Antique Trunk Charming Restoration! Patent Date of 1869
For sale today is a restored is a medium size stagecoach style humpback steamer trunk. The restoration of this great old humpback turned out very very nice. The pictures do not do it justice. I found one patent date on the center lock of Nov 1869 which makes this awesome old humpback as much as 143 years old- a true antique. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid and the wood has been clear coated several times. There are three slats and four metal wheels on the bottom and the trunk rolls easily. The trunk has the two original hinges which are HD. Tight, work well and the lid closes well. It has 20 pieces of original polished hardware. Still has the original center lock which has been polished and there is no key. Two new black leather latches were installed on the trunk and they both ... morework very well. There are 6 original solid oak slats in a golden oak color on the trunk. The interior paper has been removed and it has the original tray. All the metal is in very good condition. There are 31 polished brass nail covers. Rare and Rustic. Antique Hide Covered Round Top Trunk- 1831! This amazing trunk dates back to when Andrew Jackson was president of the United States! Trunk is lined with newspaper from the Christian Intelligencer( April. 1831) The Christian Intelligencer was in publication between 1830 and 1920. It was printed and published in New York for an association of members of the Protestant Reformed Dutch Church. The trunk is highly adorned with brass nail heads. Steel plates and various types of leather. Hand forged iron handles on each end and a nice simple lock show off some serious craftsmanship. An old gouge repair is seen above the lock which was sewn with sinew. Condition is very good for the age and unbelievable journey this item has traveled. Uncertain what wood this is. Lid is still very straight with no major bowing or warping. Much of ... morethe soft. Deerskin hide has worn off, though some is still present in places. Unfortunately, the hide on this trunk has been peeled off, cut and removed in places. At one time the large brass nails spelled out the owners initials on the lid: SB" The hide is missing from the following areas: top middle section. the entire back and right side and the lower left side. We are guessing someone was looking to refurbish it many years ago? That is why these trunks are so rare. the ugly ducklings of history that get lost forever. There are no keys for the unmarked lock. I have a set of antique steamer trunk handle brackets. These are for slotted leather handles. I bought these, and then found out I didn't need them. Two black leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" by 3/16" thick nine inches long. Four brass plated metal strap ends painted black one side. Split head brass tacks-eight 1" long to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the strap ends. The handles measure approx 11" metal end to metal end but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

Measuring 24ins( 61 cms) high x 24ins(61cms) wide x 18ins(4 6 cms) deep. It is a traditionally constructed'sailor's' chest with a pine body, having part iron banding and corner protectors with brass studded wooden batons. There is an old iron handle at both ends and a central clasp and lock. Internally it is still lined with the original paper lining and has a removable half height divider in the middle. This chap has been around since before the Boer War and! Originally it was canvas covered. This has now been removed and the underlying pine has been prepared and waxed, as have the batons and brass studs. There ... moreare.Of course, a myriad of very characteful nicks, dinks and scars. Dents, scratches and so on over most of the piece and some of the metal work is missing and/or battered with remanants of paintwork on it, but its all characterful! There is a repaired.And now solid, small hole at the back by the right hand side hinge, the screws in the hinges are replacement ones, there are one or two woodworm holes from some long since deceased worms and there is no key for the lock. Also the internal paper is tatty, scuffed and torn and badly stained, but still dry and perfectly usable. For as accurate a representation/description as possible. Antique trunk flat top steamer with all original parts except handles and endcaps with original wood tray. This trunk has been recently refinished and is in mint condition. It has been stripped. Cleaned stained and has 2 coats of laquer. The wood is slick and smooth, you will not find many trunks with as smooth finish as this trunk. Physically it is in good condition but obviously it has been used through the years. Measurements, left to right =L 30 1/2" front to back=D 18 5/8"from bottom(floor) to top of trunk=H 21" Tray measures L 28 1/2, D 16 5/8, H 5 1/8. This trunk weighs 39.6 pounds. The leather handles do measure 2" on each side but they can be pressed down so not to take as much room.

Here for auction is a beautiful pine trunk or fire trunk(so named because people stored their most valued possessions in a trunk so they could take it with them in case of fire) that came from the Bavarian region of Germany. The colors are very vibrant. There is a very large metal forged antique key and lock, and old forged hinges. The trunk is 47" long, 23" front to back, 24" tall, and the pine planks are 7/8 thick. When the lid is lifted, the additional storage drawer seen on the left side measures 4" wide, 3" deep and 20" long. Here is an antique oil lamp dating from the mid 1800's. It features a pattern glass top with a pottery stem in the form of a tree trunk with foliage. The base is slate. Burner marked BANNER P& A MFG. CO, MADE IN U.S.A. It does NOT have the chimney. Wick adjusting screw works fine and lamp is functional. There is a flat corner chip and small edge chips/roughness to the slate base. THIS AUCTION IS FOR PREVIOUSLY OWNED and USED Antique Carpenters Tool Chest Wood Tool Box First of all. I would like to say this box is NOT in perfect condition. Please read the descrition. I obtained this old box at an estate sale in Massachusetts It measures with the top closed appx. 37 5/8” across 23 5/8” deep and 23 ¼” tall with the top closed. It weighs appx. 135 pounds There are some cracks in the wood around the trim on the top of the box and other places. No major damage to the bottom of the box. The top middle portion of the lid has some issues. The wood has separated from the tops outside trim. It doesn't completely come apart; it still has a couple nails holding it together. The wood from the center seems kind of soft and from wear. Moisture or something. That part of the trunk appears to be a different type of wood, a ... moresofter wood from the rest of the trunk. You can see from the inside of the lid. There is also some damage and missing or broken trim. It is pretty loose from the top also. A few nails are holding it. The insert draws also have issues and have broken and cracked wood. In some places wood is actually missing. This is how I obtained it. The trunk has paint. Wear, scrapes and scratches. It even shows signs of moisture stains and is a little dusty and dirty. There are a couple old screws missing from the brass corners. The person I obtained this trunk from told me that it had belonged to his Great Grand Father that lived in Dana Massachusetts and was a woodworker back when Dana was a town. The box was just passed down. The box was stored in his basement and he needed to get it out to make room. It was filled with tools at the time but I took them out of the box. The tools are not included in this action. There are a couple things that do give up this trunks age. The four bottom wood slats are present as well as the heavy duty rollers. The trunk bottom is in very good condition, with zinc covering and hardwood slats. The brass hardware is all present and has not been highly polished, to preserve the aged patina. It could be polished if desired. The leather trim, corners, and handles are intact with typical signs of wear. The leather has all been treated with professional leather treatment polish. It is hard to find ornate trunk handles of this style that are still intact. The trunk is a great size for use as a table if desired. Condition notes: This trunk is in very good used condition. But there are signs of age and use which are typical for a trunk of 100 years or more in age. There are some minor issues I want to describe. The top of the trunk has a couple splits or cracks in the canvas, which are not visible from all angles. The cracks are filled and glued and are not very large or very noticeable. Beautiful Antique Dome Top Trunk, Outstanding Hardware, Exceptional Interior
Beautiful Antique Alligator Tin Dome Top Trunk Very nice mid-sized dome top trunk from the 1880's. This trunk has been 100% professionally restored and is absolutely beautiful. The original alligator tin still remains and has been cleaned. Polished, and preserved with several coats of stain and Tung oil topcoat finish. The stamped tin hardware has all been polished with a wire wheel and really looks nice against the oak slats that surround the body. The oak slats were all cleaned and sanded with steel wool giving the wood a smooth, almost soft feel and a very rich, warm color. The black trim was cleaned with a wire wheel to remove and surface rust or imperfections, then painted with 1 coat of metal primer and 3 coats of flat black paint. The flat black is a great contrast against the semi gloss finish of the Tung oil on the slats and ... moretin. Very solid trunk all around, nicely built, hinges are strong, all hardware is included. The handles have been replaced with new 3-ply leather for many more years of life. The interior of this trunk is second to none and in my opinion is the best you'll find in the marketplace. A friend of mine does most of my trunk interiors. She's been doing trunks for 30+ years and her work is exceptional. Antique Camphor Captains Sea Chest Chinese Camphor Trunk
This beautiful antique camphor sea chest belonged to my grandmother. It has been in my family for a very long time and is being sold due to lack of appreciation unfortunately. According to my grandmother it was owned by captain Bearse. One of the many, but more well know, sea captains from Chatham, MA. There is no way to prove this but it is period appropriate and antique appraisers agree it is an early chinese style camphor sea chest. The smell of camphor when you open the chest is incredible. There is one brass fitting missing on the bottom right, and a repair was done by my grandfather(a woodworker) in the 1940's to repair a seperating split in the left upper corner of the lid. Antique Vintage 1890's/1900 Leather Covered Wood Trunk Chest. This is quite old and used- shows age and wear. See pics. One of the leather straps across the top is broken off and the other shows heavy wear/age, both leather side handles are missing, leather covering shows age especially top right rear corner- see pic. Newspaper inside is dated July 21, 1918. Chest/Trunk measures about 28" x 15-1/2" x 14" tall.
