Antique Whiting 3-Piece Sterling Silver Dresser/Vanity Mirror/Brush/Comb Set Fresh from a local estate comes this wonderful Whiting three piece sterling silver dresser set as pictured. The mirror measures 13 in long by 4.5 in wide. Brush 10 in long by 3 in wide and the comb is 7.75 in long. They show expected light scratch wear and a few small dings but for the most part all three pieces are in excellent condition. The mirrored surface is near perfect with no loss. There are no monograms and each piece is hallmarked as pictured. The set as a whole weighs just over 1 lb. View the pictures carefully as they are just as much part of the description. Vintage Mirror and Comb Set Please Note: Both myself and one other person have looked these pieces over with a magnifying glass. Neither one of saw a stamp or a brand name anywhere on either piece. I did take them to a coin/gold/silver dealer in town. And he did the magnet test. Both pieces are magnetic, which means they are not pure silver. His words were: These may have some silver content, but they are magnetic, so they definitely are not pure.925 or.999 silver. But they sure are neat! I tend to agree. I can tell they are old, and they are heavy(in comparison to a'regular' mirror and comb) Please see picture of both items on my scale. Having said that. I cannot and will not guarantee metal content or purity for this item. I simply don't know what it is. Mirror Measures Approximately 9.5" Long From Tip-Tip. The Round Portion ... moreof the Mirror. The Lid has English Sterling Silver Hallmarks for Birmingham. 1901(see photos) The Maker's Mark appears to be'HM' see photos) The item measures about 1 3/4 inches(4.5 cm) in height. The Lid measures about 1 3/4 inches(just under 4.5 cm) in diameter. The lid is decorated with Fancy Edwardian scrolls. The central cartouche has not been engraved. The glass jar is nicely cut. Most pieces are marked Sterling& Hand Hammered. They are clearly a matching set. The set consists of three brushes. A nail buffer with a housing case, and a hand mirror all with the same pattern and monogram. The set needs cleaning. I did a cursory cleaning on the back of the mirror and one of the brushes.To show they will clean up. See the last photos. The brush with the handle measures 9.5" in length. No dents. Some bristles missing. The two smaller brushes measure 7.5" 6" in length.The silver is in good condition, but again a few bristles are missing from each brush. The handled mirror measures 11" in length, with the diameter of the mirror ... moremeasuring 6" The silver is in very good condition, a couple of minor dings to the handle area. The mirror itself is unbroken, but shows some aging around it's edges. The nail buffer measures: 6" in length, with the housing measuring 6.25" in length. Antique William B. Kerr& Co. Sterling Silver Vanity Clothes Brush with Art Deco design. The William B. Kerr& Co. was established by William B. Kerr in Newark. New Jersey in 1855. It was well regarded for Art Nouveau vanity items. In operation until absorbed into Gorham in 1927. So this was made sometime before 1927. It has a art deco design around the edge with a hammered finish. In the middle the initials BFB are engraved in a box with a little floral design. It is beautiful and in very good condition. It does have some dents and light surface scratches as pictured. I polished it a little but it would benefit and look even better from further cleaning. this is an exquisite antique sterling silver and crystal vanity jar. it has exquisite victorian detailing of nice scroll work and beautifully floral trim, it has an open shape in the middle to be able to engrave initials. It is still blank it is stamped on the top sterling. it has a beautiful patina from age that can be shined up if desired. the crystal bottom is a very a detailed knobby mul ti-side shape. 1937 Roden Bros Birks Sterling Silver Vanity Dresser Mirror Brush 6 pc Antique
Offering for sale a Rare Antique RODEN BROS/ Birks STERLING SILVER Vanity Dresser Mirror Brush 5 pc Set This nicely detailed set dates to the engraved date of 1937 when the monogranned T&W( a family member) were married. Beautifully Engraved in a Floral Pattern with a Sterling Silver hallmark on each piece: Sterling 925 R(lion) They were carefully made in Toronto. Ontario Canada by Roden Bros Ltd. Then Birks later acquired this firm in the 1950's. The hand mirror measures approx. 12-1/2" long; the hair brush is 10" long; the other brush is 7" long; the comb is 8" long, the nail file is 5" long and clippers are 4.5" long. These are used. But in great condition. There is some light typical wear, as to be expected with a 75 year old dresser set. In overall good condition. Silver needs polishing. The bristles on the brushes are in good condition. The mirror is beveled. With no cracks or chips, but there are some cloudy“freckles” in the glass. this is a very rare antique high end solid brass and wood ornate trinket box from early 1800's. it is signed on the bottom by maker"St" the box is made from very thick. Very heavy brass and has a wonderful patina from age. it is extremely detailed with heavily embossed floral and scroll detailing. it has a wonderfully ornate solid brass locking hinge mechanism that sits in a slot next to the key hole. it is beautifully footed and lined with a wooden lining which also has a nice patina from age and use. the wood lining underneath the lid is inlaid and has 4 ornate decorative rivets holding it in plate. the box measures 5 1/8 by 3 3/4 inches by 2 1/8 inches tall. it is in exquisite shape and an extremely high end box. it does have a working key but forgot to take the picture of it. I am downsizing. Offered for sale is an antique tray that has 2 real dried butterflies along with silken threads and dried flowers and leaves from the Thompson Art Co. The butterflies and flowers are under glass and framed in a mahogany stained wood frame with two brass colored handles. The Thompson Art Co. was in business from 1905– 1923. Frederick H. Thompson(1844– 1909) started the Thompson Art Co. about 1905. Frederick M. Thompson(1876– 1923) took over the business in 1909 when his father died. Thompson Art Co. closed its doors permanently in 1923 when Frederick M. Thompson died. I bought this tray many years ago at a large antique show in the East. Over the years I have seen the larger serving trays but not this nice smaller size. I’ve had it displayed on a dresser in my guest bedroom. It measures 7” wide(not including handles) or 8-3/8” ... morewith the handles by 5” The deep well frame is 7/8” deep. The original paper backing is on the bottom of the tray. Printed in one corner is: Fred Thompson Pictures– Oddities D Tray Thompson Art Co. Portland. Maine The exact age of this lovely little tray is unknown but it is very old. The Thompson Art Co. was in business from 1905– 1923. The preserved items under the glass are in great condition. There is no damage to the glass. The stained antique wood frame has some scattered scuffs/ wear. The metal handles have decorative stamped designs and are brass colored. The handles show some wear so I believe they are brass plated. The handles are firmly attached. The paper backing is discolored and has come edge wear. For 90+ years old. It is a very nice tray. Please view the photos for additional details. This is a wonderful Art Deco style vanity or bathroom mirror for auction. The antique gold decoration is in excellent condition- no fading or wear. The mirror has no cracks. Chips or nicks. There is a LIGHT scratch that is highlighted in the top right of the 9th photo. The mirror has been dusted, but I did not attempt to clean any smears or fingerprints. ANTIQUE EARLY KING GEORGE II SHIP'S SINK/ CUPBOARD/ CABINET/ VANITY* Up for sale is this amazing antique. This very rare item is what appears to be a ship's sink. It has a porcelain sink and an old pipe down through the cabinet. This probably went into another basin that was emptied once it was full. What is so unique about this item is that it has the seal of the crown with the letters"G.R. below it. From our research on the internet. This is from King George II(Rex) or King Georgius II Rex as he was referred to and thus his initials were"G.R. He reigned from 1727- 1760 and it would make sense that this was from during his reign. It looks like a built in cabinet of some type and due to its size. It seems to be part of the quarters on a ship. It's mahogany and for being as old as it is, it's in great shape! It's ... moregot and old knob and handle for the door below. The stem of the handle is too long so the handle flops about some. We're not sure if this is the original handle or not. The cabinet is all nicely dovetail mortised. Including the bottom(not shown) The lid lifts up to reveal the porcelain sink inside. The sink has a little ding on one side but nothing out of the ordinary for the age. It even has the little brass chain and stopper for the sink basin. The back has flathead old screws in it and a couple of newer replacement screws. The backsplash also has a crack in it which is below the sink and visible only from the back. It has worn spots. Edge wear, scratches and nicks as you'd expect from and item of this age but in comparison to its age it is in GREAT condition. It measures 36" H x 20" W x 21" D and it weighs about 55 lbs. which is a testament to its quality. Thank you for looking at this item. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks! Check out our! Whitall ... moreTatum Company was one of the first glass manufacturers in the U.S. Operated from 1806- 1938, and was located in Millville, NJ where silica-based sand(used to make glass) is plentiful. Each of the seven jars in this set has a different label. They are: Violet Water. Bay Rum, Cologne, Lavender Water, Florida Water, Lilac Water, and Witch Hazel. A couple of these were a bit of a mystery to us, namely Bay Rum and Florida Water, so we had to do a little research via the Internet. In case they are to you too, we will tell you what we found out. Bay Rum is a scented liquid used as an aftershave or put in the hair. It is made of rum and bayberry leaves. Florida Water is the American version of Cologne Water. It still has a citrus base but more orange than the lemon of Cologne Water. Added to this are spicy notes including lavender and clove. Please note. These were purchased by us together; however, the labels are not all completely identical(some have a plain gilt frame, others have a gilt frame with a thin red line through it) and the original owner may have purchased some later than others. The latch and interior lid is marked for Emile Pinteaux, maker of fine traveling cases and vanity items. Opens to reveal a fitted interior. Various leather holders to accommodate vanity jars and bottles along the back edge. To either side of the suitcase are leather pouches with snap button closures.
