There are no markings to indicate its brand or age, although the hinges may be mid century or earlier. As well as the carved wood feet and side handles. A clear lucite handle on the front for lifting the lid. The cedar does not smell much. It presents the story of the History of Red Cedar from the time of Solomon's Temple to the Egyptians, Roman's and on to North Carolina and the beginning of Cedar Chests in Colonial Days. The last few pages then go over why Piedmont Red Cedar Chests are the best and how they would be a perfect gift. On the inside 1st page it has the copyright date of 1913. This is in excellent condition for it's age with no tears. Marks or damage of any kind. I found these in my Grandmother's Cousins box of things my mom inherited years ago. This miniature Lane Company chest was originally used as a floor sample for salesmen of the Lane Company's chests. Though the majority of the larger chests were made from Walnut. Maple, and Mahogany, these small sample chests were made almost exclusively out of Cedar. This small chest measures 3 1/2 inches high. Is 9 inches long, and is 5 inches front to back. It weighs 17 ounces. OK condition. It has a few scrapes or scars on the finish it opens and shuts solidly and easily. This box does not have the key.

This is a very nice Lane Cedar chest from the 1930s possibly 40s. It is all original and is art deco period. It has a rounded top with waterfall desighn. And has matching book end design. The exterior wood is tiger maple i believe, though i have seen others listed as blonde mahogony in classic heringbone design.so not 100% sure. The manufacterers label says 70% cedar. Has original finish with original lock with Lane logos, easures 46" wide- 19" front to back and is 23" tall. See pictures for more info and condition. Some ware and scuffs consistant with an older piece. be sure to see picture of top with deep 4" scratch. A good polishing would go along way to bringing back this chest.
