MILO BAUGHMAN sideboard Thayer Coggin OLIVE BURL chrome credenza buffet eames
Up for bid is a very beautiful sideboard credenza designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. This sideboard dates to the mid 1960s and is very collectible. It measures 34.75"H x 72"L x 18.25"D. The surface is beautifully done with bookmatched Olive Wood Burl veneer throughout and sits on a chrome base. All four doors and hinge hardware work very well and open up to reveal a lot of storage space inside. Both drawers measure approximately 20"x 12"x 2.5" and still retain the original TC flatware dividers and the original TC/MB label. The left side of the credenza has both of the original adjustable shelves(one glass and one wood) Please note the dishware shown in the photos is NOT included in this auction. This credenza is in very nice condition but does have a few issues to point out. There is a small veneer ... morechip to the top corner of the left door as shown(I do still have the two veneer chips which will make for a very easy and complete repair) The inside back of the cabinet still has the original factory pale yellow paint and it shows it's age.craqueleur throughout and some areas of paint loss as shown. There are a few very light scuffs as shown(one on left side. One top side back left, and a couple more on the right side) They are not very noticeable at all in ordinary light and appear a lot more pronounced when I photographed them. The wood veneer has not been treated in any way except a light dusting since I have owned it(ten years) and I imagine that these scuffs will become practically invisible with a little wood conditioner. The chrome base still retains most of its brightness and lustre, but it could use a little cleaning and polish. The front part of the left side base is bent slightly inwards about an inch as shown. This would be a very a easy inexpensive repair for a furniture refinisher to straighten this, but it is not very noticable at all to the naked eye nor does not cause any wobble. Spectacular Executive Desk and Credenza
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a terrific desk and credenza. The desk and credenza have been owned by me for the past 25 years. I have luckily always had sufficient space in my various offices to accommodate these pieces. However. My office recently moved, and my space is no longer large enough for these pieces. The desk measures 9'3" long and has a built-in conference end. It is 34" wide at the narrow end. And 47" wide on the conference end. There are 2 pencil drawers. The credenza is 9' long and 24" wide. It has locking drawers and a built-in refrigerator that's big enough for 12-18 beers or equivalent. The desk and credenza are covered with mahogany veneer. Both pieces are in excellent shape with 2 minor exceptions: the plastic lid to the refrigerator is repaired(it is not visible as it is in a drawer) ... moreand there is small veneer damage at the base of one desk leg which can be repaired or painted to match. If there is a drawback. It's the fact that there are no pre-drilled holes in the desktop for computer cables. In today's wireless/iPad world, maybe that's better anyways. The set was listed at $9.000 back in 1990 when I acquired it. Buyer must pick up or arrange moving. The desk is light weight. But the credenza is fairly heavy due to the refrigerator. The credenza drawers can be removed to reduce the weight.
