(24 x 18cm) This gorgeous dressing table tray is made of sterling silver and the base is covered in scrolling foliar repousse decoration. The sides have fluted panels that are rounded off to create a scalloped edge and it dates to the Art Nouveau period. It has the maker’s mark of the high quality silversmith. Henry Matthews but, unfortunately, I have been unable to find a hallmark. This could be because it is so well hidden within the decoration that I simply can’t find it or the piece was made for export and didn’t necessarily need a British assay mark. However, I have personally acid-tested this item and will fully guarantee that it is sterling grade silver. The decorative work of the tray is in superb condition with no holes or signs of wear. However. This is an antique item and there ... moreare a few areas of concern to highlight: There is a slight warp to the base although the tray lies very flat on a surface. At 4 or 5 places along the underside of the edge. There are some slightly raised areas of silver. This could be the result of original manufacture or later repair but nothing can be seen from above so they are barely noticeable. On my fifth inspection of the piece. I found two tiny splits. At one corner or the rim, there is a 3 mm split and there is another 5 mm one where the base folds into the edge. Neither are very noticeable or seem to affect the integrity of the piece. Lovely quality Tray panel/dressing table cloth. Beautiful lace to the outside with a plain panel with sewn cut out corners and then embroidered white flower/shamrocks panel inside. I have tried to show a close up of how lovely it is. Quite large for panel 33" long x 23" wide. I think this could be what's called Irish linen. This is a beautiful Edwardian sterling silver dressing table tray made by Henry Matthews and clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1903. It is in very good condition with no damage or repairs. The design is striking with a raised gadroon rim and extensive repousse work of scrolls. Flowers and leaves around the border. There is then a lovely sunburst design leading to a vacant cartouche which has been formed from yet more scrolls, flowers and leaves. Made of a heavy gauge of silver it has retained its original shape and sits firmly. this is a quality Edwardian silver tray from a well respected silversmith. Clothes brush, mirror and comb. Each piece is hallmarked sterling silver Birmingham 1960 with a makers mark for the silversmith William Broadway. The hair brush measures 225mm long. The clothes brushes 152mm, the mirror 235mm and the comb 165mm. The set is in used condition ans thus has some small dings and tarnish. There is a slight rattle in the mirror suggesting that some of the filling is looses although this is nothing major. On the hair and clothes brushes there are small gaps in places between the silver and the wooden frame. The silver backed comb has a few dings also. This is a superb set and would look great on any dressing table. Beautiful old antique silver hallmarked English Sterling silver and cut glass dressing table pot. this lovely old original lidded pot is a wonderful original art deco design. the top is fully English sterling silver hallmarked for Birmingham 1921. it as the makers initials HWLd. it is in good condition and the top has a circle art deco design. The hand cut lead crystal base is in good condition, no chips or cracks. the inside of the lid is gilded. itis a great display piece and looks great omn a dressing table today. it measures 4 inches or 1o c.m. across and 3 inches or 7.5 c.m. tall. The pontil rod is attached to ... morethe base of a piece whilst it still hot using a blob of molten glass. The blowing iron is then snapped off what will become the top of the piece. This allows the rim. And possibly others parts, to be opened up and finished off. Once this has been done. The rapidly cooling and increasingly brittle piece is gently knocked off the pontil rod into a lehr oven. Allowing it to cool properly. The area where the pontil rod was attached to the base of the piece is thus left rough and sharp as in the image. Sometimes this is polished away when the piece has cooled. Or else another blob of glass may be added to which a company motif may be impressed. Please read the description above carefully.
