He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of a quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. It has a dentil style cornice top with line carved sides edges and shelf fronts. There are 4 good sized shelves(inc base) and 3 shelves are height adjustable. The base has 4 deep filing drawers that are dovetailed. Solid and run freely on metal runners and have metal rails for suspension files(included are some fairly new suspension files) The drawers have beaded edges and metal swan neck style handles. The filing cabinet stands on a plinth style base. The mahogany veneer has a nice rich colouration/grain and it is in excellent condition. Original Oak Arts& Crafts/ Mission Barrister Stacking Lawyer Bookcase Top by Macey(like Globe. Ogee, etc. This is an original Macey bookcase top. This is from the quartersawn oak models(many of them had claw-footed bases and vertical veneer drawers) Very hard to find item. As you can see in photos. The label has worn off some, but you can still make out the Macey name. I am not sure what letter size this is, but the dimensions seem to correspond with size D. Overall measures approx: 34" long x 15" deep x 3 2/16" high Underside frame that fits onto the case measures approx: 34" long x 14" deep As shown in photos. This is in used condition and shows wear. The front profile looks very good for its age and should blend very well with well kept bookcases. The top veneer shows more wear than the front with discoloration, ... morenicks and scratches and some splits, but if this is an issue, you could rejuvenate it with stain and oil/ shellac/ polyurethane. If you want a uniform look, you could lightly sand the entire surface and then add stain, plus sealant. However, because this is the top of a bookshelf you will likely rest items on it to cover imperfections, or it will be so high up that no one will see it. The rest of the top looks to be in normal used condition for its age. Some nails have pushed out and may need to be gently hammered back in place(though I think I got all of them) Please examine close ups of all photos and ask all questions. Questions? Remember. Here is a fine very late 19th century mostly solid walnut and very tall at 8 and 1/2 feet bookcase. I love the simple architectural features of the carved arches over each glass door which combines the look of solid walnut and It would be fantastic in a library setting or even as a display cabinet as working locksets are being replaced as I write this so both doors will easily lock. It is perfect for the room a the top of a narrow stairwell as it dismantles and sets up very easily. The base with the two drawers is the first level to set up. This base section retains the original porcelain castors. Each of the side panels is screwed to a rear panel. It is easiest to handle these steps like this. Add one side and then the other. Then the center piece for the shelves slips in. Add the shelves and the front center piece to Which each of the doors ... morewill lock. Add the crown and then it is time to hang the doors. VTG Industrial Metal Stacking Lawyers Bookcase Mid Century Modern Silver w/ Base
This is an original Mid Century Modern 3 shelve Metal Bookcase. It was stripped and re-finished to reveal the silver. It does have some"rust" marks that can be buffed out. It is also missing one knob. The glass is good with no scratches etc. There are no dents. The pieces come apart easily and it fits together well. I will add measurements later. Thanks!
