JELLY CABINET, CUPBOARD SOUTHERN POPLAR
Offered is an genuine antique jelly cabinet from North Carolina. This is a country piece made from poplar and secondary wood is southern yellow pine. It was handmade probably around 1850 to 1890. It shows hand done scribe lines. Old square cut nails, handmade dovetails, chamfered floating panels, hand cut mortise and tenon joints and some of the lumber are very wide, unlike what was available later. I have owned this jelly cabinet for about twenty years. I purchased it in Advance N.C. My guess is that it may have had an upper piece set back on the the top, which allowed the maker to use less than prime lumber on the top. I found it useful for just storing items, which basically is what it was used for originally. So if you want a piece that offers a country look in your new modern home, this could be just the right item. Everything appears ... moreto be original, hinges, door closures, drawer pulls and even an old mouse hole in the back. Powder post beetles made their home in this piece, but I have never seen any since I've owned it. The cabinet is sturdy, holds lots of weight, not flimsy at all. This is 1 absolutely fabulous vintage solid wood 1930s corner china hutch cupboard cabinet with a glass front. It was originally a built-in for a stately old home. The style could nicely fit in with lodge or cabin type furnishings or a more formal setting. The hardware on it hand wrought iron. The glass is individual panes of nice old glass. Perhaps one of the earliest American Jam/Jelly Cupboards ever listed on Ebay. From our research. We could only find a handful of cabinets as old as this one offered anywhere on the Web. This piece is completely handmade,consisting of hand hewn boards, hand cut boards, hand forged nails(Rosehead) square pegs, hand dovetailed case, hand dovetailed drawers, hand camphored panels and drawer bottoms, with no circular saw marks on any wood in the cabinet. The hand dovetailed case is still tight and strong. The piece is made entirely of solid wood and is very heavy. We are uncertain of the type of wood used in its construction. We have found no evidence of any major repairs excluding a small piece of wood ... morereplaced on corner of one drawer front, and repair on left rear foot approx 3 to 4"both shown in photos)The hardware is NOT original to this piece, as somewhere approx 100 years ago, it was replaced with turn of the century handles and door catches. The hinges however ARE original to the piece.We have found no evidence of added nails, screws or board replacements. Drawer runners are original and in excellent shape. Drawer bottoms are original and drawers are tight. Inside boasts original shelving, attached to outer casing with beautiful square pegging, all original(shown in photo. A very old key escutcheon was used to tighten a front door, repair probably done around 1850-1860's using the escutcheon as reference(shown in photo) Finish is original on sides, however somewhere back in time, stain or varnish was applied to the front and top of cabinet. This was probably done around the same time the hardware was replaced, as it is very old. Coloring was added on repair on front drawer and rear foot, and blends nicely with original finish. Napanee Hoosier Style Kitchen Cabinet Cupboard Porcelain Top. This is a genuine Napanee Hoosier Cabinet Model J. as stamped on the back. 1925. It is just the( bottom) portion but includes the white porcelain top. The cabinet measures 48" x 27" The white porcelain top has 8 porcelain chips on the edges as you can see from the photos and two tiny flea bites, also on the side. There are 5 drawers. The top left drawer is divided into 3 back sections and 2 front sections. The drawer is 21 inches wide and 3 3/4 inches deep. The top right drawer is one large drawer 21 x 21 1/2 long and 3/3/4" deep. The right middle drawer is 12" wide and 6 1/2" deep. The bottom right drawer is a metal bread box 11" wide for the insert and 12" wide including the wood, 9 1/2 inches deep. This drawer has some damage to the wood at ... morethe top and bottom as you can see from the photos. The 2 big lower drawers each have metal brackets measuring 8 1/2" high and 13 1/2" long. Inside this section, the top shelf sides out and has been replaced. It measures 29" x 21 imches and the space height is 6 3/4" The bottom shelf has a new bottom over the old and measures 10" in height form the shelf above. There are two slide out boards: a pastry board measuring 15 1/2 x 21 3/4 wide with a hand notch undernearth for easy handling. the other is a cutting board 11" x 16" made of 1" stock wood. The back of the cabinet says Porcelain White Model J and has the original shipment tag: Napanee IND 839-M and a partial Railway sticker The veneer is wavey on the bottom back but the cabinet is solid. The cabinet needs slides for the porcelain top. The previous owner had stripped the white paint which is still visible in the edges. Old hardware. Appears to be the perfect child-sized washbasin and chamber pot holder. The drawer has lovely knapp-joint or scallop-dowel type dovetailing which was used between 1870 and the early 1900's. Brass plate and handle. There is an ink stain inside the drawer and there are scratches/scrapes as this is an old piece. There is also a crack in the front panel of the door. A very large and impressive antique. Circa 1880's, cherry stained maple Chippendale style corner cupboard. It is two piece construction: cupboard with two arched doors having sixteen panels(fifteen with the original wavy glass. The crest is broken arch type with carved flower rosettes on scroll necks, three urn finials on fluted plinths. There is an incised diaperwork to the front above the doors. The interior has an ivory color paint. The cabinet below has a center drawer between two faux front drawers, with brass batwing brass pulls. The two doors below open to a compartment with a shelf. There are two carved scallop shells on the doors. The front has carved claw feet. The interior doors of the cupboard are stained mahogany. Country Pine 1890 Antique English Hand Crafted Corner Cupboard. This charming country pine corner cabinet from about 1890 originally had no sides or back. It was built into a corner about 1890. About 50 years ago, the back and sides were added to make a free standing cupboard. Knotty pine has deep moldings. There are some shrinkage separations and warps to the doors from age for antique character. The warm honey finish is in extremely fine condition and has been waxed and buffed so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glow. This antique furniture from England has carved turn buttons to secure the doors. Dimensions are 55 1/2" across the crown tip to tip. 7' tall and the sides are 26" from the back corner to the front tip of the crown. 1800's Antique Old Rustic Chippy Shabby Farm Cabinet Cupboard Pair
Antique. Rustic, Chippy, true Antique, Cabinet Cupboard. Large floor cabinet. Thick wood, single drawer with large chunky dovetail joints. Double door cabinet. The drawer and the cabinet at one time had old locks with a key. But were replaced long ago with a large porcelain drawer knob. And a bowtie latch for the cabinet. The only thing I noticed is that the inner shelf in the cabinet might be a replacement, As it looks like newer wood. This true antique also comes with a few worm holes. This large cabinet came with the smaller cabinet stand with the glass door pull. On the bottom of the lower board shelf I found a old stamp from a grocier in Kettering Ontario. I looked and did find information on that grocier in Canada from about the mid- to late 1800's. I do not know how old these cabinets are. At least 130 years. Vintage metal bathroom medicine cabinet with side shelves. This is likely from the'40s-60s. It is in good condition and I just gave it a fresh new coat of white spray paint. The mirror is in very good condition. But does have a few scratches and worn spots if you look closely. The door hinges have bent the receiving side of the metal where it is screwed in(see pictures) but the door closes properly. This does cause the mirror to hang very slightly crooked. The back of the cabinet was rusted and I didn't thoroughly cover it with paint(ran out before finishing) One of the hanging holes in the back has been stretched/torn a little, but it won't affect how it hangs. The insides shelves are 3 inches deep and the outside shelves are 4 inches deep. The color is a dark brown. There are a total of 9 shelves. The door is glass and wood. There are 2 hooks for hanging and 4 feet for table top displays. There are some paint splatters on the top.The back is wood. The door works and is in good condition. I think someone painted the room in which this cabinet was located and that is why there are some paint spots on it. A RARE Counter or Cupboard Cabinet with the“Hoosier” spice scoops. I am not an expert in this area. But I think this might be called a“German Hoosier Spice Cabinet” The 9 glass drawer scoops were made by the German Company– Heye Schauenstein Company. This company ~ H Heye Glasfabrik Schauenstein is in Schauenstein. Germany. The Herman Heye glass Factory is well known and was started in the 1800s. it is still a major company and operates glass factories in various European countries plus USA. The Heye Schauenstein Company also made items like these to be used in cosmetic firms. Pharmacies, and in laboratories. These individual glass scoops are highly collectible and scarce ... morethemselves. As you probably know, and generally sell for $50 to $100 each. when you can find one! The glass scoops alone are woth probably almost $500. The sturdy primitive cabinet is made of wood– I see no maker marks. It is 19 ½” long x 11 ½” tall and 7 ½” deep. The scoops– 3 large and 6 small are made of heavy thick pressed glass in the shape of a scoop. The Heye Schauenstein Maker mark is on the bottom with the 3 clover leaf design in a circle as well as the company name. The scoops have a dimpled pattern on the sides and have a pull handle on the front. The small ones measure approximately 4 ¾” long x 2 ¾” wide and 2 ½” tall; the large ones measure 7 ¼” long x 4 ½” wide by 4 ¼” tall. I am not sure exactly how old this is- but VERY old- it is an original and has a great patina! Condition ~ in very good condition. The glass scoops are in excellent condition and do not have any cracks or chips or scratches except for one of the small ones had a small chip on one of the top edges– these were well taken care of. ~ The cabinet is not a piece of“fine furniture” it is more primitive– a sturdy working guy! ~ The cabinet has minor normal w

CAMBRIAN HOUSE EMPORIUM ANTIQUE CENTRE OSWESTRY Georgian Period Antique Oak Livery Cupboard. Dating from around 1760 this Georgian period oak antique cupboard is made of pegged construction. It has a moulded cornice above two cupboard doors with a key and working lock. The doors have raised fielded panels with moulded edges and the interior has the original oak back boards with oak pegs(a hanging rail has been fitted at a later date. The lower section has a moulded edge above three working and three dummy drawers at the top which hide the inside recess. This 250 year old antique is full of character and charm with the usual marks from age and use but has a wonderful. Dark oak, finish with good patina and is in good condition.
