Body is fibre board with blue metal strapping and metal corners, has 2 metal latches for closure and metal handle for carrying. Inside is blue and white floral pattern with metal hanging rod for clothing storage. In good condition for it's age. A few dings on the strapping, some rust but otherwise a nice sturdy doll trunk. This auction if for a wonderful old Arranbee 18" composition Nancy that comes with her original labeled trunk and her original wardrobe! She was produced in the 30's and you don't see these wonderful dollies with their original trunks and clothing very often. I used to have a framing store where I could display all my dolls but that is now closed and I just don't have anywhere to display her anymore and she is much too special to be packed away! I will be adding lots of pictures along with a detailed description. She has some paint loss around her joints as ... morewell as a small spot on her nose. Her painted lashes and brows look good while her lip color is not perfect. Her eyes are not real cloudy but she has some eyelash issues on her left eye. Looks like some little mommy gave them a trim! Her hair paint is good and as far as crazing. She has very little, none on her face. She has a crack in the composition on her left side as well as down the side of her left leg. The only composition loss I see is a finger on her right hand. Her wardrobe is amazing! Most of the items are in really good condition with the exception of one of the onesies. It has some shredding going on. The shoes are all there but not in great condition. I have not laundered any of the clothing. The trunk is original and sturdy enough, the inside is in good shape but as you can see the outside has seen better days. Vintage Steam Trunk Steam Punk Industrial Flip Down Trunk, Cool! Antique 1920s?
Offered is a very interesting antique Steam Trunk. It is a smaller one and what makes it unique is the way the side flips down and can be removed to make accessing one's clothing and accessories easier. This trunk measures about 32 x 20 1/4 x 11" It is very well made with brass corners and brass studs reinforced on both sides of the edges. I don't know the vintage of this trunk. But the Patent on the latch dates 1924. One leather strap is missing from the side handle, but the top handle is intact. The strap is worn, but still functional at this point. As mentioned, the side on one side of the trunk can be removed. This side has compartments for accessories. There is a cardboard"wall" that snaps shut to conceal the shelves. The snaps have leather straps and a leather pull, all in great condition. The cardboard"wall" ... moreis overlaid with a gold covering. This"wall" has a folding crease about 1/4 of the way up to the top and it folds down to reveal only the top shelf if desired. This crease is ripped about 2/3 of the way across. The other side of the trunk features two brackets that swing out for one to hang clothes on. There are also side brackets and straps to secure clothing with. The top of the trunk has initials calligraphiced on it reading"H.E.R" There is surface rust on much of the brass and one brass corner is missing a rivet. The uses for this trunk are endless. This chest was made long ago by the inmates of the Maine State Prison in Thomaston. Maine. See the metal tag on the front, below the lid, photo# 3} Although there is and has been, a program for inmates to create crafts and projects that are sold to the public{ now through a retail outlet on Rt. 1 in Thomaston} the particular age characteristics of this piece would suggest it is an early piece that was perhaps used in the industrial program as prison property. A LITTLE HISTORY: In 1824. Only four years after Maine broke off from Massachusetts and became its own state, the state legislature established the Maine State Prison in Thomaston Maine. The original layout of the prison had ... moreunderground cells, literally deep holes into which the prisoners were lowered each night and brought up in the daytime to labor in the stone quarry on the prison property. In 1923 the prison was destroyed by a fire in which many inmates died. The old prison was replaced by a facility with two cellblocks. There were long narrow hallways with very small cells{7' x 6' each} Since its early days the Maine State Prison has had a working industrial program. Inmates have worked the quarry. Constructed wooden wagons, buckboards, wheel barrows, sleighs, buggies and tack for horses. Some select inmates worked on the prison farm growing produce. With the advent of the automobile, the industrial program migrated to constructing furniture and expanded this line in the late 1930's to include crafts and novelty items. The Maine State Prison in Thomaston remained a maximum security facility until it closed in 2002. The prison was demolished in April of the same year. The Prison Farm{Bolduc Correctional Facility} and the new Maine State Prison in Warren, Maine, carry on the tradition of farming and woodworking. An 1800s elm blanket box/ chest. Wonderfull colour/ patina and elm grain detail. Hand forged iron lid hinges. Recently wax polished so all ready for the home. Fully treated throughout and guaranteed for woodworm as the chest had suffered in the past as seen in the pictures, some areas around the top edges to the interior are filled, its very common for elm to be attacked by worm. Antique Chest Trunk Wedding Norwegian/Norway ROSEMALED/ROSEMALING Kiste
This chest is a beautiful hand painted piece. I had an expert in early American antiques look at the piece. He said it most likely was built in the late 1700's. It has hand forged steel nails. Hinges and original lock. The wood is hand dovetailed as they are all slightly different in size. It's most likely European with that painting and as it has it has the tiny holes in the wood only found on European wood. He believed the chest was then painted and given as a wedding gift in 1880. The overall condition is good. Still very solid. One board on the bottom and one on the back have been replaced at some point. The wood has age cracks as you would expect from a piece of this age. This is a beautiful primitive immigrant's trunk. This is a very large trunk measuring 55"Wx32"Hx24"Deep with a curved top. It has dark green painted planks with hand stenciled flowers. Also stenciled on the front is the initials"BLD" and the date"1849" The trunk has hand forged metal straps. Handles and an original keyhole with the old fashioned metal key. The key and latch still works. Construction includes wooden pegs and dove tailed joints. The inside of the trunk is the original whitewashed wood with built in box storage area. Mostly on edges& some staining but all vital information is definitely included. some remnants of the dried ink remain on the bottle. and the broken and blackened original cork remains in the bottle. the pour spout has minor wear or loss of the glaze. Antique dolls trunk imitation crocodile bound with split cane
Good looking old antique dolls trunk. It is made of wood covered in imitation crocodile skin paper and bound with spilt cane. The inside is lined with shiny white paper. There is no key. But the catch just lifts up and you push it in gently to shut it. The two hinges at the back have short wires, these may be original or not, but the hinges work well. The inner tray is missing, the end of one cane is split where it is nailed on- shown in the photo. Not bad condition for its age and only slightly play worn. It is a original steamer chest from circa 1900's and would have been used on the ships of old Metal handles at each side. Front locks and clasps there is no longer any key for the middle lock long gone. Four hardwood slats on top with one at the front and back also. It is approx. half the height of the standard ones. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is intact with a few rips or scuffs. The fabric has been sealed to stay bonded to the wood. The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has been recoated and looks great with the pings and dings from being around a 100 plus years. The leather handles on the ends are now gone. New leather is needed there. Inside. The fabric covering is intact and in decent condition. The interior has zero smell and not mildewed. This is a totally retro early 20th century wardrobe trunk. Which makes a perfect coffee table, although it's rather heavy. It measures about 43" x 22" and is about 24" tall when in use as a coffee table. I'll mostly let the pictures do the talking, but you can see how sturdy it is, and also how well traveled it is, and how much wear and bruising it has taken. It comes with five drawers on the right side, and room to hang your clothes and store your valuables and toiletries on the left. In addition to the cuts and bruises, a lot of the exterior surfaces have been painted over for use as address labels. Also, the carrying handle is missing, and the lock is not functioning and we don't have the key. The lock is numbered"73E28" and marked"Eagle Lock Co. Patented July 26, 1898. Of some interest are the stenciled addresses on the painted surfaces. Which indicate it was used by a military family. Although the Becker Company was already out of business by 1920, so the trunk must at least be older than that, the army stencils appear to a show a date in 1958, when it was being shipped to Tehran, Iran, for Major Robert D. Dwan and Gertrude Dwan. A nearby handwritten inscription says"Lt. Col. Dwan" implying he got a promotion during his ownership of the trunk. Major Dwan- or Lt. Col. Dwan- shows up spottily in Google searches as a World War II Army veteran of the European Theater, and later as an instructor or professor at the Army Command College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. I could only confirm that this company did indeed make trunks in the late 1800's/ early 1900's. Measuring 36" x 21" x 13" and very heavy duty. It's in typical condition with wear you would expect from a piece this age, although please note the side handles and front locking latch are long gone. Very old. Possibly over 100 years old, Neverbreak steamer trunk travel chest. This chest is approximately 40" long x 21" wide x 21" deep. It is extremely heavy, and I would estimate between 75-100lbs+ in weight. It still has all drawers, storage box, original wooden hangers, and lock bars to secure drawers. There are original stickers on it from the cruise lines to Europe around ww1, railroad transport, etc. It has a flip up top for easy access to hangers with slide out extensions. Antique Vintage Hartmann Trunk Luis Vuitton, Goyard Trunk Era
The Joseph Hartmann Luggage Company was founded in 1877 in Milwaukee. Wisconsin. This trunk is a wonderful size 28 1/8(without measuring the wonderful handles) X 17 1/4 X 9 1/2" high and in excellent condition for its age. 1920-1950) The handles are leather and are wonderfully thick and intact. Their earliest trunks seemed to be large, heavy, clothing trunks with hangers. This one is lighter, and very well made.I do not have the key. The pattern on the inside and outside of the trunk is very similar to a Goyard trunk in dark varied forest greens. The 3, yest 3 handles are wonderfully thick, intact leather. One to each side and one to the front. It was once owned by H.L.Beck. The letters are 1/4" tall and approx 2" long below the front leather handle. The outside is heavily studded, I do not see any missing studds. The inside ... moreof this trunk is in excellent condition with its matching intact tray. The tray has some signs of wear. Please check out photos. I had planned to take the partial travel stickers off, but decided to leave that to the buyer. It has been on the Cunard Line- Paris-Cherbough, Bruxelles? The 2 rings on the front face with a date of 1840 and the names of the couple is a nice give away this is a pretty special find. Its has its flaws from age but this one is 100% Org. no touch up work done to it. It is all hand peg construction with a super nice hideing box on the left side. On the interior of the trunk are some original Chromolithographs or Victorian Lithographs which was a method for making multi– color prints. Depending on the number of colors present. 19th C. Antique CARPENTERS WOOD TOOL STORAGE CHEST TRUNK Original Old Gray Paint An antique carpenter’s tool chest with original old gray paint. The sides and top are of single board construction with applied trim boards and it is of square nailed construction. The lid was attached with make-do iron hinges. It has an old steel lock but no key and a padlock type latch was added at a later date. It has iron handles at the ends. There are no marks identifying the maker. It measures approximately 35” wide. 20” deep and stands 19-1/4” high. It originally had three 1-1/2” wide strips applied to the bottom as feet to keep the bottom board from rotting but one of the strips is missing. Other than that its is complete. Antique Military School Trunk in Primitive Blue Green Paint with Molding. There are carved initials on the outside top" TNG" The name" T.N. Goodburne" is in white paint on one side. Wrought iron bale handles on the sides. There are replaced long hinges of iron on the inside. The inside top has two carved out spaces. One for a sword(lined in purple velvet) and another for a pair of scissors. Newspaper articles are glued inside the top; pencil marks are also on the inside top. I'm not sure of the actual age of this trunk but I do know it is very old. The lock does not work and the leather handles on the ends are gone due to age. The inside removable box is still in good shape. 1 or 2 of the snaps might be missing.

Antique Innovation Steamer Wardrobe Trunk 1900's Bulge Model W/Drawers & Hangers
You're looking at a really cool antique steamer trunk from the early 1900s by Innovation. This really reminds me of the scene from the Harry Potter movies where Professor Lupin has been fired and is magically packing up his trunk to leave Hogwarts! There are 5 drawers on the left side. The top one is divided into 3 separate compartments. All have intact leather pulls. The right side features a set of wooden hangers that swing out for easy access to all your clothes plus two more small shelves for hanging trousers or locking larger items into the lower portion of the trunk. The outside is nearly indestructible. Being covered in metal. It looks like someone spilled some white paint on it at some point. The hinges are intact, and the main latches are functional, although the secondary ones are damaged.
