Made in England, Circa 1960, Mahogany, All doors lock with key, Dovetailed drawers, Adjustable upper shelves, Satinwood string inlay, Minor wear to step back and feet, Sturdy. Good overall condition, This four door mahogany breakfront bookcase comes from England. The mahogany is accented with subtle satinwood string inlays on the lower doors and drawers. The astragal glazed doors at the top all lock. And each section of glass is an individual pane. This combined with the dovetailed drawers shows the high level of quality that went into the creation of this lovely bookcase. Originally made around 1960, the bookcase remains in very good condition today with minor wear around the feet and step back where the lower cabinet meets the upper cabinet. The wooden shelves in the upper cabinet are adjustable with a brass pigeon hole system. The entire bookcase comes apart into two pieces(top and bottom) to make it easier to move. The shelf depth in the upper cabinet is 10.75" Each drawer has a brass swan neck drop pull and opens and closes very easily. Finally, the top is finished off with a dentil moulded cornice. This wonderful bookcase is very sturdy and would make a beautiful addition to any home or office! As you can see there is a large amount of storage and display space. The shelves are adjusted with a brass pigeon hole system. The lower cabinet doors display a gorgeous flame mahogany grain. These are the pulls on the drawers. Each drawer is also constructed with dovetailed joints. A sign of quality craftsmanship. This close up of the step back shows some of the minor wear you will find in that area. For your consideration, this fabulous and very impressive Tall Victorian Rococo Flame Mahogany Secretary with Arched Bookcase ... moreTop(Circa: 1860) This gorgeous two-piece Secretary weighs approximately 170 pounds and measures 102 ½” in total height(from the floor to the arched top of the crown) 44 ¼” in width, and 20 ½” in depth. The three adjustable shelves each measure 9” in depth and 41 ¼” in width. This is truly one of the most beautiful Victorian Secretaries of its kind that we have had the privilege to offer. You will notice that there is some faint writing on the back of the piece(see the e-Bay photo) that probably indicates either the maker or the person for whom the piece was made. From what we can see it is signed M. Hall, Hannibal, MO. The details on this Secretary are absolutely wonderful! This beautiful Secretary is constructed of mahogany. And flame mahogany over a secondary wood and the details are exquisite! The bookcase top is graced with a beautiful open arch top with a lovely center foliate carved pedestal that is surrounded on each side with elegant applied scroll land leaf adornments. The bookcase top doors have wavy glass that appears to be original. And three adjustable shelves. The doors have arched tops with picture frame moulding around the original glass and carved foliate escutcheons. Vintage bookcase nightstand homemade medium tone wood
Sturdy little bookcase or nightstand has the appearance of quality hand crafting from back in the day. We're unsure of the age or who the maker was on this piece. It stands 30 1/4 inches tall and is 11 3/4 inches deep by 18 inches across. The second shelf is 14 inches above the second shelf. The back was crafted from two separate boards and you can see daylight through the cracks between the boards. This piece is old. And has stains, nicks, cuts, scratches and general wear from years of use and abuse, but has held up admirably well. It could use a bit of love. Handsome 3 section Globe Wernicke barrister stacking bookcase. Everything works. It comes apart in 5 pieces: 3 center section. The top and legs. Easily fits in a small car. Clean, vintage condition and ready for use. The top has a couple of small rings, but nothing outstanding because it was toned down with cleaners and wax. I will add the picture before the auction ends, but it’s really nothing unusual. Measures 34 1/4” wide X 11 3/4” deep X 53” high. The top section will hold books up to 11” high. The remaining lower sections are taller and will accommodate books up to 12 3/4” high. The model number is 811. If you own other sections and wish to add to these they need to be the same number. I have 2 other Globe sections with top,model 711, but it’s about 1/4” to short. These are for PICK UP ONLY. Also, each door has beveled glass which I have not seen before. Each door has all straps, hardware, and inside door mecahnisims. Doors open easily. Missing one knob. Beautiful. Local pick up.
