The interior with shelves, on a plinth This cabinet has unusual proportions. It may have formed part of a set of matching furniture to fit an architectural setting or indeed from a railway dining car or a liner. However the latter two possibilities are unlikely as generally there are indications of further components to secure and protect the contents during travel. She's about 100 years old. Beautifully carved oak, and had to owned by the richest of the rich in that time period. Most of these cabinets were not carved as much and were 36" to 40" wide. This ones is 5'4" wide, she stands 5'8" tall, and 18" deep. She's all original with the exception of the glass inside shelves that were custom made. I bought this and redid it because the door was not going to work. So I refinished it into a cabinet/shelf unit for a kids/baby room. It is a baby blue trimmed in white Annie Sloan designer chalk paint. I finished it with her dark wax to give it a distressed old look. The back of the piece is finished with a nursery rhyme fabric.base color is yellow. The sides are a polka dot. The shelves have a engraved line so you can display plates in it as well. A very nice antique. Circa 1900, solid mahogany case, with mahogany stripped veneers on sides and door, 46" china cabinet on four bun feet. The interior top has a plain glass mirror, three mahogany stained beveled edge shelves with underside cup hooks. The back panels are also mahogany stained maple. Includes the lock and brass key. Cabinet measures 5'3" 63" tall by 3'10" 46" wide by 16" deep, the plate grooved shelves 14-1/2" deep. Very good plus condition: mahogany solids and veneers without chips or cracks, original unworn finish. All glass panels and mirror are original and without damage. The top vertical board at front of the cabinet originally had a crest, now missing.
