The top is item#11-9224 ... morein the#225 finish and the bottom is item#11-9223 in the#225 finish. The secretary can be found on page#131 in the 80th edition of the Ethan Allen Treasury of American Traditional Interiors. Ethan Allen describes their Georgian Court line as having. Intricate details crafted by skilled aritsans in fine cabinet woods such as solid Cherry and carefully selected veneers. Georgian Court accents offer pure traditional styling of exceptional beauty and value to provide lasting delight and satisfaction to all who want to enhance their own homes with the graceful designs of our great heritage. The secretary top measures 36" wide x 46" high x 10" deep and features beveled glass doors as well as two adjustable cherry wood shelves that are grooved for china display. The back is selected veneer. The top has gorgeous carving and a pretty finial. The secretary base measures 36.5" wide x 41" high x 19" deep and features five drawers and a drop front with lock with key. There are cubbies inside the desk base as well as two drawers. The drawers are very clean inside. This secretary was manufactured in January. 1980 and is in excellent condition overall with a few exceptions. There are light dings and one more noticeable ding on the front of the secretary where it drops down(see pics#10, 11) There are also a few tiny chips low on the front two feet and one chip on the very back side of the secretary top. It is not very noticeable when it is against the wall, unless you are looking at the back(see pic#12) The Ethan Allen name is stamped in the top drawer and the date as well as the item number are stamped on the back. Ethan Allen manufactures high quality investment grade furniture that can be passed down through generations. Made in England, Circa 1960, Mahogany, All doors lock with key, Dovetailed drawers, Adjustable upper shelves, Satinwood string inlay, Minor wear to step back and feet, Sturdy. Good overall condition, This four door mahogany breakfront bookcase comes from England. The mahogany is accented with subtle satinwood string inlays on the lower doors and drawers. The astragal glazed doors at the top all lock. And each section of glass is an individual pane. This combined with the dovetailed drawers shows the high level of quality that went into the creation of this lovely bookcase. Originally made around 1960, the bookcase remains in very good condition today with minor wear around the feet and step back where the lower cabinet meets the upper cabinet. The wooden shelves in the upper cabinet are adjustable with a brass pigeon hole system. The entire bookcase comes apart into two pieces(top and bottom) to make it easier to move. The shelf depth in the upper cabinet is 10.75" Each drawer has a brass swan neck drop pull and opens and closes very easily. Finally, the top is finished off with a dentil moulded cornice. This wonderful bookcase is very sturdy and would make a beautiful addition to any home or office! As you can see there is a large amount of storage and display space. The shelves are adjusted with a brass pigeon hole system. The lower cabinet doors display a gorgeous flame mahogany grain. These are the pulls on the drawers. Each drawer is also constructed with dovetailed joints. A sign of quality craftsmanship. This close up of the step back shows some of the minor wear you will find in that area. The three adjustable shelves each measure 9” in depth and 41 ¼” in width. This is truly one of the most beautiful Victorian Secretaries of its kind that we have had the privilege to offer. You will notice that there is some faint writing on the back of the piece(see the e-Bay photo) that probably indicates either the maker or the person for whom the piece was made. From what we can see it is signed M. Hall, Hannibal, MO. The details on this Secretary are absolutely wonderful! This beautiful Secretary is constructed of mahogany. This is a large 4-stack barrister bookcase. It has a removable top and sits on a removable base. Each of the 4 stack units can come completely apart. So exercise care when transporting or moving. It was reported that the manufacturer made the units to completely break down for easy flat shipping purposes. Please note the Mother Of Pearl knobs on most of the glass doors. Each front glass assembly works smoothly when opening and closing. One of the stacks is much larger than the others. This is an early piece. Up for auction is an Original Globe Wernicke Barrister Bookcase door with knob. Original scissor door mechanism, original door tracts, and original door roller assembly. Everything listed was off of a Globe Wernicke Sectional Bookcase C-11 Unit; Pattern 111- Grade 198. According to the Globe-Wernicke USA website the grade of 198 is a plain oak with an antique, medium-dark gloss finish with copper oxidized hardware. The glass appears to be original as it is wavy with air bubbles/flaws. There are two small scratches in the front right corner glass which can be seen in the photographs. This is one section of a barrister's bookcase which dates from the late 19th century or early 20th. It came along as an unsuitable addition to a barrister's bookcase that I bought for myself. And since it did not actually fit that bookcase I naturally separated it, and now have no use for it. So it's offered here starting low and with no reserve, cause it's just taking up space and I want it out of here. Note that this is a pickup only item, since it would be a lot of work to ship it for not much money. The bookcase is 30" wide by 16" deep. The piece is made of Walnut with Burled trim. The Cathedral style front glass panels are original to the piece as well I believe. This piece has been in my parents home for the last 60 to 70 years. The piece dates back to the 1860's/70's. It is in very nice used condition. Art Deco Two-Door Shield Shaped Bookcase
I have had this stylish art deco bookcase in my bedroom for about 40 years and loved it. But my home is Victorian and I'm finally getting around to unifying the furniture to pre-1900 pieces. It's a little over 4 feet tall, similar in width and quite sturdy; I used it to hold heavy music scores and reference books and it was easily able to accommodate them, in spite of its graceful, somewhat delicate appearance. The shield profile is very elegant and the curved dividers in the glass doors are so unusual and attractive. I know the piece deserves a more prominent place than the one where I used it(tucked alongside a piano where almost no one ever saw it) The wood veneer is excellent quality, but there are some small chips to mention, all really in the lower right region. I don't believe they would be difficult repair. One of the ... morepanes of glass also has a missing piece. The bookcase had these blemishes when it was purchased in the late 1960s and I never got around to fixing them; they never bothered me enough, I guess. If you are the winning bidder. Up for auction are these( 4) vintage original scissors- equalizers- dual rods for Hale bookcases and Globe Wernicke bookcases. The bookcases shown are Hale and Globe Wernicke. The first bookcase shown is a Hale case and this is stock number 813 Book Sec. Finish 3025 1/2. The 2nd case shown is a Globe Wernicke Catalog Number 813 and has a Finish 4098 1/2. The measurements on all four is the same and they measure: X brackets or arms measure 18 1/4" long and the side rods are 11 3/4" long. One of these is stamped on the rivets: WK Co. I tried to take a picture of this but I just couldn't ... morepick up the detailing. The ones on the bookcases are the exact same size as the four pictured. All of these are made of steel and the color on all four is black. If you are looking for extra pieces to complete your bookcases. Here they are. By the research I've done these will fit other grades of Hale and Globe Wernicke bookcases and I believe these to be for later models. Please measure yours so you will have the proper fit. The condition is good. They have some scratches and two of them have some very minor surface rust and this is truly minor. You can always sand them down and repaint them.
