The cane on the front of the door panels and the tops of the mirrors are in excellent condition. The top of the credenza is gorgeous barely showing any signs of use except for some very light mild surface scratches. There are some scuffs and dings mostly to the legs which is expected from age and use. There are a few on the drawers where you pull to open as well but nothing major. The last picture shows where a small piece of the veneer in the front right corner has chipped. It can easily be fixed or left as is. We have all of the brackets that hold on both of the mirrors. Overall this piece is stunning with some inlay on the top of the credenza as well. It is very heavy and sturdy. Please keep in mind all of my items are vintage and will show appropriate wear for its age. I will do my best to picture and mention any flaws I notice. However. First in my grandma's house ... morewhile growing up and then in my own home for about the past 30 years. I was told that it was custom-made and that it is one-of-a-kind. I would describe the style as subtle art deco. I have used it as a sideboard/credenza/buffet/chest as well as storage in an office, where it received constant compliments. It is wonderfully well-made in a very subtle art deco/craftsman/eclectic design that will actually work well with and complement many styles of furniture, including mid-century modern, arts& crafts, Eames era, and craftsman. I have been told by a carpenter with knowledge of wood, that it is a fine grade of teak, with beautiful dovetailing and separations between the drawer compartments and cabinet sections. One of the two side drawers is lined with green felt and partitioned to accommodate serving pieces or silverware. On each side, under the small top drawers, is a door behind which is open storage with two levels. In the center are three drawers, one shallower drawer at the top and two deeper drawers below. It is designed so that the center section with the drawers is gracefully indented between a slightly wider section on each end, with the drawers and open storage. The corners solid wood top are gracefully rounded, as is the place where the center section curves out to meet the wider sides. The hardware is beautifully simple and well designed. It is in very good to excellent vintage/antique condition. With smoothly sliding drawers and very little in the way of surface cosmetic concerns. All the joints are. Dimensions: Width is 62-1/2 inches. The two outer sections are 21 inches deep. The center section is 19-1/2 inches deep. Height is 33-3/4 inches. Inside the doors. In my ... moreopinion. I am selling the matching gentleman's dresser, or highboy, separately. Both pieces have been refinished, but missing veneer work was not done, so, as you can see in pics 4& 8 there is slight edge veneer loss at the front side corners. In pic 5 you can barely see that the veneer has been re-glued. There are a few nicks here and there, and there are hardware circles around a couple of the drawer pulls, where the handles have been rotated and made a circle in the wood around. The hardware, as well as the design, makes this piece much more eye catching, with steel pulls and horizontal rosewood tips on each pull. This piece measures 54" x 32" x 18" deep. The glass cabinets have been lined with red velvet by previous owner. The fabric is only tacked in and can be easily removed. All three doors lock with the same key. Glass is original and without cracks or chips. The left side door trim is chipped at the tip top of the fleur de lis(see photo) But this was done very long ago, as the wood has a patina from being exposed for so long. The serpentine top is original but previous owner refinished it(see photo) There are several minor nicks and scratches as viewed in the photos. Auction is for a Vintage 1960's Danish Modern Teak Sideboard. It has 3 sliding tambour doors on both upper& lower cabinets. Sideboard is in excellent condition with only a couple few stains(quarter size or smaller) on top of lower cabinet and a few light scratches here& there. Some pictures may show a red blotchy color on lower cabinet doors. There is no red blotchy color on lower doors or piece anywhere. It is reflection. It actually has a beautiful original color or patina that takes 50 years to obtain. The lower cabinet has shelf in center and 4 drawers in left side. Made od walnut and black plastic strips around the pulls. This piece measures 64 3/4" long x 20" deep x 29 3/4" tall. Early black Glenn of California badge. This is featured in Warman's Modernism guide book as seen in picture 12. One in book is slightly longer than this one) Slight wear on the top- hard to see- in pictures 4& 5 you can see a discoloration of sorts on the end of the top. Custom Executive Desk and Credenza Burlwood and Solid Hardwood Houston Area
This desk and matching credenza were custom made for the CEO of Sambo's Restaurants. Sam Battistone, who was also the original owner of the New Orleans Jazz. My husband bought Sambo's distribution center and test kitchen buildings in Carpinteria, California in the late 1980's and this set was included in the purchase. He was told that the desk alone cost $22,000. Both pieces contain multiple inlaid types of solid wood and are very heavy. The tops of both are burlwood with additional burlwood panels on the sides and drawers of the desk. The center of the credenza retracts back into the cabinet and was made to hold a television. The desk top has been covered with glass and is in excellent condition, including the leather inlay piece in the center. The desk is 38" X 84" and features a curved section in the center that matches ... morethe center sliding doors on the credenza. The credenza is 9' X 2' X 36" high. These are very high quality one-of-a-kind pieces. The pictures show the front of the desk, the back of the desk, the credenza and the top of the desk with the leather inlay. I was not able to show adequately the detail in the wood with my camera. Also, the pieces are large and the space is somewhat cramped so they were hard to photograph. Any spots on the pictures are a result of my flash and are not on the furniture. The desk and credenza are in very good condition with only some minor sun fading on the credenza and one drawer on the desk needs some repair on the track below the drawer. The metal trim has some imperfections- it is loose in the corners in a couple of places and there is some minor denting or scuffing on the pieces near the floor. I have some additional pictures and could take more of any detail you would like to see. I am listing the shipping as local pick up only. Great MCM sideboard from 1960. Made by Johannes Aasbjerg for Excellent Furniture Co. Model#236 Teak and Teak Veneer. Gorgeous cut out drawers on one side. And sliding doors on the other. Great vintage condition, with only a small area of dulling on top that should come right out with a little polish. The dimensions of the piece are: 72"L x 20"W x 32"H All of the drawers work well and are made using dovetail construction. Nice. Tapered legs are in good shape with only minimal scratches.
