From the materials used to the production values themselves. Everything about this bookcase is of the utmost quality. The flame mahogany, for instance, displays a remarkably rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to look great in any setting. Complementing the exquisite wood is not only the fine, stained interior, but also the solid brass, winged escutcheons, all of which house functioning locks. The astragal glass itself is quite elegant, providing a classic appearance and a clear, beautifully framed view into the interior of the bookcase. Each section of glass on every door is an individual pane of glass. Shaped bracket feet provide sturdy support, while all shelves are fully adjustable. The bookcase of course disassembles into several pieces: the top moulding, the center upper section, the left and right upper sections, and the base. This is also how the bookcase will ship. Each shelf has a depth of 14.5″ and is adjustable by means of a wooden alligator bracket system. If you are unfamiliar with this system we have included a picture of it. The astragal glazed doors at the top all lock. And each section of glass is an individual pane. This combined with the dovetailed drawers shows the high level of quality that went into the creation of this lovely bookcase. Originally made around 1960, the bookcase remains in very good condition today with minor wear around the feet and step back where the lower cabinet meets the upper cabinet. The wooden shelves in the upper cabinet are adjustable with a brass pigeon hole system. The entire bookcase comes apart into two pieces(top and bottom) to make it easier to move. The shelf depth in the upper cabinet is 10.75" Each drawer has a brass swan neck drop pull and opens and closes very easily. Finally, the top is finished off with a dentil moulded cornice. Antique Arts n Crafts Mission Mahogany Stacking Bookcase Bottom Section Base
I will combine shipping on multiple purchases whenever possible. Here is a base for an antique stacking bookcase. I do not know who made it. And I think it is mahogany, but it is possible it is maple with a mahogany stain. It measures 34-3/8 inches long, 11-1/2 inches deep, and is 7 inches tall. It has a very dark finish, as you can see in the photos, and there is some glue residue dripping down the inside of the legs. Please see the photos for a more accurate description of the condition. If you put the top pieces on the bottom pieces, each unit will measure 79" tall x 48" wide x 22" deep The bottom pieces are a couple of inches deeper then the top pieces. There is 1 middle piece. Rare Architectural Antique Bookcase with Beveled Glass & Deep Drawers
This is a rare piece we collected years ago from Architectural Antiques. It features a beveled glass wood framed door(19.5"w 63.5"h) with the original key. There are 5 interior shelves measuring 22" wide and 13.75" deep allowing you to showcase both books and collectables. The spacing between the shelves is 12" high with the exception of the top-most shelf which allows for 15" items. On the right are 5 drawers measuring 10" wide by 11.5" high by 14" deep; each with original hardware. Layers of crown molding adorn the top(extending 4" on each side) and paneled sections line the sides. This piece is extremely heavy and mimics primitive pieces yet includes the more intricate features of the glass and molding making it a most versitale accessory. Thanks for taking the time to view our posting. We are proud to offer for your consideration this unique antique five stack lawyers bookcase. A great piece of furniture from ca. 1930's- 1950's and perfect as a display for books or other small collectibles! Solid wood cabinet sections and shelves in a dark stain. I think the wood is mahogany but it could also be walnut? In any case. A beautiful dark color. The five stacks/sections come apart and the top/cap and the base are separate pieces so technically it breaks down into seven pieces. Thick. Original beveled glass in all five sections(sorry, the bevel doesn't show well in my pics but it's there) All original metal(probably brass) knobs in a dark. Bronze like finish. All five lift up doors work smoothly. Solid. Sturdy construction. Nice curved detail on apron beneath top. ... moreUnlike most lawyers bookcases. This one has a large lower section that adds great character! The piece is in very good condition with only age appropriate wear.on the upper section in my pics. On one side, there are two scratches. These are shallow but they do show. They could easily be restrained to match the finish and would not be noticeable all but I have left it as I bought it. Also. On the tip of the right hand upper casing, there is some minor wear where the finish has been rubbed off but this could also be re-stained pretty easily. The backs of each section and the top of the cap piece are a thinner wood. Veneer like. The wood on the top of the cap is slightly warped but still intact.when put together. The piece is so tall that you don't see the top at all and it obviously is sturdy enough to hold a bit of weight as you can see in my pics that I keep multiple pieces on display there. Assembled. Measures 68.5" high and 32.5" wide and 19.25" deep. Each of the four top sections/stacks separately measures 13.75" high. 13.25" deep and 32.5" wide.
