The look of the unit to me looks kinda like Art Deco but also looks kinda like a Mid Centrury Modern piece. So YOU be the Judge. This I can say, it's a very well made piece and in good overall condition. It has Solid Mahogany sides, shelves and back-splash, only the back panel is a veneer. It hasn't any burn marks, water marks(circles) on the shelves. It has some very pretty Mahogany wood grains showing on both the shelves and sides. Here we have a wonderful antique wooden bookcase cabinet or cupboard in good used antique vintage condition. Has two doors that will lock. One door has two little push latches one on top and one on bottom. The other door has a lock with a skeleton key hole. I do not have a key to the lock. This was found at an estate sale in Palm Beach and it did not have the key. You will have to find the right key. This is just the most adorable cabinet I have ever seen. They've made recent reproductions of this shelf but I believe this is one of the good old originals. It is very well made and in very good condition. Some minor scuffs here and there but nothing serious. Overall measurement is: 27-3/4" wide by 28-3/4" tall. Shelves are 12-1/2" deep and so are the sides. Antique bookcase with two glass doors and adjustible shelves from early 20th cen
I am selling an solid wood antique book case with carved claw feet. It was my grandmother's and was given to me when she passed away. I love this bookcase but I have no where to keep it and it has been sitting in storage since it was given to me. It is probably mahogany but maybe walnut. It is has two glass doors and locks. I should have the key. It has cast iron spoon shaped shelf pins which from what I have researched are from the early 1900's. There is a ding on the outside of the right door which is visible in the pictures and it is missing the door pull but is in good condition given its age. It would look absolutely stunning if refinished. It has beautiful carved details both on the doors and on the feet. Really a very lovely piece. Bookcase was purchased from antique warehouse in Atlanta when we were furnishing Victorian home. Selling now because our tastes have changed to more contemporary. Obviously not in perfect condition. Fine quality piece. Measures 72 inches wide x 54 inches high x 16 inches deep. The gothic revival begins in earnest in 1837 with the publication in London of Pugin's Contrasts. But this gothic revival bookcase with glazed doors must date towards the 4th quarter of the 19th century. It seems well constructed and an attractive piece of furniture that would prove useful and harmonic in almost any home decor. This bookcase has wear commensurate with its age.
