Rare 18thC Mennecy Porcelain Chinoiserie Scene Scenic Knife Porzellan Messer
For sale is a very rare large knife with the handle made by Mennecy around 1740. It is made of a creamy colored soft paste with a colorful Chinoiserie design. The blade is steel which is marked as shown. The knife is amazingly complete with the blade which isn't that common and the porcelain has no damage but there is a bit of wear to the design which is normal on soft paste porcelain like this. The blade has a bit of oxidation to it as shown and the silver collar has some minor dings. The piece that sticks out at the end of the handle has bent over as shown. The porcelain is unmarked which is the norm. The knife is 10.375 inches long of which the visible porcelain handle is about 3.625 inches. One of those fantasy Oriental scenes that Mason created in the early-mid 19th century. This time with lots of red, royal blue& ochre. Signed in the back with the Mason Seal. Structurally, the porcelain is in excellent condition, not a crack or line or restoration anywhere, as far as I can tell. However, the platter has been used often, and despite glaze loss in some points and scratches only noticeable from very near, the colors are still vibrant. 14 7/8" x 12 1/8" Returns are not accepted.

Imposing piece, top has 4 doors total, double door center, and one single on each end. This top can fit any or all of you china sets, or any great collection of quality smalls. Great lines and proportion top and bottom of the breakfront. Bottom is too busy with drawers! Nice combo of storage and utility. There are 4 doors on the bottom, double center and two sides, matching the top in shape and symetry, each with one shelf inside. Quality interior! All doors on the bottom, Breakfront has breath taking paintings, executed with sense for softness. Wood color is just as soft and rich. Really a show stopper. I believe it to have been made between World War 1 and 2, maybe few years latter, but ... moreno later than 1950's. Size is tremendous but sleek 90" across. 89" height. 17" depth. Condition is good. ANTIQUE ASHWORTH BROS ENGLISH IRONSTONE CHINOISERIE PLATE
This is a fine example of English chinoiserie ironstone plate produced by the Ashworth Bros. in the early to mid-1800's. It bears the back mark of the blue crown; Ashworth Bros. is above the crown with the Hanley banner-crest below. England is printed outside and beneath the banner. There are impressed and stamped numbers and the letter F in addition to the back mark. The center imagery is a Chinese landscape showing prunus trees in bloom. And ladies in traditional attire. There is extensive use of colors in varying shades: blue, red, green, yellow, brown and lustre which enhances the entire decoration. There is some loss of paint along the edges. There is also a feeling of roughness but mainly due to firing flaws. There are no pronounced or distinct chips. For its age, the plate is in excellent to excellent plus condition. Handles and tray handles have interlocked chinese rings with gold highlights. The tureen is 11" tall by 12" wide and undertray 13" x 14" wide. Considering age. I would say in very good condition. Starting with the lid it has very small chip along rim and flat chip near the hole where ladle fits. Undertray has some crazing with three very small nicks along underside rim edge. RARE ANTIQUE DECO GOTHIC CHINOISERIE RED GOLD TORCH DRAGON TORCHIERE LAMP 43"
TRULY. ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE LAMPS WE HAVE EVER COME ACROSS! This is a very special, OLD(1920s at least) cast iron with brass or spelter, large table or floor lamp. The lamp has an overall Gothic design with some French Chinoiserie elements. The color palette is a beautiful red and gold. The raised base is circular with three small cabriole legs. Atop the base is large and tall, French styled, candlestick or torch with flame. This feature towers above two Foo Dogs/Dragons and the light housing is at the top. A large, old, crackled amber glass shade rests on top of the torch. The large bobeche is beautifully crafted and features a series of Fleur de Lis which are fashioned with acanthus leaves. The dragons are seated on the base as well. They face opposite directions so as to guard from all angles. One of the dragons is a beautiful Jade ... moregreen. He is seated upon a raised column or pedestal which has the same bobeche design as the lighted torch. The second dragon is a unique black to midnight blue combination color. He sits directly on top of the base. Both of the Foo Dogs/Dragons have yellow painted eyes and INCREDIBLY ORNATE detailing which is gold gilded. They wear large breast plates and headdresses of gold and their rear legs are accented with acanthus scrolls and floral medallions. Their teeth are bared and their expression is fierce. The jade dragon has a plume tail feature while the black dragon has a more nondescript tail. There are chains attached to both the torch and the pedestal of the jade dragon. These attach to the base. The dragons are bolted to the base as is the torch. There are so many intricate features to this lamp! All of the pieces are thick cast(VERY HEAVY) The base is a thinner metal. The dragons/foo dogs are a heavy, cast material but do not accept a magnet. The bobeches are thick brass(painted) and do not accept magnet either. Mirror alone is 33.5" tall X 23.5" the mirror is beveled and the corners of the reverse glass.Asian design are beveled, as well mirror does have soft age spots. Top has a decorative border design and there are four wooden paw feet. Has an octagonal form and there are two pieces of wood inside, which indicate that there might have been a tray that rested on the wood. The tray is missing. In very good condition. Has the original lock but the key is missing. The lid has hairline cracks on the border. There is a small 1/2 inch chip on the back. The motif is nice and clean. The top decorations show wear. Old Antique Early 1800s Ironstone Plate Imari Style Chinoiserie 19th Century
Antique 19th Century Ironstone Plate. Possibly American or English. England or USA. But it could very well be from another country. I purchased this antique ironstone plate thinking it was Japanese Imari. Because I collect Japanese ceramics, however, I have been told after the fact that it's POSSIBLY English Ironstone. Which is of no interest to me, so I am offering it to bidders on eBay. I have been trying to identify the maker. But thus far have not found any information on this Imari style Ironstone plate. Which may be American or English made, however, that is just a guess based on the opinions of others whom are not experts as well as viewing other examples of Ironstone tableware online, as I truly do not know who the manufacturer was nor where it was made. It is a heavy plate and is hand painted in Imari style colors with a Chinoiserie/ Chinese-esque style of decor of primarily cobalt blue and iron red. gold. Peach and lime green. See photos below. There is no makers mark. Nor country of origin mark. In the center of the back is an impressed X. And near the edge of the rim is a hand painted in iron red marking that appears to be 6 29 x Based on what I know of some porcelain manufacturers date coding systems. My best GUESS is that the marking means June. 1829 by X. This is only an ASSUMPTION and should not be taken as absolute or solid confirmation of its age. I am not an expert in English nor American ceramics. My area of knowledge is primarily in Japanese and Chinese ceramics. Although it's only marked as"Ironstone" in the underside of the platter. This small set bears all the characteristics of a Mason's piece. It's Imari ornamentation is rare because it includes a beautiful turquoise aside from the more traditional red, orange, green and blue. This I can assure: it's a focal point in any kitchen or any other room. However I should also point out that it seems the tureen was repaired at some time in the past, for a part of its interior is flaking, and there's a 2" long crack inside the tureen as well that seems to be a result of the firing( Height: 6" from the bottom of the platter to the finial of the tureen- width: 7 1/2" from handle to handle and 8 3/4" for the platter- depth: 5 1/2" for the tureen and 6 1/2" for the platter. Fantastic. Once-in-a-lifetime antique runner and placemat set- dragons in Point de Venise lace! These are circa 1920. Created at the height of the Chinoiserie revival. Likely made in China itself, in beautiful mission-taught Italian lace. A rare and spectacular fusion of East and West. The table runner measures 17 x 37 inches. The six placemats each measure 12.5 x 17 inches. Color is creamy white. Not perfect. But still in very good condition. These have not been laundered, and there are some stains(see 2nd last photo for some, but not all) I note some small openings in the edge lace(3rd last photo) and one or two detached connectors. There is one placemat where the top section of lace has been re-attached(see last two photos) Not very noticeable- these look great! This set is so amazing. This is a very fine silver and enamel box made in the reign of King George I circa 1720. The lid of the box has finely chased Chinoiserie decoration and the box has a hand painted enamel panel to the centre with cherubs holding flowers/ one taking a bunch of flowers out of a vase. The box has reeded sides and the base of the box is enamel. The underside of the box has hand painted enamel panels. One with a hunting dog chasing a duck, one with a dog chasing a rabbit. There are squirrels at both ends and four blue framed panels with red lattice and blue dots. The lid of the box is hinged and the inside of the box has a superb beetle to the base and an oval panel to the inside of ... morethe lid with winged cherubs flying above the clouds with a long horn and an animal on his hand. The box is 2-3/4 inches/ 70 mm wide and 1-3/4 inches/ 45 mm deep. It stands 1-1/8 inches/ 28 mm high and weighs 73 grams. I don't think the mirror has the orginal backing and don't know if it has the original mirror. If you do some research it looks like they had a cloth backing over the wood. It does have the wire on the back for hanging.There are some small areas that are marked up but overall the mirror is in nice condition for its age.There are 2 metal brackets on the wood frame which you can see in the pictures of the back of the mirror. A Pair of Beautiful, Antique c 1730 Dutch, Leather Paneled, Cabinets Chinoiserie
A pair of lacquered. Hardwood cabinets that were made especially for housing these incredible leather panels. They were removed from the leather upholstered walls of a Dutch nature traders study/library in Amsterdam. They are decorated in a Chinoiserie motif. They were made circa 1730. I purchased these cabinets from an antiques and decorative arts dealer on Sacramento St. in the Presidio Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. The measurements are: 42” Wide X 26” Deep X 34” Tall They are painted and lacquered Chinese Red inside. We moved from Presidio Heights to London to Florence then back to the Bay Area. I paid $8.000 each for them in the mid-90’s.
