The bottom part of the padlock latch is attached to a modified strap hinge. The paint is chipped and chipping. There is an oil stain around the hinge of the padlock latch, someone penciled a circle on the lid*under* the handle- so the circle, apparently, is from before the handle was added.and that handle has been attached for a long time! Inside there is a tray with a hole cut out of it to accommodate some unknown tool of yester-year. The tray must have been made from an old crate as the word"GLASS" can still be seen stenciled on one board. On the outside. Below the lid, there is a thin notch, one can only wonder what function that notch was cut for. The often missing handles on the side are firmly attached with antique wood screws. Measures: 31. 15/16 inches wide- 9, 3/8 inches deep and 10, 1/2 inches tall. This box is sturdy with no loose screws. Inside the shelf is dirty, there are water stains on the bottom and inside. OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL AS FOUND AMERICAN FOLK ART PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH PAINTED BLANKET CHEST FRONT DATED 1849This is one of the best all original painted Pennsylvania Dutch blanket chests I have seen. It was found in Pennsylvania and salvaged from a destroyed blanket chest. The colors are fantastic. The background is a blue green and on each end there are painted lilies in orange/red with the same design in the center. They may be tulips but I am not sure. There are two framed panels with moldings around the perimeter(some of the molding is chipped) These have a goldenrod colored background and several plants and two flower pots all in several colors of green. Red, orange, etc. There is NO OVERPAINTING at all on this complete panel. This chest front contains a metal lock plate as well as the complete lock on the back side. The front is dated 1849(which has faded a lot but can still be read) This is an unbelievably rare painted panel piece of the Pennsylvania Dutch. The ends still retain the dovetail cuts with the right side still having the cutoff pieces of the side which could be poked out and removed. The back side is unpainted and made of two pine boards, The size is 7/8" x 19 3/4" x 56" Please look at all the photos carefully to asses the condition. Stephen Von Hohen Folk Art Painted Pine Blanket Chest Turtle Doves
This is a beautiful folk art painted blanket chest by Stephen Von Hohen. It features a pair of turtle doves. Traditional symbols of both peace and love, with flowers of life above their heads and one heart shared between. The chest measures 14.25" x 32.5" x 27" and is in excellent pre-owned condition. I tried to take pictures in different lights, but none of the pictures quite catches the luster of both the wood and the painting. It is truly a beautiful piece. Please contact me with any questions.

And its 23 inch high, made with side uprights i think would have had rope handles in its day, a little bit larger than the usual size chest, the planks have a thin space between them all round, though they are held in place and will never move, due to the upright side parts, there are old marks on the top as youd expect with its age, looks like some drawing lines too, please contact for delivery or self collect, hinges have been put on, and a chain to stop the lid going too far back, its been waxed, but could do with a good buff, a heavy old box

1800s Blanket/Hope Chest "Dovetail Construction"
This is an exceptional piece of Early American Furniture. And is in very good condition for its age, 1800's) would be a best guess. All I did is give it a rub down with Lemon Oil which really brought out the natural graining in the wood. It does have a few small drops of green color paint on the top and small scratches which would easily come off with a light sanding but I did not want to do anything to the original finish. The top, front and two sides are all made from a single piece of lumber which appears to be Chestnut. The back and bottom are both made from two planks of what appears to be Cedar. I have this listed as local pick-up only but let me know if you need it shipped and you can arrange for a trucking company to pick it up. I am selling this Cedar Hope Chest for a friend. I have included many photos for you to view as those are worth a thousand words. The Cedar Hope Chest in this auction is in very good used condition and is very sturdy. As with any vintage used furniture. It has some light scratches but nothing major. No cracks or chips. Some of the varnish has come off of the top so it will need to be re-varnished on the top only. See photos 2, 4. The inside is very clean. There is a key for the lock inside an envelop in the chest as shown in photo, 5 and 6. The lock works very well. Please view pictures as I have included pictures of the front. Back and sides. Lane Antique Vintage Art Deco Cedar Hope Blanket Chest
Original antique/vintage art deco Lane Cedar Chest. This has been in our family since 1947. It is Style# 2120. Serial# 641260. According to the Lane website, date of manufacture is coded in the serial# just reverse the numbers. So this chest was manufactured on 06/21/46. It measures approximately 48" long x 18" wide x 18" high. I have included several pictures so you can see the overall condition. There are a lot of light scratches on the lid(nothing deep) and a few more on the front and sides. There are also several small patches where the veneer has come off on the edges and one section where one of my children drew a couple of small pictures. I am not an expert on restoration. But I would think that these veneer sections could be repaired. The interior is in very good condition- no chips or scratches anywhere on the cedar ... moreplanks and the felt is intact and complete. The lid opens smoothly and closes completely. The legs are solid and are also intact. At one point. The Lane Company did issue a recall on the locks/latches of these chests so the lock will be removed. They are offering free lock replacement kits that can be acquired by calling their toll-free number. Considering this chest is close to 70 years old. And all of the moves it has gone through, it is in overall solid, good condition with a lot of use left in it. All sales are final. So please ask any questions before bidding. Wuzzies Blanket Chest" with a Boyd's item no. 654890. It was introduced to the Boyds Bears Collection in Fall 1997. Retired in 2000. Cute for display, also works with Barbie-size dolls. SIZE: 3-3/4" high x 6-3/4" long x 4" wide The chest is all wood with ball feet and metal hinges. Dark green paint with a fan or scallop design like antique painted furniture. Antique 19th century Korean Blanket Chest
For your consideration. We are offering an Early. Antique, Korean blanket chest in original finish, circa 1800-1900. It measures 34 inches wide x 30 inches high x 17 inches deep. The inside of the chest is very clean. The lock itself is beautiful and has old writing on it. Note that the hasp part is missing so it does not actually lock. This chest has a bit of the metal ornamentation missing on the bottom center. There are some small tacks overall that are missing. And a slit on the plank of the top of the chest. There are marks on the top and general wear, overall, all of which is consistent with the age of this piece. It has flowers punched in the metal and is one of the nicer chests I’ve owned. 1950's LANE CEDAR CHEST Mid Century Modern style hope/blanket chest- Mfg date 11/30/1956 Near perfect condition. No scratches. Broken corners, chunks of wood missing, pieces glued, painted over finish"fixes" or anything that would detract from its look or value. However, since it is a vintage piece of furniture. If you look really hard and are overly discriminating, you probably can find a flaw or two. So I say that it is"near" perfect, not"absolutely" perfect. There is nothing that would make you say"Oh poop! after you purchase it. The only thing that I note is that two of the wood risers on the bottom side have been removed so the chest can roll up flush to rises in a floor. Yes it has wheels. If somebody wanted to put these back on. Why I do not know, it could easily be done by even the least crafty ... morecraftsman and be completely undetectable as they are on the bottom of the chest facing the floor and the wood is unfinished. No tricky color matching or wood crafting needed. Inside a foldaway shelf automatically rises as the lid opens and the original felt is still perfect. The chest is marked at the bottom Style#7041-29. Serial# 650311 The outside has a beautiful blonde finish. Chest is in excellent-perfect vintage condition. Due to safety regulations the chest has had all or part of the lock latch mechanism removed so that the chest cannot latch with a child trapped inside. This is a charming custom. Hand made, hand painted, folk art, blanket, hope, storage chest, with matching stool. The artist hand painted and signed the chest, with a copyright symbol, 1980 Saugestad, This would be perfect for an older child or young adult, usually female, but would make excellent storage for any person that liked the design. It originally came with a sliding tray or drawer, that is missing. The tray or drawer, would sit next to the stool when placed inside the chest. It would not be difficult to find something else that would work. The space for the tray measures 14 1/4" long x 10 1/2" wide, x 2 1/2-3" tall, possibly taller because of the slanted sides on the lid, and would make a great place to keep a jewelry box or keepsake tray. Antique India Folk Art Wood Blanket Chest / Marriage Box Trunk Hand Painted
Hi. For sale an antique wood/ chest(circa 1800s/ early 1900) marriage box/ blanket chest. I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There are hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side has a darker ... morepatina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. It is a very beautiful piece whatever its origin is and the paint job is intricate and looks like it was very time consuming. Please email with any questions I will be glad to help. This is an original blanket chest from the Amish country of Berks County Pennsylvania. I got it from an old man who was breaking up his home and down sizing. He said it belonged to his grandmother and he was in his 70's. It is in great condition with crackle paint. Quarter round around the lid. The lid hinges are perfect, the drawers tight and clean. It is 41 inches tall. 20 inches wide, 43 inches long. The drawers are 6 3/4" tall and 8" tall by 17" wide by 39" long. The blanket space is 15" deep, 17" wide and 39" long.

Miniature Cherry Blanket Chest, box,with Till, Hand Dovetailed, Original Finish
You are bidding on a small chest or miniature blanket chest. Proportionally made just like the full size versions. It is made of Cherry wood. Which is rare. It is hand dovetailed, has brass hinges, and small brass screws. It has a brass key hole cover, nailed on with small brass nails. The base has its original glue blocks, and all visable nails are square, as they should be for something of this period. I bought this years ago off ebay from one of the best known sellers of smalls and boxes.the turbod. from York Pa. He believed it to be 18th century, but I think it is from the 1870's, or thereabouts. It may have its original finish, as I cannot find evidence of refinishing, I am not sure about this. I do not see any finish drips or stains on the box, anyplace. The finish looks correct for the period. It retains its original bracket feet, ... morehas an operational till, and a spot for a secret compartment below the till. Inside is clean, and this has been well cared for over time. The top has some scuffs, and stains.look closely at the pics. It has its original lock and keeper, but no key. Dates to 1820s-1840s, originally a piece of painted furniture, looking at the front sideways you can see a floral design under the finish, the current finish was probably added in the early 1900s, we had a professional look at it, it is 6 board construction, there is no key for the lock, local pick up only or buyer to arrange shipping. overall measurements. 24 1/2 inches tall. 22 inches deep. 72 inches long. The chest measures a bit smaller under the lid. 17 inches tall, 69 inches long, and 21 1/4 inche deep.

This is a nice antique painted pine possibly American blanket/ hope chest dated 1835 initialed S.E.G. In pretty nice shape as the pics show with floral decoration throughout and the top is faded pretty good and it comes exactly as shown. It has an interesting locking mechanism that actually widens and shuts at the top but it is no longer installed but comes with the piece and the entire piece is dovetailed like that shown and the back is all hand hewn.
