Antique Victorian Celluloid Vanity Dresser Jewelry Case w Accessories
This is a rare opportunity to obtain a beautiful item from the Victorian era. I have had it for several years and have decided to start parting with some of my most prized antiques as my kids and grands would have no interest in them. It is in very fine condition given its age with only a couple of condition issues overall. The celluloid has several areas where small pieces are missing and the silk lining has some fraying and soiling as well tho not horrible. I just like to point out any flaws as if I were buying it. It comes with the original accessories(not sure of the scissors) that were there when I got it. The bristles on the brush are very thin and look to be made of horse hair. Has a break at one end of the handle. Flat black. The blade is free of nicks and cracks but has rust present. It should clean up. I haven't tried to clean in anyway. Found in vermont farm house along with the other razor I have listed. This one's handle measures about 5 5/8 inch long. When opened at max it measures 9 1/4 inches. The blade is 9/16 INCH. For you consideration is a beautiful oval vanity tray with a gold-color filigree edge and mirrored tray. Considering its age it is in beautiful condition. Although please note that it does have surface scratching on the mirror from use. The gold tone/brass colored edging has developed a beautiful patina over the years, and there is no sign of corrosion or broken points. You can see in the pictures that at the base of the filigree there is a lovely detailed band holding the mirror secure. The bottom of the tray is covered in a soft maroon backing which is in excellent condition. There are only a few wear points where the tray came into contact with a the dresser. There are no rips or tears in the backing and the bottom is completely smooth, ensuring that it will not scratch your furniture. Antique Victorian Celluloid Box. The box is in very good condition. The box is completely covered with a pale green celluloid. It is then embellished with ivory colored celluloid trim that is scalloped all the way around the box. A lovely cameo style design is on the center top with two cherubs. The hardware in good working order. However the hasp is missing on the closure. Overall the celluloid is in very good condition given the age of the box. It does show slight wear that shows in the photos, so please study them carefully. The celluloid on the top of the box is slightly warped, but you really have to look to notice it. I took a photo that really shows it. The inside of the box appears to have been relined. I have not altered the box in anyway. I am selling it in as found condition. 2 vintage dresser bowls. The one on the bottom of the picture says Palmer's Trade Mark on the bottom. Has 2 splits near the bottom. The other one says nothing on the bottom and the lid has a dark spot on the center and a sticky spot which will probably come off but I didn't know what to clean it with. And 1890-1913 or so was the Belle Epoch- the Golden Era. Those Grand Tour travelers were well-heeled and traveled 1st class. From the train platform one might see a beautifully dressed gentleman whose servants were loading his travel trunks ... moreand he walking along with just his train case vanity. This might have been the elegantly conceived and remarkably compact& loaded French vanity case shown here, carried under and arm or by the handle(which is now missing) The outer case is fine leather, a bit the worse for its age. But the interior opens to reveal the most remarkable array of travel goods- complete in every detail and without damage to any of those French sterling silver topped jars, down to the wooden handle toothbrushes and the old ostrich down powder puff with its lovely little carved finial/handle. A more complete case can't be found, nor one with less damage to the contents. Not a single jar broken, not a single sterling silver lid dented. The set even has an ingenious collapsing boar-bristled shaving brush. Look our photos over well. The array of tools is remarkable, isn't it. Even the old original boar-bristled shell handled brushes and the original comb are inside and in great form. This very fine hand painted and scrolled floral jar is approx. 7-1/2" tall(with lid) and 6-1/2" wide at its widest part. Tapering to 4-3/4" wide at the base. There are imbedded markings on the bottom of the jar as shown in the last photo(525) but I'm not familiar with them. Glorious pink roses of varying sizes in leafy surroundings grace the jar along with light blue borders and metallic gold highlights. Antique Compact Enamel Inlay w/ Mosaic Center & Gold Dore Vanity & Puff FRANCE
One Antique French Floral Mosaic& Enamel Gold Dore Compact Embellished w/ Pink Beads& twisted rope design forming a scalloped front This is one of the most uniquely designed and artistically created Vintage Powder Vanity Compacts I have seen. It has a detailed Mosaic design with multiple flowers in the center. And even the Mosaic stones of the leaves have been painted to create depth. All stones are in perfect order, as are the pink stones that are set around the scallop lid design. This is so well made that it's like a piece of fine jewelry! There are enamel motifs in light blue on the top of the compact case that form another creative design(some of the enamel has pin holes that are not very visible to the naked eye. But I increased the definition for full disclosure. The edge of the compact is beautifully banded by a double ... morerope design. It closes/opens well and the hinges are very good. It also has it's original powder puff which is also in very good condition. It has a lovely bevel scalloped mirror framed in a gold setting(mirror has some some fogging and minor age marks that were difficult to capture in the photograph) The sides are embellished with detailed scrolls and flowers and the bottom also has a distinct design and is stamped MADE IN FRANCE. This Lovely Compact has a scallop like form that Measures 2-1/4" from the hinge to the front lip; and 2-1/2" from side to side. Thickness is about 5/8" closed. No cleaning has been done to this work of art by me. Except for a soft dry tooth brush to dust it. Please NOTE: Although the dark areas on the floral Mosaic may look like something is missing. It is actually leaf shaped stones that have a darker center. I checked everything with a jeweler's eye. Antique Nippon Japan Hand Painted Porcelain Dresser Vanity Set Very Pretty
This is a vintage Nippon vanity/ dresser set. It is hand painted and marked Nippon on the bottom of all of the pieces. This is a used item and will show some normal wear from use and age. For example. The gilt is rubbing off in some areas, scuffing on the bottom of the pieces. I see no chips, cracks or breaks on three of the items. The hair receiver, which I believe is the bowl with the lid with the hole on top. That item's lid with the hole has two hairline cracks in it. The item has not broken and it has not been repaired. When I saw it, it was so beautiful. I couldn't pass it up because of that one issue. I could have listed it without that item but I thought I would offer the entire set and let you decide what to do with that piece. Antique Vanity Set French Ivory Bakelite Pyralin Celluloid Art Deco
A two-piece set of dresser containers. One container is a beautiful color and the size is 4 3/4" across. This is an antique dresser powder puff holder. The second container is a hair receiver. Matching the first piece. Both are in excellent condition for their age. No damage, breaks or chips. There are a few stains in the bottom of both boxes. I purchased this item at an estate sale. And it is in EXCELLENT condition. It was made between 1891 and 1906. It has one"Tit" has been chipped off, but it is hardly noticeable. If you look hard, it is at the stem end of the two-rose pattern. The gold trim is in great shape also. There is a number 75 on the bottom of the plate. Also, this plate is 7" diam. Up for auction is an ornate Rococo/Victorian styled brass metal vanity tray with putti/cherub like angel figures holding a bird in their hands. There is a leaf scroll work along the edge of the mirrored tray and felt on the bottom. There is wear to the foil on the back of the mirror which shows through in a blotchy appearance and the brass has a nice patina showing this item has age. The item measures 26" x 17" long.
